The days are getting warmer here, and it is supposed to be in the 80's most of June, which will be a pleasant month. We'll see how July goes. We did have a light rain with thunder one day last week; I love those rainy days in the summertime.

I went to the church grounds, and I wanted to get my Rosary blessed by the Priest. While I was there, he gave me Communion too. When I was a kid, things were a little different in the Catholic Church than they are now. We used to be able to just walk inside the church and say a prayer at anytime. And the Priest was always around. Now, because of the way of the world, some of the churches are closed during the day, and appts. are made. Some parishes often leave doors unlocked during the day when workers and volunteers are on-site, and on those days you can go inside the church, say a prayer, light a candle, and just be. There is a scene in Rocky that makes me laugh. He goes to see the Priest because he wants to get a blessing before the fight. He yells from his car, and the Priest greets him at the window. He loves this Priest and chats with him for a moment, and the Priest smiles and gives him a blessing. That's the way it was back then. And in many areas, it still is. So, I tend to go with what I know and what I'm familiar with. If I see the Priest on the church grounds, I will sometimes ask him for Communion, and of course, I receive it at Mass too, but it's always nice to chat with the Priest. And what a good feeling it is to receive the Body of Christ. I encourage my children often to do this. While I was there, I took some pics of the grounds. There weren't many flowers because they all came and went, but there was a couple white roses for me to admire.
And since fourth of July is near, I got a neat one of both flags in the front and rear entrance.
Braised barbecue pork meal with garlic bread.
Some days when I don't feel like cooking, I'll get take-out. I got a breakfast burrito with bacon, and their burritos are so filling that you can have them for lunch or dinner. High above, on one of their walls, I noticed this sign. I loved what it said.

~When I was at the grocery store, I came out with all my groceries, and there was a silver blue Tundra in the parking lot near my car. Inside the truck there was a white Dove just sitting there on the dashboard. I was in awe because I've only seen one white Dove before (on the freeway driving to So Cal). It wasn't small, but big, white, and beautiful. I wanted to take a picture, but didn't have my camera with me, so I just enjoyed the moment.~

Summertime here is when people come from all over to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. And some have been known to hike for months at a time. It's so interesting when I run into one of the hikers when I'm in town. This time, the homeland was from the Netherlands. He was a young hiker, eager to see everything. I asked him if he has seen the waterfalls yet, and he said, "not yet, but I will." I love to hear all the different accents from these backpackers when they're passing through our town.
A few more pictures from Greece that Nel sent me.
Welcome summer!

Hi Sheri, We had a lot of the thunder and dry lightning last week. It rumbled throughout the day. We didn't get any rain but my son who lives 6 miles from me did. Not a lot. Just enough to spot the windshield.
Nice photos from Greece. I hope you find enjoyment for this beautiful week.
Sheri...all of the photos are so very good. this looks like a wonderful trip for the girls and they look beautiful in each picture. Love the pretty picture of the white dove.. Doves are very special birds. I'm not familiar with the Catholic church...My niece and her family attend our local Catholic church, but that is about all I know. You are right. July 4th will be here soon and this photo of the AMAZING American Flag is stunning... It's hot around here and definitely Summer...hugs from Texas..
It's similar in our churches, not everything is always open like it used to be. In addition, in some parishes the parish offices are also closed.
But we can always call the parish priest and arrange confession and conversation, anointing of the sick and the like.
I look at a beautiful white rose and feel its pleasant scent even here. Kind regards, Jasna
So sad that your church has to keep it's doors locked. Not being Catholic, I have often wondered about your churches...if a member can just walk in to light a candle or have communion. I love the photo of the three of them in the golden light of Greece.
Lovely post. So much truth about the times when we were...to the times as they are now. Traveling to Greece is not possible for us, and I regret that we did not go back when..
I'm so glad you were able to receive the blessings and communion. So very special and tender moments for you.
Those white roses are beautiful and as the rest of the photos.
Love the photos of your Granddaughter and her sassy hat too.
Sure wish I could see all of those sights in person.
Have a great week and try to stay cool. We are going to hit the middle 90's today.

I enjoyed your post Sheri, thank you for sharing your faith with us. We have a 24/7 Adoration Chapel at our St. Joseph. We go to pray on Sunday evenings. It is very peaceful for us and a great way to start our week.
I loved the story about the white dove.
And I loved the photos from Greece.

Thank you for another delightful read. I enjoyed your stories and the photos from Greece. I always wanted to visit the Greek Islands, and now I will be happy to make a virtual visit thanks to your daughter's photos. Happy Summer to you.
A white dove, how beautiful. A dove of peace, I don't think I've ever seen one before.
Here, too, one priest serves many parishes. I can remember when things were different, every church had its own priest.
I wish you a wonderful week.
I know what you mean about churches locked in the day -- the world has changed and not in a good way. But I'm glad you were able to see the priest and have the blessing. I loved the photos. And what fun to talk to the visitors from the path. You meet people from all over the world -- that's just wonderful. That dove -- wow!
Sheri, your words always capture the little blessings of everyday life.
I enjoyed the part about chatting with the priest, the sight of the white roses, and especially the dove.
Meeting hikers from far away must be so interesting.
The Greece photos are gorgeous.
Happy Tuesday 🌹
Dear Sheri, your photos are beautiful, dear friend. And seeing that photo of the dove 🕊 reminds me if pigeons, because they are in the same family and are gentle, lovely and peaceful birds. I love the cooing sounds they make.
I can't imagine going to church and asking for a blessing - confession - lighting candles. It seems so different, yet it really is a beautiful tradition. My husband was Catholic, and we visited his church often. I was always interested in it - yet didn't really understand. So is your church closed unless you ask for it to be open. I think our church is closed - but the office section open. The world has changed everything, and I am not sure for the best. I hope you can find the rest of the story. Your girls are really getting the vacation of a lifetime there - I am jealous in a good way.
Love, sandie
The Dove in the car was just amazing.
It is no coincidence that the white dove is a symbol of peace... it brings so much peace! It is so beautiful to see the girls in my country and at the Parthenon in Athens, a symbol of culture for us, where Democracy was born...
They are very beautiful and it seems like they are having a good time!!
What a lovely post! I love the white rose on the church ground. Yes, today’s time has changed a lot of things for many churches. Glad you were able to go and have some time to get your rosary blessed and communion. There is something so incredibly and wonderfully Holy and sacred about communion.
To see a white dove would be a wonderful experience.
How lovely to see your Church appears to be in the woods, and to read about meeting the your priest. It is true, the churches here are also locked most of the time now, so sad and different from the past. My local church is opened only when in use, as the priest travels from another parish for Mass twice a week. Although we can see the City Centre 20 km away, we are considered an outpost! The white dove is absolutely beautiful and I do not think I have ever seen one. I looked up the Pacific Crest Trail and it is really interesting. What fun to meet the hikers in your town. Oh my, to see the Acropolis in Greece, what a wonderful thing for your girls. They will remember it forever. The little Church/shrine is really sweet too. Great post!
Happy Summer! Love the sign. That cracked me up.
Saying hi to one of my favorite people ever. Love you.
Happy Summer! Beautiful post!
Your Greece pictures remind me of how much I would love visiting there; so beautiful! How special to have communion with the priest during the week and to also enjoy the flags and white roses. The dove would be extra special too. I didn't know you were near the Pacific Crest Trail. I have know several that have hiked that trail and one that rode part of it on horse back. What beautiful country they get to see.
Hi Sheri,
We had a lot of Thunder here. A burst of rain for a couple minutes and that was it. The weather has been nice for the most part. I read that the weekend will be in the in the it's I am Looking forward to that. That was interesting to see a dove on someones dash board. I would take that as a sign. Very cool. Have a great week Sheri!
That sounds like a great clip from Rocky. Haven't seen that movie in ages but it feels like part of the world, Rocky. Today so far no rain. Very nice out. Been out a few times and headed back out in a bit. Wishing you a most excellent rest of your week!
Such a lovely post, Sheri. I enjoyed the peaceful moments you shared — the church visit, the white roses, even the surprise dove in the parking lot. Your stories always feel like a quiet walk through your day. The Greece photos are beautiful too. Wishing you a wonderful start to summer.
love light rainy days, too. It's good to see rain drops on growing green leaves and listen to falling rains. I wish you health and happiness.
Yes- a summer rain is so nice. We too have been having wet days. So glad because last summer at this time we were in the midst of a drought. So glad you shared your visit with the priest and what it means as well as the sweet memories from the past come to mind. I know our church was always open and you could just stop in anytime...not so anymore...makes me very sad that this had to change. Greece must be a beautiful place to visit. Such great pictures of your family enjoying this lovely country. P.S. (Yes I do still hang out my clothes - bet the neighbors have a good laugh when they catch sight of those granny panties (LOL) - Hugs
Lovely photos from Greece of your kids and grandkids. The white roses look beautiful. The times they are a changing!! Things are not like they used to be.
Oh my, those girls have grown up so fast. Loving your little place up in the mts. Looks so adorable. I am in 3rd yr of taking my blank canvas of a new yard and making it my own. This time last yr I crashed when my vit b, d and iron tanked. I have numbers back up but its taking its time for me to be back to where I was, cooler temps and low humidity has helped me to be able to get out and play in the yard...and when I say play, I mean WORK. Trying to make it mine, stamp my personality on it.
I remember watching all the Rocky movies, but I am of the age where I cannot for the life of me pick out scenes like that. You live in a pretty place, and such lovely weather. Here it is hot and muggy and I am about ready to start snow-birding to other areas from early summer to fall. :) Won't happen, but a girl can dream!
Another lovely post filled with summery moments. Greece looks lovely and sunny and you can tell everyone is having a wonderful time.

That is so special that the priest was there and was willing to give you communion and a blessing. I think it is sad that churches aren't able to keep their doors open anymore. It's so amazing that you not only saw white roses, but also a white dove! Lovely symbolism of your faith.
Sweet photos of your beautiful girls in Greece. Such a wonderful place to travel to.
It must be so interesting to meet all the different people hiking the trail. What an adventure that must be!
Your meal looks yummy and the sign is hilarious and hard to argue with! Lol! Hope you have a lovely week, dear Sheri.
Hugs xo K
Hi Sheri...The girls look absolutely adorable! I am SO HAPPY they got to go on their trip. Were the two husbands there, too? That dove? Do you think it was a sign of the Holy Spirit in your life? I wouldn't doubt it! The yummy food looks very good, too. You take the best photos! Great post! Hugs. Susan
