Thankful For New Appliances

Good Morning, and welcome August!

August is a good month for my family, with Mia and Charlotte's birthday and Jess' anniversary in the midst of it all.  It was also my mom and dad's anniversary.

My oven was on the brink of disaster.  It wasn't heating up, and it was just too old to get the parts to fix it, so a new stove/oven was ordered for me.  I didn't know the type or brand it would be, and I didn't ask; he just said it would be a surprise, but that he ordered the nicest one they had.  I love it! - it has a grill on the stove to make grilled cheese sandwiches and such.  New appliances are always fun to get.

And my first batch of cookies baked in the new oven.

Did your kids have fun playing with the cardboard boxes when they were little?  Such a simple thing can bring hours of joy.  My kids used to love them.  And so it goes with each generation.

Meals this week.

And I have to ask my Texas friends about these sausages.  I haven't tried them yet, so I was hoping for good reviews.

Have to always stop for red roses.

Nel made this cake for her father-in-law.  It's a Baseball inspired theme because he loves Baseball, especially the Dodgers.

Speaking of Dodgers, I came across these peanuts at the store.  No canned peanuts for me; I love the old-fashioned ones that you have to crack open.  Peanuts are packed with protein!  I tell you, the day after I ate them, I had a burst of energy.

I had a zoom chat yesterday with Nel and Jess and kids.  We talked about school starting, new school clothes, and latest happenings.  Nel and Jess remember having at least one week of new school clothes at the beginning of each school year.  The kids were scrunching their cheeks and making faces and cracking me up.  Once I start laughing with them, it's hard to stop.  Nel showed me her new Disney cup.

And she sent over a video of her and Mia baking a peach pie.  When she lived in Georgia, she loved baking those peach pies, as it is widely known as the "Peach State." 🍑  *these aren't videos, just pictures.

Do you know that Georgia has around 70 roads in the state named after peaches?  Peachtree Street is one of them.

Well, we are supposed to have some cooler days here in August.  We'll see.  ; )  My heart is looking forward to Fall, and we usually get rain at that time.

Love your new stove! It has good sturdy cast iron burner grates. I’m particular about stoves. Love the stainless steel oven knobs too. I much prefer gas stoves too.

Wow what a nice baseball birthday cake. I bet Nel’s FIL loved that cake!

Yes who doesn’t enjoy cardboard boxes as kids. Now it’s for me cat. I always leave a new one out for her to jump in and play before it gets recycled.

Wishing you a beautiful August week.

Hello, oh you are right, a new oven/range is so nice. We got one in 2023 and love it. :-)
I LOVE the cake. Placing the cracker jacks on top is so creative. Our son Atticus is a baseball fan, I will have to remember this cake for his May birthday.

I love any fruit pie, but that peach sounds amazing. The birthday cake is amazing too. How lovely to have a new stove. What a treat. I always carry peanuts in the car when I take a road trip, just for that energy when I get sleepy.

Sheri - I think your new stove looks fantastic. It certainly did an excellent job on those cookies. I know you will enjoy fixing delicious dishes. Your daughter is so talented with the cakes...what a great looking piece of art. Is it not wonderful that in today's world we can do face-to-face time and zoom. Bet your granddaughters love seeing you. Red roses are a favorite of mine too. Well hope you enjoy some cooler days and brings you a bit of rain. We are finally a little bit less hot and at night in the 50's - great sleeping weather. Well take care friend. Hugs!

What a fun month for you. About the raspberries. I get mine for excellent prices at both Aldi and Grocery Outlet. The funny thing is, at GO, the organic raspberries are a better price than the regular. Then we also have a local grocery store owned by one Ma and Pop and they do good deals too. Hope you have can find some berry good deals near you. PS: Same with cherries. Still at 2 bucks a pound here. Good deals if you have those kinds of discount stores.

Tiene más cuenta comprar un electrodoméstico nuevo que reparar uno con el que llevamos usando demasiados años.

Ooooo. what a wonderful blessing to get a new deluxe stove. how nice to have the grill to use for all kinds of toasted sandwiches and such. Sorry to say Sheri, but this particular brand of sausages are not sold in our area. Most likely they are sold in the bigger cities. Your month of birthdays sounds much like ours. Sending Birthday wishes to each of yours. Oh goodness....the girls playing in the box brings back so many memories of when my girls did this. And the best part is, a cardboard box doesn't cost anything. It was always so nice to have a weeks worth of new "back to school" clothes and new shoes....Great memories for sure. This was sure a very sweet photo of your parents...August is here and we both have a lot to celebrate...hugs..

Happy birthday month to all in your zone! And wow -- that stove is fantastic. I love cooking on a gas stove and they're so wonderful now. But that grill -- that's a feature I don't have on mine and what a pity -- that would be terrific. Loved each photo of the girls and all. What a treasure to have that photo of your parents.

Awesome oven! Barb wanted a Viking oven in the worst way when we built the house, but we just could not justify it with all the other expenses we were incurring at that time.
