Firework Brownie

Did you have a nice 4th of July?  A little bit different this year, right?  I went over to Nel's house for lunch.  It was a very small gathering, but that was Ok.  I'm still keeping my distance from large groups, because for me, that gives me peace of mind.  Nel got fried chicken from the store, and she also made a pot of jambalaya.  It was spicy and so tasty.  Her brother loved it.  For dessert, she made a brownie with cream cheese frosting.  With blueberries and strawberries, she made fireworks on top of the brownie.

She found these holiday plates on Amazon.
Aren't they cute?

She got some bubbles and sparklers
for later on in the day.

Mia doesn't like to have her hair done.  It's a chore for Nel to put barrettes or rubber bands in her hair, and she sometimes even cries.  But she managed to get some pigtails, and it looked so cute that day.

Notice the red in the corner of the picture?  That is my Troll with red hair.  It was a joy to watch Mia play with the Troll I've had for so many years.  Nel brought out some of her childhood ones, and it was funny to watch Mia line them up in a row and enjoy.  I was teaching her colors with each Troll's hair haha.

Isn't this the cutest dress that Francesca has on?  Her other grandma bought it for her, and it's darling.  Love the flounce at the bottom of the dress.

With all the craziness that's going on in the world, I keep telling myself we are fortunate to live in a place where we hold freedom in our hands.  That doesn't mean that we take advantage of that freedom, which some people do.   I have had people in my life that abuse their gift of freedom by not showing respect to neighbors, friends, or family members and acting in uncivilized and offensive ways.  Let us always appreciate the freedom we have and show kindness and goodness to the ones around us.

what a delightful holiday you had. your granddaughters are precious. their dresses were beautiful. i must tell you though i got excited about all your trolls. i had the troll house and everything as a young girl. they are safely tucked away upstairs. but just the other day i was cleaning the closet downstairs and found two trolls i had forgotten all about. and one of them had red hair and was holding a flag. just in time for the 4th. love seeing your photos of good times making special memories. you are so blessed to have both your daughters close by. stay safe. take care.

Looks like you had a great 4th! I have a box of my Barbies that I gave my daughter when she was little to play with and they are still here stored in the garage. My granddaughter doesn't play Barbies. I keep thinking that some day she will. The dessert looks yummy! We had a our granddaughter for the day and took her home at dinner time for her own family fun. They were having a bunch of their friends over and I just didn't feel like being around a bunch of people. So we came home and relaxed. It was a very different 4th of July.

Those brownies - looked so good - never thought of frosting them like that.

So glad you hear you had fun. We sat on the back porch and watched the fireworks. I think everyone was setting them off. After today it will be mandatory to wear masks for everyone. We have been doing it every since this thing started.

I cannot believe how big your girls are...but then I feel the same about Lorelei. The time is flying and they are growing up right before our eyes. Both their dresses are so cute. And those paper plates were perfect for the 4th!

Good morning dearest Sheri,

Your grands are SO DARLING. Their little dresses, their smiles, their sharp, curious minds that are storing all of these colors and sounds, tastes and images in their memories. You will be part of that!

I hear you so well about our "freedom." Many have been voicing in my opinion a distorted or rather, an exaggerated definition of what they think their freedoms are. Anytime a citizen espouses the notion that they have the right to cough on, spit on, cuss out or harm another citizen, there is not freedom. There is in fact, a bondage to hate.

Yes my friend, let us be kind to those around us. It takes a lot of courage to do that.
