"Out with the old; in with the new."
This phrase will always stick with me. As a child, Mom used to tell us this when we wanted new toys, and we had to donate old toys we didn't use before we could have a new one.
I have been spending the new year de-cluttering and organizing my home.
Adding a touch of style here...
and some character there.
Have you been working on your home in the new year?

I've just been cleaning up the mess left behind after Christmas. I visited my son for 3 weeks after the holidays and then was sick 2. Just now feeling up to putting all that wrapping paper, decorations, etc. away. But, soon, I will get the spring cleaning urge... just wait and see.
with Christmas put away {& sifted through then donated, keeping favorites in the bin..just 1 bin now!}, i began on my wardrobe {2 leaf bags filled to overflowing}, and have just begun on the kitchen. whew.
peeks into your newlywed home are lovely..
Jess, When you get done there....come on over and help me . :):) Yes, I try to purge a bit here and there....but honestly, paperwork is a killer in sorting. Once I get this year's taxes done, I will shred some of the old receipts. Love the glimpses of sweetness in your photos. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Great.
Love your dresser pulls. They are charming.
The images are gorgeous :)
lovely Greetings Jess!
Out with the old, In with the new. ; )
I'm glad you kept the candle and the pink macaron. And I like how the door knobs
turned out. ~mom
Out with the old, in with the new - that's a big problem for me. New comes in but old doesn't leave; it stays and creates clutter.I get attached to things, especially clothes, and it's hard for me to part with them. Lately, I made some effort to improve things, and hope I'll keep up the good work, as they say.
I like your "touch of style".
Out with the old in with the new - sounds good!
Love what you have done, especially lovely to see the snippets of the wedding photo's.
Have a good new week ahead
All the best Jan
Too hot here those things are done in the winter here about June.

Oh yes, we have been going through our home giving many things to Amvets. It's a great feeling to clean out and get rid of things we no longer need or want. Your mother taught you well! ♥
So wise of your mum, I haven't thought of that. I like this topic, finally somebody I can relate ;-) I was actually on leave from work for 2 weeks after Christmas and all I did was cleaning up the entire house including my wardrobe. I mostly taken out old and broken stuff though, I haven't put new ones in except the gifts I got on Christmas. I like the photos and this post that you shared Sheri, always love your ideas :)

I have been....I've been decluttering and everything looks clean and fresh. Your mom is wise to have taught you that if you want something new, get rid of something else. Clutter is crazy for the mind! Have fun, Jess!
Jess,
I always enjoy all of the decorating for Christmas and then I so look forward to January and decluttering Christmas and freshening up the house. We had a nice moderate January day yesterday and I even opened up the windows!
Such pretty images too!

That's a good idea, Jess...out with the old and in with the new. I haven't been able to stick to it, though. Too much clutter in drawers and cabinets around here. I find that if I write down that I'm going to clean one out, it goes smoother. Love your photos. Susan
Hi Jess,
Yes, we cleaned out two closets last weekend. It felt great. We have more to do. We are starting to do some downsizing.
I LOVE your last photo!

Very beautiful pictures. It's always such a positive thing to have a clear out. I desperately need to. Actually started on Sunday afternoon but always so busy that I don't know if it will ever get finished.
Clutter clearing is so good for the soul! xo

I enjoyed the glimpses into your decor! We have moved several times in recent years, and I am a NUT about getting rid of stuff we don't use! lol
That was a good rule of your mom's -- wish I'd learned that one decades ago!
Slow but sure, cleaning up spots. The guest room is almost ready for guests, then the linen closet and basement. And bags for goodwill!
