This And That In July

You know, since I moved to the mountains, I haven't had cable for 6 months!  Yes, half a year, because I got so tired of turning on the tv and seeing all the nonsense going on in the world.  The news showed many bad and violent happenings, so I just needed a break for awhile.  But I felt like I was missing some of the good shows, so I had cable installed last week.  And with July comes the Hallmark Christmas in July shows.  I think Candace Cameron Bure is my favorite Christmas actor.  ; )

July has been good to me, but there are some days when you just need a cup of coffee in the afternoon and a treat.

I have to show you the fabulous cake that Jess made Nel for her 40th.  It was a birthday funfetti cake inside with buttercream frosting.  On the sides of the cake she made her homemade macarons, which are very time consuming.  It was delicious, and it looked like a work of art.

For Nel's 40th, the girls went to a spa for the day.  There were massages, a hot tub, pools, healing hot springs, and a nice lunch afterwards.  Here is Nel and Jess and Nel's sister-in-law taking a mud bath.  What a fun day.

I bought this glass jar at the home shop and am going to fill it with candy for my family when they come to visit soon.  It's really nice and sturdy.

My mini roses are coming along, and my pink bush is getting fuller every day.  This is the peach one.

I can't wait to see these little ones.  I won't be able to stop kissing them.

It's been pretty hot here, in the 100's, but supposed to cool down a little this week....hopefully.

I must confess, you're not my favorite season.  ; )

Perfect cake and what a perfect way to clebrate a 40th birthday. Love the Hall mark channel and your cutie patooties. Kissin is the same as getting more sugar from the grands.

Hi .Sheri, I love the Hallmark Christmas in July movies too and Candace is my favorite actress. Just now, I enjoyed a graham cracker and a cup of coffee for my special treat. Your cookies look delicious. The cake Jess made Nel is wonderful. It looks and sounds like they had a great day celebrating a special birthday. You, your daughters and granddaughters are beautiful. I know you look forward to the family visiting soon, the candy dish will be a big hit. When Karen’s kids were young, I always had a candy dish full of lifesavers for them to enjoy. Summer heat is not my favorite either but I am enjoying butterflies and hummingbirds visiting the Lantana. Have a great afternoon, 🌹

Your treats look yummy, and that cake!! Wow, so pretty! Jess did good! Now I want cake!

How nice that the girls got some spa time! And that candy canister is going to be something fun thing for visitors to look forward to. Hope you show us what you decided to put in there!

Your roses are beautiful, and so are your sweet grands!

Gorgeous cake, roses, and girls! I love it all, Sheri, and I'm so happy you are loving your new mountain life.

I'm about to cut the cable cord. I got a roku and now that Hallmark and so many other places have streaming services, I don't think I need it anymore. I just need to be sure all my faves are available and then bye-bye!

Happy 40th birthday to your daughter. That cake looked delicious and I bet it was. Your granddaughters are cuties. I don't like Candace Cameron Bure at all. Not even a little bit. Not just because she's a bad actress but because she's an annoying human being.

Good morning Sheri!

Though I love summer for its carefree spirit, garden adventures and summer activities, the heat is TOO MUCH to bear! But how nice that you get to see your family. I know you will have something special for them and that the girls will be so happy to see you.

HUGS to you!

Wow, that is an amazing birthday cake, and I met it tasted delicious. How good it is for you to get Hallmark - it stopped showing on our cable and I miss it. Your peach roses are so beautiful in the sunshine and doing well in that heat. In the 100s is too much! I hope you can keep cool dear Sheri.

No fan of summer here, either! I feel that we pay for cable just to have the service when something worthy to watch comes along. I hadn’t remembered “Christmas in July” on Hallmark! Thanks for the reminder! We’ve been enjoying watching softball/baseball this summer. Yay for your miniature roses! Mine just don’t seem to thrive at all. What fun you’ll have with your family visit! Happy birthday wishes! The cake looks amazing!

Summer is my least favorite season too!
I love the Hallmark Christmas in July movies too and Candace is my favorite actress. We are a lot alike.
I know you are going to have a blast when the family gets there - what kind of candy are you going to put in there?
Love the 'peach' roses too.
I hope they are coming soon!

Hi!! Sweet granddaughters. I was never lucky enough...two grandsons & one is married already. I'm old. But never too old to dip my fingers in your candy dish on my next visit. 😄

That cake looks magnificent. Glad I stopped by to introduce myself

I know the Hallmark movies are sappy but I love the Christmas ones and the autumn ones! Any time of year. I am in awe of that cake. Gorgeous! The temps you are facing in the MOUNTAINS is amazing to me. Too hot for you! What a varied climate in those pretty mountains you now call home!

So lovely to enjoy the Christmas in July shows, especially when its so hot here! What a special day your daughters spent together celebrating! It is a great milestone to celebrate, for sure! Your cookies and tea looked like a wonderful afternoon pick-me-up for sure! The heat really drains you. I do love summer, and the benefits of the garden, but I am looking forward to fall, with its crisp clean air and harvest season. Many blessings to you dear friend!

Sheri I agree Candace Bergman is my favorite actress too. Love her Aurora Tea Garden series on the Hallmark channel. It looks like your roses are blooming abundantly in spite of the heat. The birthday cake your daughter baked for her sister is beautiful. Hope you are doing your best to stay cool and enjoying your new mountain home. Take care and have a lovely weekend. Hugs!

I enjoy those Candace Cameron Bure Christmas movies also. We ditched cable long ago so I have to go looking for them if I want to watch them. That cake looks amazing! I have a friend who makes macaroons and they do take time but are so worth it. Happy Summer! Fall will be here before we know it.

Hot summer's are not my favorite either.
What a pretty cake. How special that a sister would make that for her sister and share the day at the spa.
Loved your coffee cup with cookies and pretty rose too.
