Old Rolling Pin

I don't know what it is about this time of year that makes me want to bake more goodies.  I think Jess and Nel feel the same way.  Jess recently made some chocolate cupcakes, and Francesca had the best time helping her.

I came across this old rolling pin in one of my cupboards.  Remember these?  It belonged to a dear relative who gave it to me many years ago.  I want to eventually pass it along to one of the girls, as they enjoy baking as well.

These cookies cutters are so old, and the gingerbread one belonged to my mom.  I've kept it all these years.  They used to have the handle on top to make it easier to cut the cookie dough.

Speaking of baking, here is Francesca getting into the baking spirit.

And here she is making pancakes
one morning with Papa.

Have you baked anything lately?

Nothing better then baking with your granddaughter(-: Mine loves baking too. I have two old rolling pins I use. One belonged to a dear friend and the other one is marble, that another friend bought me years ago. I also have a bunch of antique ones I collected over the years.
Today I am baking sourdough bread that's about it for me. Have a great week!

Oh my gosh - those photos are priceless - I want one of those cute little pink things to help me bake - maybe I would bake more. She is a living doll!

Sheri - I am like you - when autumn begins to arrive my baking needs grow :)! Your rolling pin is exactly like the one I use yet today. As for your granddaughter - she makes the sweetest baker I have seen! Hope your week is as gentle too. Will you have cooler weather where you live and leaves change? I think when the trees start to take on oranges and reds and bright yellows my soul begins to sing! Hugs Debbie

Have a gentle week. I like that, :)

I like to bake things this time of year too. Maybe it's because I know Christmas is coming... even though it is 96 degrees outside here. Ha ha!

My mom had a rolling pin like that. Memories.

Look at the pretty aprons! They are all so cute! And it does feel like time to bake and it's always better with REAL butter! I've baked blueberry muffins TWICE lately! I can't eat them but hubby can and we share with others too. Sweet sugar free hugs....Diane

I always look forward to fall and winter for baking when the heat from the oven will feel good. I have a rolling pin just like that...

Francesca looks just too cute for words! I bet she will be a good cook.

Sheri, we both have the same rolling pin. Fall does make us want to bake, doesn't it? Your cookies look yummy. I love the Norwegian quote! Francesca is such a cutie with Jess and her dad! They are good parents. My grands still love to bake with me at Christmas time or anytime of the year. I think they like eating the results more than making them, though.

Francesca is so pretty, and the cookies look good enough to grab right off the page and eat! Last Christmas I took one of my Grandson's ideas and mixed two boxes of cookie mix together ( I think chocolate chip and peanut butter) baked it in a square pan and cut into bars.
Everybody loved them! Thanks for a yummy post!

First of all dear Sheri, your phrasing, "have a gentle week" rings so true to me right now. That was my prayer yesterday as I was driving into work. I asked the Lord to please "Give us a gentle day today at school." Baking with the children is such a memory-maker! There is nothing like creating the souvenirs of childhood like mixing the smells and textures and tastes of family love.

I had to do a couple batches of cookies last week for an event and it has jumpstarted me wanting to bake again (though right now I'm in a pesto zone!). I'll get ahead with some for our November sale soon!

I have been trying to get back into baking more. I am finding myself since being lost for months and months, with that I am feeling better so I am trying to do more things like bake...and since I am not a cooker I need to stick with baking! I did make some blueberrie bread the other day. YUM it was so good but things like that don't need to stay at my house so I end up giving 1/2 away....Should have sliced and froze. HAHA Cookies look YUMMY. So nice of Francesca to help out. SWEET....So Sheri, what are temps and weather like at your end of Calif?

I have my Mom's metal cookie cutters just like those. I literally bake cookies 3-4 times a week. Just yesterday I baked a cake. There's always something yummy in the works in my kitchen!

I am so happy to see that special family time with cooking and baking. We did the same with our boys. They loved to cook and bake with us. They both have interests in food today. Wanting to know where it came from, reading labels and watching for artificial foods. I think that all comes from teaching them at a young age.
I enjoyed this post!

Wow, how grown up Francesca is and how cute she is!
Like you, Sheri, the colder days make me turn on the oven and bake cookies with cinnamon flavors. We still have raspberries, peaches, delicious figs, and I enjoy their taste. There are plenty of grapes, but yes! - I baked and cookies :)

How fun. Love baking with the grands, everything is so new to them. I can't get over the fact my beloved kitchen items are called vintage and my daughter is paying a fortune to collect Pyrex bowls! I gave her mine for her 'collection'.

I also gave her the egg beater, but I am holding on to the rolling pin.

That little girl looks so adorable!
I used to have one of those rolling pins but I never really liked it and eventually donated it. I have worked with a French rolling pin for several years now and love how they evenly roll out the dough. I don't bake very much, but just recently I was thinking of making pumpkin bread and I will probably do that this weekend. I love to bake bread and I'm going to make a special Southwestern German breakfast "roll" for tomorrow's Sunday breakfast.

I'm late getting here, Sheri. She is just adorable! LOVE her hair and I can't believe how big she is already.
I have my mom's and gramma's rolling pins--both are 'oiled' from all the years of rolling cookies, etc.with them. I hope each of my girls want one someday.
Have a great night and good Sunday- xo Diana

Francesca is darling. I don't do much baking these days but I do have mother's rolling pin from 1947. I often think of all the goodies she made with that rolling pin and the love she put into everything she made. This time of year makes me hungry for pumpkin pie!
