When I was growing up, there was a big plum tree in the neighborhood, and me and my friends would hide in one of the bushes, and when no one was out in the yard, we would pick the plums that had fallen to the ground and eat and enjoy. It was an ornamental tree so the fruit was edible, but the quality was not the best. The owner of the house used to get angry when the kids would do this. A couple times we saw them looking out the window as we scurried away. I was never scolded or got in trouble though, as the house belonged to my uncle, my dad's brother. ; ) Kids will sometimes be mischievous during the hot summer days. I'm very close to my aunt and uncle, who are still living in that same house today. They are in their 90's, and although the plum tree has been cut down since then, I will always remember the silly childhood fun all of us had in the neighborhood.
*I don't think this is a plum tree,
but it sure looks like the one in the front yard of my uncle's house.

Love.
Sheri, I love this memory from your childhood. We used to eat green apples from the neighbor's tree...it was our big brother who would go get them. Those old neighbor's later in life went into a nursing home and when the lady (Mary) passed her sweet husband(Henry) passed the next day. I always thought that was true love, when one did not want to live another day without the other. They were aged when we moved next to them. Yes, Charles got into trouble for picking the apples...mom never wanted us kids to trespass. I think he got more spankings than any of us...all well deserved. LOL. Blessings, hope you are loving summertime. xoxo, love, Susie
Sheri, Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful family story. It brings back memories of my brothers and sisters playing in the summer months. Fun Times ♥Hugs, Jody
Hope this hot weather isn't getting you down, it sure is hot and humid. Yes, your post brought back many funny memories of summer fun.
Stay cool and have a wonderful weekend.

Sweet memory :)
What a fun memory, Sheri. I love seeing things that remind me of special childhood memories! It seems like more and more, my memory is sparked by something. I like being reminded of the old days, don't you?
Such a lovely memory you shared! I've been wanting plums since the Summer started! The plums I've seen in the store just don't look all that great. Maybe I'll find luck at the Farmers Market for some plums!
Love memories from the past. I feel very lucky to have a childhood memories, that we get to have. I don't think the young kids of today will as thrilled to sit under a tree and eat it's fruit. I remember wandering in they garden eating peas and green beans, straight from the bush.

Such a sweet memory ...
All the best Jan
Your memory of the plum tree is so familiar, Sheri. We had a lady that lived up the street from us that had a pear tree that we raided the fallen fruit. She wasn't too happy about it either, but she never told our parents. I had't thought about this in years. Thanks for the memory jogger! ♥
Such a fun memory...so glad you still have your aunt and uncle!
This is a wonderful memory of a special aunt and uncle.
Thank you for sharing your memories ... I enjoy them.

Aw, Sheri! Those are sweet memories and how wonderful that your Aunt and Uncle are still living there! There is nothing like a sun-ripened plum on a hot summer day, especially when it is free for the taking :) Love those sweet childhood days :) Sending hugs xo Karen
Awwwwwm Sheri. That was a sweet memory. Glad you got to eat those delicious plums. God bless your auntie and uncle. Boy, they are in their 90s? That is wonderful. Hugs. Susan
What a sweet childhood memory. WE used to have a plum tree here too, but it has since died. Therefore i will not dwell on it's demise but revel in your sweet story.
This is a nice childhood memory, I had the same one like that and it always makes me smile when I think about it. Such a refreshing post Sheri, have a fun weekend ahead! Cheers!!! Mercy

Hi Sheri! It's always so nice to reminisce from time to time as it reminds you of how great life is. :)
anyway, in reply to your message on my bday post:
Thank you! And I'm glad that I reminded you of trusting the Lord. You don't know how much that means to me <3 And yes, sometimes people around us affect us in a way that make us struggle so deeply that sometimes break our self-esteem but there are also those people who help us and support us so it's better if you let those kind of people be around you =) Thank you so much again new blogger friend! <3

What a sweet memory Sheri... I use to sit under the umbrella of our apricot tree as a child and eat as many as I could. I would stack the seeds in an attempt to build a house.
Thank you for sharing your memories.
blessings,
Penny
