A Surprise On The Patio

Nel surprised me with a lovely flower pot this weekend.  After she brought it over, I was talking to her for a bit about the types of flowers and plants that I like.  I told her that I didn't really like the vegetation in So. Cal - the birds of paradise, the tropical plants, etc.  Rather I like the simple and minimal look with roses, peonies, daisies.  She said, "oh, more of a French garden."  I said, "yes, that's exactly what I like."  After visiting for awhile, she went outside, turned on her French music and planted these.

She poured mulch all through the patio area, raked it, and made it look nice.  The pot she bought was a cream color, which was a nice contrast with the red roses.  Enjoy the song with the pictures.

Thank you Nel,
I really love my red roses.

You deserve flowers on your doorstep
and coffee in the morning.

Ma chère amie,

This speaks to me (in French and English) so deeply.

I worked a total of 28 years in the areas of learning, studying and teaching French. I am now having to retire from my job due to COVID. There are so many decisions to make this week and your post is gentle and reminds me that God does go wherever any one of us goes. My future is unknown, but I know that the love of God, my love for the French culture, people and language will always fill my heart.

Your roses are stunning. YOU and your Nel and little one are remarkable.

Hi Sheri, I love that French song, and your pretty red rose. I never thought of roses as a French garden but I love the idea. I hope you find some daisies and maybe some lavender as well for your French garden. We live in a sub-tropical area and many people grow palms etc. However we love our roses and when we went to the south of Franch I was surprised how hot it was - and they have plenty of pretty flowers. Hope you are well and safe dear Sheri.

Daughters are good that way - Sons? Not so much. They'd be more apt to bring me over a burger or fries.

What a thoughtful daughter. The red rose is perfection! My daughter now my son would do this, they are so wrapped up in their own heads.

Just look at you three sweet girls! How nice that your daughter did that for you. I love it when kids do things they know you will love. Miss having my youngest daughter living so far away. 9 hours now-it was 2 and then went to 6 hours and now is 9 hours.
It looks like you are settled in and doing well. Stay safe- xo Diana
