To Become A Real Boy

So, you know how close I am to the girls, but there is one that I am just as close with, and that's my son.  I don't get to talk about him that much on here, so thought I would share a little about him.

He walks and walks and walks...
and walks some more.
I really admire that he's so active.

I just met him for breakfast a week ago.  We catch up on the happenings in our lives, and we went to Mimi's Café, one of our favorites around here.

He is the most non-materialistic person,
and it is a refreshing change
from all the wants and desires that
we hear in our world today.

He stands tall, 6 feet,
but is humble in many ways.
I think that is my favorite trait of his.

He sure loves those sisters of his too.

When he was little, I gave him this plaque, and I still have it to this day hidden away in a box of treasures.

We've had so much rain lately, and even hail!  When it hailed the other day, I was reminded of something that my son wrote when he was only nine.  He talked about the rain and the snow and the lightning.  I will keep his story always.

I saw these flowers at the market, and they had the most unusual and beautiful color.  My friend, Kathy, let me take a picture of them, and in return am giving them to him for all the joy he brings to my life.

When I was a child,
I spoke like a child,
I thought like a child,
I reasoned like a child.
When I became a man,
I gave up childish ways.
1 Corinthians 13

You have turned into a wonderful man.
Thank you, son of mine.

Oh goodness this is sweet! How blessed to have such a fine, young man as a son and that you can have those times to catch up in person! I was JUST telling one of the kids in my Sunday school class a story about MY son when he was her age and it brought back so many memories of that little boy who is now a grown, married 30 year old, godly man. Our reward for all of those diapers, etc. haha!

What a touching post. It made me think of my nephews and when they were young. They too are all grown now. And how nice your son is not materialistic, not an easy feat in this day and age.

Oh Wow Sheri, This touched my heart so much. He sounds like a wonderful son and I know you're so proud of him. It touched me so much cause it reminds me of my one and only son, same height and everything and he's a runner. I heard about the hail there and wondered about you. this has been a strange winter and our part of the country here in the south is being bombarded with rain and more rain. It goes from one extreme to another clear across the country. Love and Blessings, Susie

What a beautiful post Sheri. Your son has grown into a wonderful man, I am sure thanks to your influence. I really like the plaque you gave him. Mimis Cafe looks nice, very clean and attractive. We had coffee with our younger son last Sunday - and as always, this is a special treat for we parents. Have a great week my friend.

YOU are a wonderful writer. You write from the head and heart and you leave an impact.

There is something very special about having a son; I don't know where this comes from since I have no children of my own, only students. And while girls are special, there is just something interesting about being the mother of a man......

You are blessed, Sheri.

Such a dear tribute to your son, Sheri and the photo of you both is just precious! I have two sons and I know that special bond a Mother and son can share. I love how you describe him and I have no doubt that he is the man he is today because he had a wonderful Mom to show him the way. It's so nice that you have a favorite meeting place to catch up, too. They grow up so fast and you miss that day to day interaction, but the pride and joy he brings to you more than makes up for it, I'm sure. Sending hugs xo Karen

Sheri, how this touched my heart! Well, I'm the mother of three sons as well as one daughter so you know why it got to me. I have tears in my eyes. This brought back memories of their youth and then thoughts of the fine men they are today. As someone who loves hearing stories of the girls in your family here on the blog I have to say it was also great to hear more about this guy who we normally only hear that you've met him for breakfast. That always sounds so neat to me, a breakfast date with a son. If only I could get up and going that early!

Here's to many more breakfast dates with sons,
Dewena

Hi Sheri..
Somehow, I missed this post. It was great and I know your son must have loved it, too. Thanks for all your visits, Sheri. You are a dear person. Susan

You are so right Sheri that I will like this post
but I did not only like it because I loved it a lot.
Reminded me of my son a lot.
That cafe looks really nice
and I'm sure your son kinda likes his privacy too.
Oh I love keeping the things my son did when he was young
no matter how trivial they are, and I did a lot of scrapbooking too.
All your pics look awesome
but the old one with your son is really precious.
Have a great week.
