It's been awhile since I spent Thanksgiving with all the family, but this year we will be together, and I'm looking forward to gathering and being with my loved ones on Thanksgiving day.
My mom's Thanksgivings were nothing fancy, but she always had good foods to eat that day. Every year she used her Mother's gravy boat, and when she passed, I got this treasured item and have used it through the years on my own table at Thanksgiving. She was funny about putting the names at the bottom of the items that people gave her. I always thought that was a smart idea, and sometimes do the same.
I used to read this book to my children when they were little. They always loved it.
One day on a bike ride, Jess saw a sign that said, "coffee now open" at this Catholic Church right on the ocean cliff. So, she rode in to check it out. The church had really pretty grounds with flowers and a fountain. She got a coffee to go, and it felt so nice to sit outside by the fountain and have her coffee. Francesca loved her milk in her little coffee cup. Then, they walked around the grounds, and Francesca and Jesus discussed peace. Oh, how I want to frame this picture someday.
Nel's chalkboard art. She's getting pretty good at it, and creates messages with each season.
I put away all my Fall cups and brought out my jolly Christmas ones.
And I think I'll have a sugar cookie that my son made to go with my coffee.
I watched The Pope say Mass on tv at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, which was special, indeed. I thought about Jess in her travels when she took a trip to Vatican City years ago.
I miss seeing the turkeys up north. They used to roam through the streets and even trot through the neighborhoods. They were always entertaining to watch.
Speaking of turkeys... isn't this the funniest turkey costume my nephew is wearing? His mom and dad participated in a "run to feed the hungry," and he was about 2 in this picture.
Have you started decorating for Christmas yet?

Sweet Sheri, good morning!
It's always wonderful to scroll through your thoughts. How are you doing, really?
May I propose something? I will come via email.
Good morning!
I love the gravy boat and how your mother wrote the name on it - good idea.
I also love how you girls get together for your coffee.
You daughter has artistic talent with that chalkboard!!
Love the upside down Santa - have not started decorating for Christmas yet.
I just want to let you know I ordered two packages of the pumpkin mix from Amazon $12, and have received them. Have the chocolate ready to melt.
I ordered a ginger bread cookie cutter and will get it tomorrow.
I will be all set to go this weekend.
I will be baking for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for all your help.
Sandie
The turkey costume is adorable! And we have wild turkeys in our community here in FL that we see often. I've put out a few holiday things to brighten the house. I even changed my coffee mug to one with a Cardinal on it....I know you would approve! heehee! Hugs!
Beautiful.
What an adorable little turkey! Please be extra careful getting together with the family this Thanksgiving, it's scary these days!
Wonderful posting.
Hi,
I do love your posts Sheri, they make me smile.
I have started to decorate. I am feeling ready for Christmas this year, to last extra long.. I am in hopes that Christmas will give our nation PEACE. Praying!!
I am pushing my beloved to take down the decorations, and keep pointing out "Oh, look!" He is wearing down a bit.
Hello, Dear Sheri,
So fun to catch up with you and see that you are ready for the holidays! Such a good idea to label the passed down china - love that idea. Your coffee mugs are so cute and makes that morning joe a special treat, especially with home-made cookies baked for you! I had to laugh when I saw your pretty blue cupboard filled with all the toys - isn't it funny how quickly a 'perfect' house goes out the window when we become Grandma's? I have toys stashed everywhere - behind the furniture, inside the furniture, under the furniture....Hahaha! That photo of your precious granddaughter with Jesus' statue is priceless. So happy that you get to celebrate the holidays together. We are in lockdown again :( Sending hugs xo K
I haven't even decorated for Fall yet. This is a first for me. I'm not depressed or anything, just in a mild funk.
We have the neighborhood turkeys that trot down our street this time of year as if to flaunt themselves to all the hunters, "haha you can't get us." They are so cute.
Sounds like a wonderful family time for Thanksgiving. Everything is different this year. Maybe that is why I am in such a funk. Oh well, this too shall pass. God Bless.
I always read A Cranberry Thanksgiving to our kids, and gave two of them a copy when they left home. Our daughter made the bread every year!
We love Cranberry Thanksgiving!!!
The Christmas one is good too.
We decorated this past weekend.
Drinking my coffee in a festive mug makes it taste better, I swear!
Love your gravy boat.
Love that it was your mamma's.
Hugs!
I'm so glad you are going to be with your entire family this Thanksgiving, Sheri. Your Mama's gravy boat is so sweet. As you know I love the things that I have that were from those that came before me. I love hearing that your son made cookies. Your children are all quite talented. Enjoy your time with them this holiday season. I don't start Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving, but your mugs are darling. I'm sure your beverages taste better in those cheerful mugs.
Hello dear Sheri...Thank you so much for your visits and comments on Writing Straight from the Heart. I am always very, very happy when you stop by. Your post is darling. I love the upside down Santa cup. Oh yes, as you know, I've started Christmas decorating but I have a long way to go. I am not going to put as much out this year. I don't want to feel cluttered. But since I have so many collections, that is a challenging goal. ha haha Thanksgiving is going to be very changed this year. Only immediate family, due to the wretched COVID. That killer pandemic is causing all kinds of difficulties among us, isn't it? Gosh. What a terrible year for all of us. Take care, dear Sheri. Sincerely, Susan
I sure have started decorating Sheri...I have the Christmas tree up and glittering, and a few cross-stitch pieces hanging on the walls. One tiny Nativity scene in the hall, and planning on doing the big one at the weekend. I did not know we could watch the pope saying Mass at St Peters. I will try that one day. We are back going to church here, and covid restrictions are being eased so more people can attend. It was lovely to go back. How beautiful is little Francesca with the statue, she is the sweetest kid. Stay safe dear Sheri.
i loved reading your memories about thanksgiving day that you celebrated with your mom !
i know how precious are such treasured memories for a daughter .naming the bottom of the cup sounds like a wonderful tradition :)
your brass kettle reminded me brass utensils that my mom had though they were used rarely in kitchen

Sorry!That is Francesca!Blessings,my dear!
Wonderful images, all. Yes, you must get that photo framed. I'll start decorating for Christmas the day after TG but will probably sneak in a few lights here and there before. We need all the light we can get these days.
It's so good to catch up with you, Sheri. I am working my way down the reading list of blogs and you just left me a comment and two below where I was---well, it was your blog. lol
Love the gravy boat and I have started doing the same with special items, etc.-putting the name on the bottom of them.
I am so glad that you will be able to be with family this year for Thanksgiving. It's just hubby and me this year. We don't dare mingle just yet.
Happy Thanksgiving, my sweet friend. Enjoy every minute of it! xo Diana
I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving together, dear Sheri. We've spent all our major holidays this year in lockdown and they seem all the more precious now, not to be taken for granted again.

I never would have thought of putting the name of the giver with an item. Great idea! All of my Christmas things are up and we are working on the outside lights little by little. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Can you believe we are looking at the end of Nov here? I thought when this virus broke out that the months would move by so slow, but no, it has flown. That would make a beautiful framed pic. Very nice. She is a doll babe.
As fotos são maravilhosas !!
uma alegria , ver tantas coisas bonitas.
A louça é maravilhosa e traz muitas lembranças boas.
o Natal já se aproxima e traz muitas esperanças de um ano feliz.
bom fim de semana.
felicidades.
Lovely pics, and this coming Thanksgiving sure looks exciting for you.
That gravy boat is so cool,
with name and all, yeah some of my Grandma's plates and cooking things
have names too, maybe because people used to borrow things from each other
when there are celebrations.
Have a lovely weekend.

That is so special that you have your mom's gravy boat.
All those turkeys are amazing...lately we don't see that any even out in the wild. That is a sweet picture/memory to have of Francesca.
Oh, no, not decorating for Christmas yet. But I did think about it.
That is the cutest little turkey.
Nell is quite talented..
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family.
We have decided because of COVID not to gather together. My husband and I will cook, package the food up and deliver it to two doors, step back, give a smile and a hello, then come home to eat our food. Our grandson plays with too many kids, which makes it too risky for us.
I put up our little faux Christmas tree with only lights and Thanksgiving things below it, so it is our Thanksgiving tree. After Thanksgiving I will put the ornaments on it. I am loving the lights.
What an adorable turkey! I started decorating for Christmas about 2 weeks ago. Right now I'm back into Thanksgiving mode. I hope you and your loved ones have a Happy Thanksgiving Sheri! Please be safe!
As a sign of gratitude for how my son was saved from autism, I decided to reach out to those still suffering from this.My son suffered autism in 2017 and it was really tough and heartbreaking for me because he was my all and the symptoms were terrible, he always had difficulty with communication, and he always complained of poor eye contact. We tried various therapies prescribed by our neurologist but none could cure him. I searched for a cure and I saw a testimony by someone who was cured and so many others with similar body problems, and he left the contact of the doctor who had the cure to autism. I never imagined autism has a natural cure not until I contacted him, and he assured me my son will be fine. I got the herbal medication he recommended and my son used it and in one month time he was fully okay even up till this moment he is so full of life. Autism has a cure and it is a herbal Mix medicine from Dr. James contact the doctor for more info on other diseases like ALZHEIMER'S DISEASES, DIABETES, BIPOLAR DISORDER, CANCER, HIV/AIDS, HERPES Hepatitis A, B, C. Oh what a touching memory of your mom. This is a great idea. This will be the first Thanksgiving without my Mom she passed away in October. I am going to have my uncle over so that will be nice. Loving these photos here and I will start decorating at the beginning of December.

Your teeny turkey is the cutest turkey I have ever seen. But I do love it when the wild ones wander through. Oddly, I see them often at this time of year.... whispering.... run for you life.
