September Showers!

My brother-in-law asked if I wanted to meet him for breakfast at a cafe' in town.   He had to come into town to do this and that, so I said, "sure."  I ordered my usual pancakes, because they are so good, with three sausages on the side.

I haven't seen him in while, cause he was gone all Summer on a music tour in the south, and he just got home.  It was a wonderful experience for him, playing the keyboards, and visiting many different states in the south.  He sent me a couple pictures of some of the sites he saw along the way.

It was such a nice visit catching up.  He has always had a good personality, and has a knack for telling interesting and funny stories.

He is back traveling again for a few weeks, and headed for Seattle, home of the original Starbuck's.

I told him to bring me back something, as Starbuck's is my favorite.  ; )

After breakfast, I headed over to the grocery store, and when I saw this door mat, I had to bring it home with me.  It made me smile, as this was the title of my last post.

My neighbor made some Wontons with mushrooms, pork, and ginger, and a curry and soy sauce to go with them.  She brought some over for me to try.  I didn't get a picture, cause they were so good that I gobbled them up.

I always think of my mom in September.  Maybe because it is her birth month, or maybe it's that September is a calm month for me, and she was a calm mother, or maybe it's because school starts in September, and she always went above and beyond to make her five children's school year a good one.  Whatever the reason, I think of her.  She used to make hot chocolate and toast, and when the butter would melt a little, we would dip the toast in the hot chocolate and eat it.  She kept the toast coming, and I remember having two or three slices each time.   I had some cocoa and bread and butter, so I thought about making this one day.  The only difference is that she used the Nestle Quik, which was popular when I was growing up....and still widely used today.

While I was enjoying my hot chocolate and toast, I thought about my mom.

Disney is all decked out for Halloween already, and I love this picture of Jess and Francesca making a scary face.

It's supposed to rain this week!   It's cooler now, in the 50's and 60's, and I even had to turn my heater on for a few days.  Getting my flannel shirts and sweaters ready to go.  Happy Fall!

Have you got a new header? Pretty! so this is the first ever Starbucks? To me, It looks like something you would see in an English village. Really cool looking. Your brother-in-law plays with a band? Now I want toast and hot chocolate, AND I have the Nestle's Quick!

It sounds like you are ready to celebrate fall.
What a lovely memory of your mom with the hot chocolate and toast.
Love your new door mat too.
Being in the land of many Starbucks it is amazing there isn't a Starbucks in every town. I often buy small gift certificates for family members to tuck in their Christmas stockings.
Happy Autumn Days!

You are having a delicious September, Sheri. I would love a feast of toast and hot chocolate - maybe I will organize it. What a nice way to remember your mother. I find little things every day remind me of my mother, and I like to have some of her thing in my house. That door mat is perfect for you, as you really do Fall and Pumpkins very attractively. That is a gorgeous picture of the Grand Canyon. I have only seen it from a plane, but I believe it is an amazing place to visit. Jess and Francesca are really getting into the Disney and Halloween spirit. Have a great week.

Good morning dear Sheri!

Fall is on its way here too. It has been pleasantly warm and sunny, however, but now that my husband and I have COVID, we are having to stay inside. I tried so hard to avoid getting this...

Enjoy the ushering in of such a magical time!

I can't believe how big your granddaughter is. She is still as adorable as ever. How wonderful that your brother was able to visit. I miss my brother (only sibling) so much--especially this time of year. My mind takes me back to the farm and all the fall things that he and I shared there.

We had toast and hot chocolate milk and did the same thing. I thought that died out with my generation but I used to do it with my own kids, too.

Love your door mat! Hugs- Diana

It sounds like you're having a wondeful September Sheri! I remember the Quick Can! This takes me back to Kindergarten in the early 90's after school when I would a glass of chocolate milk made with Quick! Enjoy the cooler temps my friend! It's feels more like Summer here as we are going through a heat wave!

How lovely to enjoy that time with your brother. I enjoy September. The weather is usually much to my liking and I, too, have fond memories with it. Starting school, my last trip with my mom was in September years ago, quieter times at the lake. Loved each and every photo, too!

It sounds like your September is a nostalgic one.
Nice that you had a lovely visit with your BIL.
It will be 70F and sunny today before tomorrows predicted rain. But for now it is 30F and so cold. Autumn is here. Lovely day to you.

The toast and hot chocolate reminded me of childhood when we made toast in the oven.
That rug is a real winner! Love your posts!

Cute photos of Jess and Francesca in their Halloween outfits. Neighbors are already decorating for that. Memories of your Mom and the hot chocolate and toast are very sweet. With my Mom it was porridge. Nice to get together with your brother-in-law. The pancakes looked yummy and my favorite coffee experience is Starbucks too. I love the front of that Starbucks. So pretty and quaint! And I liked your new doormat too. Enjoy the rest of your week Sheri :)

Sheri, I enjoyed hearing about your memories of Septembers past as well as current ones. So nice to enjoy having breakfast out with your brother-in-law. It sure looks delicious. I believe I spy a photo of the Grand Canyon. What a glorious place. Francesca and Jess look so cute at Disney. How lucky they are to go there frequently. Happy Autumn, my friend. I hope you enjoy every moment!

LOVE the doormat. That is cute. Glad you had a good visit with your BIL. Its always nice when you visit with someone you have not seen in a bit. I love doing that. Pancakes, my fave. Rather have that than a waffle but with that said, since I had gastric by pass I can not eat syrup. I have learned just butter is okay, but I miss the syrup...So glad you are doing well. Our temps are down, started yesterday, which was perfect for the first day of fall.

Sherry what a great post friend. I too love the month of Sept. It must be our age because my mom would make us toast and hot chocolate also. Sometimes on a cold winter night I find myself having this as a bedtime snack. We would put cinnamon and sugar on top of the toast for an extra special treat. Well it sounds like autumn is coming to be in your part of the woods too. Have a great weekend. So glad too that you had such a nice visit with your brother-in-law. Hope he brings you something good back from Starbucks :)!! Hugs
