I started the new year with a holiday coffee drink. I mentioned before that there is a coffee shop in my town, a drive-through, that makes specialty coffee drinks. Me and my son drove through, and I ordered a peppermint patty latte, and he got a peppermint pretzel latte. They were both so good and warmed us up. My neighbor told me that we are in for some cold weather this week, 12 and 14 degrees.
I made a bowl of oatmeal to warm me up also, with bananas. I found this cranberry health mix at the store and added it, and it was really good.
Not sure why, but I love blue in the home for January.
My blog friend, Susan, sent me one of her cobalt vases, which I love. It was wrapped so nicely in the mail, and such a thoughtful gift.
I put away all my Christmas stuff the day after, and Jess is always baffled when I put away holiday decorations so soon cause she usually leaves things out until the new year. But that was Ok this year, cause I had decorations out for two months, so it was time for me. The only thing I kept out was my snow fairy.
I filled out my calendar already for the year. I noticed Renecke will turn 40! He still looks great.
I can't believe the ginormous icicles that are lining the eaves of my house. They are beautiful, but I don't dare get under them, cause I heard they can be harmful if they fall on you.
I hope the first week of the new year is good to you.

Looks like a snowy winter there for you, Sheri. I haven't touched Christmas stuff yet because I haven't felt like it. I usually take it down New Years Day but not this year.
Your coffee sounds wonderful. I am giving up my daily habit and will do it only on occasion.
I hope you have a wonderful week. xo Diana
Holiday decorations put away sounds wonderful. Lovely pictures.
The holiday special drink for me is eggnog. This year I will make my own as the store bought is sort of missing the link to the eggs. Decorations are stored away here as well. :)
Happy New Year!
I've been watching the weather and wondering if you are in the deep snow and deep freeze for that part of the state. How nice to have a good warm house and yummies that warm you up too! Happy New year my friend!
Hello! And Happy and Blessed New Year to you! Your warm drink sounds delicious! And your wintry scene! It is beautiful and cozy. Here in Pennsylvania, it is warm and balmy. On New Years Day, it was 50 degrees! Ugh! Have a relaxing day. Stay warm!
Yes, watch out for those ice daggers and also for snow that will slide off the house! Winter: Beautiful, but a bit dangerous. I love the blue for true winter. It seems to be the perfect choice, what with snow and then all the very early blue flowers that will arrive, like Glory in the Snow and all the muscari family of flowers.
Your cobalt vase is beautiful. I grew up in Wisconsin and loved those dangerous diamond like icicles. Now I think that for a murder mystery novel they would make a good murder weapon. They would melt so no finger prints, ha ha.Happy New Year.
Lovely photos;-)
Lovely photos.
You have far more snow than we do. I don't even like coffee but peppermint latte sounds good -- and warm! A lovely post, a beautiful gift from your friend, and wonderful photos, all. A grand start to the new year!
I love the blue platter and verse. Sounds like you and winter are friends. I am dreading the expected possible snow. I heard there are only 70 something days until spring. Our weather has been so crazy I still have roses blooming and new growth on flowers erupting. Happy New Year.
Those icicles look lethal, do NOT walk under them! The coffee drinks sound SO good, they are the exact same kind that I would order. Your Snow Fairy is so lovely, I have never seen one like her. And you can leave her out all winter, as she is not specifc to Christmas. I'm going to look for one on Amazon. The blue vase is stunning! And I love the beautiful painting beside it.
I love blue and red with snow - I agree.
I was ready to put up our tree too - to go on to the next thing.
Those ice cycles CAN kill you - so don't go under them! lol
Stay warm.
Hello,
I love blue too.
I got my calendar updated too.
Your son is handsome. :-)
Love You!
Carla, that's my son-in-law (Nel's husband). : )
My Christmas is all packed up and put away the day after Christmas each year. I put out random stuff for January and then it is Valentines stuff in February.
I love the icicles. We had some really nice ones when we lived in Montana when I was young.
The coffee sounds yummy.
And your blue vase is really pretty. My Grandma collected blue plates etc. She loved blue and I love green.
Enjoy your week and stay warm! Brrrr
Your coffee sounds lovely, Sheri. And your cobalt vase is beautiful.
So glad we connected - I am looking forward to blogging with you in 2022!
I love all the blue and what a nice treat to receive that pretty blue vase. Is that your home in the painting? It's beautiful.
The latter half of January is the coldest time of a year here. Cherry trees are ceaselessly growing their buds against the severe coldness even in snowfalls. People admire the beauty of cherry blossoms that could continue only a week. Scientists would admire its strength in winter. Nothing has happened all at once.
Happy New Year Sheri,
Your mountain Winter Wonderland is absolutely gorgeous! I love the snow too and all of the cozy feels that surround it.
Thinking next year we will be on my Idaho Farm and hopefully blanketed in snow.
Stay safe and cozy dear girl.
Wonderful photos!
Jemma
I love those icicles.. probably a good idea to keep your distance from them.
My husband has been taking everything down - since I can't it's frustrating for me not to be doing it.
Love the icicles
HAPPY NEW YEAR. Your snow pictures delight me. what a beautiful place you live. it looks like you had a wonderful holiday. that story about the orange filled my heart with joy. a special gift indeed. I sent you Christmas greetings via e-mail. but i'm not sure you got them. I've been down for the count with back problems, in tremendous pain. the holidays were miserable. thats why i haven't been commenting or writing. I hope 2022 finds us where we need to be. Take care dear blog buddy.
Good morning dear Sheri! I missed your blog post yesterday morning.
Here we are in 2022. Sounds so futuristic!
We used to get a lot of icicles and one year, we had this GORGEOUS but very long icicle that I broke off and used as a unicorn horn for a photo!
I too love blue in my home in January. It's a happy color that is often mistaken for sadness but for me, it speaks of blue skies, lakes and seas...a time to dream.
It's so strange seeing all the show and the icicles around your house when it's so hot and humid here in Australia, haha! Hope you stay warm!
Happy new year, hope that the first week of 2022 is going well for you :)
Away From The Blue
WOW...look at all that snow. It is really deep on the tables. I love it. Beautiful...so beautiful. I love blueberries all year, all the time. I like to put them in my water. Once I finish my water, I eat the blueberries. Natter if fact I think I hear a glass of water with blueberries calling my name......yay.
That cobalt vase is beautiful. Blue is a good color for January now that you mention it. I take down the tree the day after but leave the nativity set for a good long while.
Sheri it certainly looks like you are getting cozy and prepared for January...I love blue and white dishes of every kind. Blue is the perfect color for January. I have been enjoying French vanilla cappuccino this past week. Perfect beverage for a long winter's night. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs
I'm glad to see all is well in your world. I've sure missed reading your posts. Happy New Year my friend!
Those peppermint pretzel lattes sound good! You have had a lot of snow too from the look of it. We’re expecting more tonight. Your blue pieces are lovely, as is Sue’s cobalt vase. Your snow fairy is very pretty. We still have our decorations out as I was late and still enjoying. I think perhaps I will start putting them away next week after our company has gone home. Happy Birthday Renecke! And that is a very cute picture. I enjoyed your post, great photos and loved the illustration with the quote. Thanks Sheri! Happy and Healthy New Year to you all :)
Beautiful post as ever...Love.
Now that you have mentioned it, the icicles can be a real potential danger. Be careful and be safe.
Oh how I envy people who can still
have as many coffee as they want,
my acid reflux acts up these days
whenever I take coffee:(
Be careful with those icicles.
And the snow fairy looks so lovely.
I super love your last quote Sheri.
It gives me hope and encouragement. ♥
