I'm slowly getting better, but still feel fatigued. I've never had anything like this before, with allergies and my muscles tightening and just feeling awful. I went into the city last week, and I had a driver, of course, because who wants to drive the highways and freeways at my age? There are two drivers up here that get you to where you need to be, and this time R. drove me. I call them "badass" because they will drive in the sleet, rain, and snow. And I am so thankful for them. I really like R's wife as well, who accompanied us on one of the trips to my hometown. Here are a few pictures of the drive to the city.
I didn't realize, but R. used to be a photographer when he was younger, and he had many cameras. Little 'ole me has one. He has driven this road a hundred times, so he pointed out a few things along the way. Wouldn't it be nice to have your name on a tree after you're gone?
Someone painted this rock to look like Snoopy. I've seen it many times, but until now, I didn't know why the colors were so different on the rock and what it all meant.
This old house used to be a stagecoach stop, and then later a Brothel.
On the way back, he wanted me to see the windmills, so he drove to a higher elevation, 4,000 ft. to see them. There was already snow on the ground.
I made some tostadas one afternoon that were really good.
Some days, we just need to order a pizza.
My son saw the movie, Napoleon, with Joaquin Phoenix. He said it was really good.
As for me, I've been watching the Lifetime Christmas movies. I really enjoyed A Very Vintage Christmas. There's a bit of a mystery in the show too. I love old things, so this was right up my alley. ; )
I saw this brooch on a friend's blog. Isn't it the prettiest thing?

And I have to show you Charlotte's three month picture. She's such a smiley baby.
Baking sugar cookies around Christmastime has been a tradition in our family for years.
A Merry Christmas season to you.

Charlotte made me smiling too.
I hope and wish you feeling much more better day by day <3
The Photos are amazing, so many special Things on your way. I am glad that you have a Driver. Thanks R.
A merry Christmas season Sheri
Wonderful photos ! Love the pic of that horse! I saw Napoleon and thought is was ok. I didn't love it but my husband thought it was great! Glad you are starting to feel better. Still take care of yourself.
Need to see that smile. Thank you.
Nice drive. Snow is nice as well when it is only deep enough to cover the ground. What a smile! Charlotte is adorable as ever.
Iam glad you are feeling better. Take it easy, though, because is does take time to get strength back.
Oh Dear Lord, May baby Charlotte never stop smiling! She is the cutest little baby - and her smile is radiant. What a JOY she is. It's hard to believe she is 3 months already. Yikes, time does fly.
That stage house/brothel looked better when we moved up here and I have seen it decline in the last 15 years. I did not know it used to be a brothel.
Oh, that pizza looks so good. Gotta have pizza in my regular diet. I know I know, not exactly healthy...Yum with the tostadas. We make them a lot as well - a nice simple lunch.
I'd like to see that movie, Napoleon. I enjoy historical dramas.
Looks like you are in the "holiday spirit" with all the baking etc. I haven't done anything yet - not even decorating but that is starting today. It's not that I am not in the Christmas mood, because I am - especially after this weekend, with Christmas concerts and such around town.
I hope you have a splendid week, enjoying nature - and home (and pizza?) Love, Debby
Dearest Sheri,
You sure had a very special and kind driver!
So many interesting things you show with their history.
No doubt you're soon your old self again and don't forget at our age, we don't bounce back as quickly as spring chickens!
Wish I had my muscle strength and weight back...
Hugs,
Mariette
Charlotte is so cute and adorable. What gorgeous brooches! Beautiful landscapes. Sweet tradition... I do love pizza! I hope you get better soon. Blessings.
Charlotte is such a cutie.
Nice that you have someone to drive you around.. even better that he acted like a guide as well.
What a fun road trip to have someone share the history with you. :-)
Charlotte is so sweet. xx oo
Happy December my friend.
Carla
Sheri, your area is so lovely. How nice to have someone else do the driving, particularly when you're not feeling well. I do hope you will soon be back to yourself! Charlotte is the sweetest little one! So happy! And those cookies make me want one right now with my tea. Take care of yourself and rest well, my friend.
Now that was a beautiful blog and read.
First of all let me say I am sorry you are still not feeling well - that is way too long - I hope you get healed soon.
From the beautiful ride - and so good that you have two drivers - I would love that too - you really do look like you live deep in the country. I am amazed at how much empty land there is and all the trees - so wonderful.
So Bess had a tree gown where she was born - interesting.
Okay I really do not see Snoopy in the photo - please explain.
Stagecoaches - and brothels - boy there are some real historic things out there too.
That bronze horse? WOW. Windmills.
The tostados looked good - but boy the pizza - both sides went right to my heart - we have yet after 30 years - find a really good pizza here in GA. But we are from Chicago where the pizza is terrific.
I might watch a Very Vintage Christmas.
Charlotte is BEAUTIFUL and I just love her smiles.
And lastly the brooch in the hair was exquisite. Lovely, Delicate.
Loved your post.
Beautiful sky!
Sorry you were not feeling well.
So sorry you are still not feeling well. I hope you turn around the corner tomorrow.
Charlotte is a joy! She is such a happy baby. Thank you for taking us on this wonderful drive, it all looked very picturesque with such interesting sights along the way. Food looks yummy too. Happy week to you Sheri and feel better soon my friend.
Sheri,
That is so nice you have someone there to drive you where you want to go. I hate driving. Especially now days. Charlotte is so cute. I love her smile. Adorable!
It is time to start baking treats besides sourdough. I need to do that soon!
I have been watching Hallmark and Great American Christmas movies.
Have a great week!
Lovely, lovely, lovely photos, Sheri.
Charlotte is ADORABLE!
How nice to have someone chauffeur you around.
I do hope you will be back to yourself soon.
Sending you lots of hugs and positive vibes 🌹
the landscape photos look so peaceful, sheri! anyway, 20 days left 'til Christmas! :") Have a wonderful December!
I'm so sorry you've still been not feeling well Sheri. There is definitely a mean bug going around, it visited us last week. I hope you are feeling better! So thankful for your driver to take you into town. The drive is beautiful and so many interesting things to see! We love to bake Christmas cookies here as well, it is such a good season to enjoy them! And what a sweet baby smile, just precious! Lots of happy good things to be thankful for! Many blessings to you :)
We too have been getting our Christmas movie fix in as well on both the Hallmark Channel and Amazon Prime. It is always fun to watch, but there only seems to be a dozen or so themes they appear to follow.
Apart from feeling so terrible, so many other things look fun. Your ride is wonderful. I love the Snoopy rock and it's beautiful territory. I'm so glad you enjoy R and his wife. And what an adorable looking little girl -- Charlotte looks so sweet, Sheri! Ive seen some Christmas movies and "Napoleon" interests me too. But alas, haven't baked yet -- that will be next week, in time to get the cookie plates delivered.
I hope you're better every day. You take care!
Dear Sheri ~ I'm sorry to read you have been sick. I pray that you will be better soon. I've been sick since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Am feeling better, but this thing is slow going. A lot of people are dealing with sickness this holiday season.
I thoroughly enjoyed your jaunt away from your home. So much to see and enjoy. I'm not crazy about those huge wind turbines. Some changes are hard to take.
Little Charlotte is a real sweetie pie.
Have a lovely Christmas season. I'm enjoying Christmas movies also. ;-)

I'm glad that you're getting better. I hope you fully recover soon. Love these photos as always.

I can feel the warm air in the car.
Your conversations must have been developing.
Sheri glad to read that you are getting better. Hope by the time Christmas comes you will be feeling like yourself again. So nice you have drivers that will take you into the city. Living out has its charms but it also has it challenges. Hmm peppermint tea sounds wonderful. The pics of Snoopy and the brothel had me smiling for sure. The most favorite was Baby Charlotte - what a sweetie. Take care and have a great weekend. Hugs!
Charlotte's smile is contagious!
How lovely to have a driver available in your town.
I haven't made sugar cookies in a few years. They look delicious!
Dear Sheri. I am SO SORRY you have been under the weather. Hope things are atleast a little better by now. Lots of details in your sweet post. The sweetest of the sweet is Miss Charlotte.
I am so tired . Think I'll try to go to get ready for beddy bye. Nighty night, dear Sheri.
Sheri, I'm so sorry you've been struggling with the problems that allergies have brought you. I'm glad you're getting help but please take care. I don't think I realized that the area you moved back to was near your hometown. The drive to your doctor's appointment was certainly beautiful. I've wondered about the movie Napoleon, the trailers make me want to see it. Like you, I am enjoying Christmas movies on television. I've even found some lovely ones on YouTube on my television. I'm sure I've seen the one you mention at some time. They do make me happy. Granddaughter Charlotte looks like such a happy baby!
Merry Christmas to you, dear Sheri!
I can feel your pain with allergies and muscle tightness. R., the 'badass' driver, deserves major kudos for navigating all weather. The supportive community, including R.'s wife, is fantastic. The city drive pics are a nice touch. Wishing you a quick recovery and more enjoyable trips ahead!
