January Joy

January has been pretty good to me so far,
and here are some of the things
that  have brought me joy this month.

I found this ornament at my favorite home décor shop in my town.  I liked the words, and just had to get it.

My 2019 calendar!
I usually get a Mary Engelbreit one, but I was a little late this year, and they didn't have any when I went to look, so this was a nice change.  The month of February is my favorite page.

I'm lovin' my copper tea pot.  It's a smaller one, but just right for a single cup of tea or coffee.  And the spout is long, which makes it easier to pour.

Nel and Jess send me pictures of the babies every week.  I don't like to post too many pictures of my grandchildren, but when Nel sent me this, how could I not share it with you?  I thought it was so sweet that although she stayed in for New Year's Eve, her and Mia got all dressed up in their black dresses to ring in the new year.

When I saw this frame, I thought it was so me,
and had to buy it.  I like to treat myself with something in the new year cause it's uplifting.

I hung it above my cluttered desk.  This is the only piece of furniture I have that belonged to my mother, so I haven't been able to part with it.  I want to paint it someday, maybe a white or cream color.

All the rain that we've been having!

I got a surprise visit from Francesca.  She was in town for her other grandma's birthday, and although I only got to spend a short time with her, it was such a treat to see her.

Nel moves back to California this summer!
She really loves Georgia, and it was a great experience for her to live there for awhile, but all of her and Renecke's family is here in California.  It will be good to have my girl back home again.

Some people don't like the cemetery, but I'm just glad that it's close enough to where I can say hello to my mom and dad once in awhile.  As I was driving out, I noticed these red roses that looked so pretty sitting next to Mary's feet.  Mary brings me joy.

Saw some geese at the cemetery.
For some reason,
they always bring me joy.

I saw a friend at church yesterday who I haven't seen in a long time, and it really made my day.   We go way back, to when I was around 13.  Such a good person.

I hope the new year has delivered joy
to you also.

That's my motto for the year, Sheri. To seek JOY down every avenue! We are so blessed aren't we, in so many ways?

Your grandbabies get cuter every time I see them and I know they fill your heart with joy.

Guess what? I couldn't find a ME calendar this year either. I am using one that someone gave me...it is hidden behind my pantry door so at least I am not looking at it all the time.

Have a great day-beautiful post!!! xo Diana

I like to go to the cemetery too, Sheri. It's so peaceful and lovely there. I do like ME and still am mad her magazine went out of print. I love her art and have bits of it posted in my studio. Like the one you shared!

And I would have had to show the little black dress photos too. Two adorables in here -- what love you have!

Oh Sherri, I'm so glad that Nel will be moving back close to you! It's really hard when family lives such a distance. That is the cutest picture of Nel and Mia! How sweet that Jess dropped by with Francesca! I know you enjoyed that. Great geese closeups. Your photography is always lovely. I agree about finding JOY. It's everywhere, my friend! ♥

Mia is so very sweet, and what a beautiful shot of her and Nel! You must be thrilled they will be closer to you soon! Such a blessing!

I’m a bit of an ‘old’ cemetery gal myself. I find them so peaceful and interesting.

Lovely post, dear Sheri. Great photos. And those baby girls would fill any grandmother's heart to overflowing....little beauties. So happy about the move back to California, too. Having a little one makes all the difference in the world and makes some parents want to move back home. Yayyyyyy! Yes, Sheri, I have found joy in 2019. Today I found a brand new teapot in Marshall's that was half price because of a small part missing. I bought it and hubs fixed it immediately! Yippah. Also treated myself to a heart-covered cup for my morning coffee and some Valentine kitchen towels. Little joys count, right? Take care and stay warm and cozy inside during the rain. Hugs. Susan

Hi Sheri, what a nice post today. Birds bring me joy too, and I love those geese, as well as the roses at Mary's feet - more joy. Francesca is a little doll and must be a treasure for you too. I am happy for you that your girl is coming back to California - I miss my absent children too. Especially the one in Canada!! Your Mum's desk is really beautiful, and no wonder you can't part with it. I'd keep it forever :)

What a lovely January! I love the black dresses for New Year's eve. What a fun thing to do. The red roses at Mary's feet are just perfect for you to find. A little treat of the picture frame is lovely too. How special to have an impromptu visit with Francesca toss in for pure pleasure. Your roll top desk is lovely. I have my grandfather's roll top desk, but thinking of passing it along to my daughter. My grandson says he would like it, but I think it is because he knows I often have a stash of chocolate inside. Oh yes, what a sweet little copper tea kettle. Of course you know I would love it.

All such beautiful photos that you take Sheri! That grandbaby of yours is just the cutest little thing, how can you stand it? So squeezable and darling! So thankful to hear that your daughter and her family is moving back to Cali with you, I know that will be a blessing for you to have them there. Such a lovely piece of furniture to cherish that was your Mom's, what a treasure! Joy truly is a word that I love to live by... finding happiness in the little things, and being content and thankful for all I have, it just makes this world a better place to be in! Always enjoy a visit with you! Blessings and hugs :)

I really love it whenever you post pics of your grandchildren
they always look so happy and super adorable. Good to know ab out Nel's moving back. I love all the quotes in this post, so encouraging and very positive, just what we need to start the year. I love buying calendars and journals like yours, sometimes I buy it just because they are pretty without any intention of using them till the yearend :) Have a wonderful and blessed 2019 ♥

Hi Sheri! Your January is full of things to be joyful for. I have to say the little black dress on your granddaughter is adorable. I would have posted it too. :) I haven't bought a calendar for this year yet, I have my planner, but no monthly wall calendar. I keep telling myself I will make one with my pictures through Snapfish, but I haven't yet. My 2018 calendar is still on the wall. My husband was looking through it yesterday to see if it had January 2019 in it as a bonus, no such luck. I should make it today... I love your teapot. I hope you find more things to be joyful for today, and all year long. Michelle

Hello Sheri! I'm a new visitor...here from your comment link at Tanza's blog ... it's nice meeting you. I see we have some mutual blogger kinship.

I fell in LOVE with your adorable grandchildren! That New Year's photo is priceless. (My youngest grandson is 22!...where does the time go?) And your Canada geese photos...I am an avid birder, so these were a special treat for me. Rain? Did you say rain? Here in the coastal bend of Texas too. Too MUCH rain.

Such a beautiful and 'joyful' post, dear Sheri! Isn't it hard not to post those adorable grand-baby's photos on every post.....I just love seeing those sweet little faces. When you said that your Mother's desk was the only piece of furniture you had from her, it tugged at my heartstrings because that was the only piece of furniture I got from my Mom, too. She had a whole houseful, but she had a lot of daughter's and grandchildren. When we were carrying it out of the house, one of the drawers slid out and behind it was her wedding band. It was like a little gift from heaven......Glad that your new year is starting out so filled with things that make you happy - especially the news that your daughter is moving back home! Sending hugs xo Karen

Dearest Sheri, thank you for your visits today on my blog and email...how wonderful to have friends like you. And YES! Roses, they can take quite the chill. I love what you said about them. They are tough, but delicate. This is the juxtaposition I just love in life. Soft on the outside but on the inside? Tough as can be. Much love to you!

Oh my goodness, what a precious, meaningful post! The pics of Nel and Jess on New Years is so cute! What a doll! I love that they send you pictures every week. That is so sweet and thoughtful. You are so smart to be careful and only share a few.

We've had a mix of rain, sleet, ice, and snow. It's kind of messy out there and bitterly cold. I hope your weather is better.

I like your new frame at your Mother's desk; it's so You! And, I'm glad your visit to the cemetery was peaceful.

God bless you, Net

Oh Sheri looks like your New Year came in so nicely. You read my blog so you know mine started off really rocky and not so good. Still adjusting. Love that you go and see your mom. My mom and dad is just down the road between my home and moms but I have yet to be able to go back since the funeral. I am hurting really bad and just trying to get through. Loving that your daughter and Mia dressed to bring in the New Year...that is so ADORABLE. And wow on them coming back home. I like Georgia myself but I am fond of my Tn home, my Tn space. Now that mom is gone Cory would love nothing more than me come to Calif but at this point I have no clues what I will do. And with taking on her three dogs I am not sure when and if there will be any more visits out to see him. Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog.
