Well, the forecast said snow last week, and I looked out my window Monday morning, and sure enough, Snow! It was a soft beautiful snow because it was right after a rain. There will be lots of snow pics on here today because when we get a snow in the winter, the neighborhood seems to be content, and out there with their blowers, shovels, and car scrapers, chatting with each other.
The next day, the sun came out and melted the snow, but just for a while.
hmmmm, I am wondering what critter's paws were on the stump in my front yard.
Even though it was snowing, it didn't stop me from going into town and picking up a few things. I ran into my friend, A, and we had a nice visit. Everyone knows everyone up here (literally).
The next two days, we got it big. It was like a white calm filled the air, telling us to slow down a little. The neighborhood was covered in powder.
I've been drinking lots of coffee to stay warm.
And then Friday, the sun came out and glistened on the snow making the whole area sparkle. ✨✨ So, I took a little adventure, which I'll share next time.
I got Jess' gifts in the mail, and I loved them all - a piece of red velvet cake from a delightful shop, a box of See's candy, and a rose candle.
She knows all my favorite pieces. She was still at home when See's opened up in my hometown, and we would go there often and pick out our favorite pieces and go shopping at Hobby Lobby next door. She still remembers which ones I like.
And I guess we were thinking the same thing this week, cause I had a pack of red velvet cookie mix in the cupboard, and I made a batch.
Jess and the babies received ashes on their foreheads at Ash Wednesday Mass. *Ash Wednesday is a Holy day of prayer, reflection, and preparing hearts for the celebration of Easter. You are required to abstain from eating meat that day, (and every Friday during Lent). People get their foreheads blessed with ashes at Mass or a prayer service.
Nel made some chicken espagnole and jambalaya for Mardi Gras weekend. She got the recipes from a cookbook she bought at the Gumbo Shop, which is a Creole Restaurant in the New Orleans French Quarter.
This gave me a laugh.
Barbecue pork with broccoli.
And when you don't feel like cooking, a sandwich stuffed with so many things.....whole grain bread, ham, tomatoes, pickles, mayonnaise, lettuce.
I am the restless wind in love with a rose. ~Rumi
Last week of February - hope it's a pleasant one.

Enjoyed seeing the beautiful snow photos. I love how a blanket of snow can totally change our views and how serene it makes us feel. This is quiet a bit of snow. Cute, Cute pink boots!! they look good on you. don't you love it when a gift arrives and it was sent with so much love? How thoughtful that Jess would know exactly what you like and make this a special gift. AND....Nel's gumbo would certainly be a dish I would love. Those big shrimp!! I enjoy all kinds of gumbos and etouffee's with rice. It's cool here again today....Have an awesome week Sheri, doing what you love to do. hugs
Hi Sheri,
I love the gifts from Jess. So very thoughtful.
I also love, love all the photos of the snow. :-) Your cute pink boots make me smile.
You have made me hungry with all the good eats.
Love, Carla
That little "Sugarplum" at the end of your post is so cute. I would love to give her a smootch or two.
What fabulous gift you received for Valentines Day. Nothing Bundt Cake is my Very Favorite !!!
Now I'm hungry for that sandwich of yours, yummm.
Beautiful snow pictures. I can feel the calm and quiet from here.
Sunny this morning and weather guys say it will get up to 67F.
Tomorrow they say 100% rain..We'll see about that.
Enjoy your week.
Sue
What a delightful post! All the cuteness of adorable little girls, the temptation of delicious looking food and sweets and more than a bit of awe at your beautiful snow. I do love that fence. Is that your house? It's very pretty and covered in a snowy blanket, all the more so!
I love your snow rose! And especially the way the white picket fences look with the tall trees in the snow. I wish there was a Sees around here. But then I would weigh 500 pounds!
The chicken looks so delicious! I was hoping for snow here but no luck. The kids look so sweet with their forehead ashes. It is Lenten season. Blessings.
Hello my Friend (and fellow ashes wearing Sister in the Lord). Lol I have seen you from visiting other mutual friends blogs and thought I would say hello. Your pics are so lovely. I from northern WI and we are still living in lots of snow and it takes a long time for Spring to arrive- so I just keep reminding myself how lovely it is. But it's still fun to dream on Spring in the meantime. Blessings on your week ahead. xo
Loved the girl's photos - so cute. We had snow last Thursday. About 2 inches. Then it stopped and by the afternoon, it was melted and gone. But those morning hours were awesome as I watched it gracefully float from the sky like manna from heaven. Charming. Take care, Sherri
What a fun week with all that snow and good food, then See's and Red Velvet cake too. Yummm! Now I am wondering what critter was walking in your yard.
Oh, my goodness. You sure did get some snow - a small amount at first, then you really did get hit. A winter wonderland for sure.
Do you like it that everyone knows everyone I think I would.
I like French roast too. My favorite.
I also see that you love red velvet - that is my daughter's favorite too. And my granddaughter's.
I like that meme you put on there - common sense.
Your sandwich looks good too. And pork roast.
We don't really celebrate Mardi Gras here - but it does look like fun.
I think Charolette is so cute in her pink tutu.
Love everything.
Your Valentine's gifts were perfect for you! Love the pictures of all the snow... we did get a little snow this week, but it has all melted again. It is true that the world is so quiet when it snows - glorious! A sandwich is perfect indeed, one of my favorites when I don't feel like cooking too! I pray you and your family have a blessed Lent season. Blessings to you dear friend!
The snow pictures are so idyllic and radiate a wonderful tranquility. And I love your pink boots.
The red cake is fantastic, and the coffee must taste especially good in the rose-patterned mug.
Nell's jambalaya looks delicious!
Sorry, I made a typo, I meant to write Nel.
Stunning snow shots dear friend
Jess gifts are lovely and delicious
Your grandchildren are precious ♥️🙏
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I don't think I am familiar with Smallcakes. Is it in Loomis or Roseville? So many places are closing so what was a favorite place is no longer there. So far not much rain. From all of the warnings it was suppose to be quite a day. Tis gloomy and dampish though. It is a good day to stay inside and get a few projects done. I'm looking at your rose teacup again. I just love it and am sure everything just tastes better in it.
Have a great day!
Sue
Now that is a nice amount of snow. We got 24 in. And while it looks really pretty it was no easy to clean. Hmm that food looks good.
Your critter was probably a squirrel..That's the perfect amount of snow..I still have a plowed pile of snow and ice on my front lawn that had 5 more inches added to it last night..It's been too cold for it to melt..That food looks yummy..
It’s like a winter wonderland in your area. A fun photo of the stump with the critter tracks. Sounds like a close neighborhood where you live, how wonderful is that? Love your pink booties! Good coffee weather to go with those chocolates (how thoughtful of Jen remembering what you like), and cake looked good too. Yum on your baking and the other dishes you made. I enjoy a good sandwich. Nel certainly made great dishes. Thanks for the smiles. Always great to catch up with you and your sweet family. Have a wonderful rest of the week Sheri.
Your snowy yard is beautiful! It is nice when neighbors are out after it snows. It is the best time when finished to go back in for hot chocolate.

I always find snow interesting... Something i dont see here
This makes me so happy. You know how i love happy mail. You deserve it.
Delicious food and yummy desserts. At this time I am trying to not use my Phone too much and pray more ... Charlotte is a beauty! Just adorable! Love your gorgeous snow photos. Keep warm.
We did not get our usual snow fall this year and I miss it. When it snows it seems the whole world is quiet, and blanketed in a soft blanket of white. Such pretty pictures.
It seems that everyone on the East coast was hit with snow. My kids had over 30 inches!!! It's good that you can still get around in the snow. Glad you got your Valentine package and could enjoy your special desserts and candle. I don't like being in the snow - but I love looking at it and alway found a good blizzard exciting while it was coming down, A winter wonderland,
Sending you a happy greeting.
Sheri all your snow pictures are lovely. I am glad you were blessed. We have been extremely blessed this year and I am looking forward to seeing spring's arrival now. Looks like Jess found the perfect presents...see's candy is delicious. We don't have them around here but have been given a box at Christmas at the office. Bet those red velvet cookies were so good. Well enjoy your snow and cozy in and stay warm. Sending you a hug.
Thank you, Roger, for following us. I appreciate that very much. : )
I like a sandwhich stuffed too.Fun. Or like tonight it was everything fried rice. Bunch of leftovers getting together for a party in the cast iron skillet. Great shots of snow. Love the shoes.
Oh how magical that must have looked 🤍 There’s something so special about that first snow — especially when it comes right after rain and settles into that soft, quiet blanket. It feels like the whole world pauses for a moment.
I can just imagine how beautiful it was outside your window Monday morning. Please share all the snow pictures — winter like that deserves to be captured and enjoyed! ❄️✨
Oh Sheri, those were beautiful photos! You are a great photographer. And Francesca! What a little darling rose she is. Great post. Hope your weekend is splendid! Hugs. Susan
