Have you been watching Roots on tv? It is a really good movie, and makes you aware of this particular period of time. The actors did an amazing job, and even the children actors were incredible. There is one scene where the children were playing with their dolls, and it was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Here are some of the characters I liked best.
Tom Lea
Kunta Kinte
Kizzy
Fiddler
Belle
Chicken George
Missy
Nancy Holt
(she had a small role but a powerful one).
The movie may still be showing
if you want to watch it.
I recommend it,
it's an awesome one.

Sheri, I have always loved the story of Roots. Chicken George was one of my favorites. Hope you are having a good start to your week. We are going to be busy here. I just realized I missed my classmate brunch this morning. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
Good morning, sweet Sheri! Ah, what a delight to my heart to pop in for a visit. How are YOU? Oh, how I have missed you. I sincerely hope all is well and you're enjoying this month of June.
I have not watched this, but I must say it looks quite good and interesting. Thanks for telling us about it. Have a wonderful week!
Much love to you!
A powerful movie. A great recommendation for summer viewing.
We have the 1976 version with Lavar Burton! We watched it a few months back; I had seen it in my senior year of high school where as my husband had never seen it. POWERFUL indeed!
Happy day dearest Sheri!
Hi Sheri,
Have watched the original movie many years ago and the message was powerful and stayed with me. Have a delightful week.
xoxo,
Vera
Sheri, I loved watching Roots when I was younger. I loved all the characters and actors. They did a unforgettable performance. Happy Monday ♥
Hugs, Jody
I love period films, especially the costumes , and there is always a story with no foul language. I haven't seen this film, I'll have to watch out for it on the English TV channels.
I've seen parts of the original movie, Sheri. It's a powerful, sad part of our history. I'm very tender hearted and have trouble watching acts of violence on someone because of the color of their skin. It is a cautionary tale for today.
Have a beautiful day. ♥
My hubby recorded the whole series and I was able to see part of a it. I have always been interested in the Roots movies, especially the original series created by Alex Haley. The cool thing is, he is from this area of NC where I live and many of the areas depicted in the movies was right in the very county where I live! There is a cemetery a few miles from me where some of his relatives who were slaves are buried. Such an interesting (and sad) time in history.
I have not watched it, but the images you've shared are very powerful.
I hope you have a lovely week ahead.
All the best Jan
I remember watching the original 'Roots' and what an impact it made on me, dear Sheri. I have not caught this new version, but if it comes around again, I will be sure to tune in. xx Karen
I have not watched it. I will look into it.

The original was fabulous, but I haven't seen this version. Thank you for the review Sheri!
I did not know there was a new movie of Roots, but enjoyed the original series back in the day. I'll be sure to look out for it over here. Thanks for sharing it with us Sheri.
Good Morning Sheri,
I remember watching the original series and the powerful message that it carried.
These epic movies seem to stay with us our entire lives.

I know that slavery was condoned in this country. Just as I know that the Holocaust happened, in Germany.
Both are horrible blots on humanity.
But since I did not, nor did any of my ancestors, participate in either, I can not dwell on either. Beyond fully saying, that they were blots on humanity.
And I do not agree with the prevailing view, that we must _continue_ to give special perks, to the off spring of slaves. When does it end? Never?

I haven't watched Roots in a very long time. It is a movie I feel my daughter should watch. Thank you for reminding us about it.
A wonderful powerful movie with fantastic actors… I should watch it again… Been so busy lately, I didn't even know it was showing again.
XOXO Mary
