Expressions Of Kindness

Lately, the cars in front of me at the Starbucks drive through that I go to have been treating me to my coffee and pastry.  The last one was just recently, and I noticed that the license plate was from Georgia.  Thanks, Georgia!  I'd love to visit you someday.

The other day while driving through, the lady said to me, "you want your usual, café Americano and  a pumpkin loaf?"  I said, "Yes," and thought to myself, how nice of her to remember.

I received a surprise in the mail from my blog friend, Susan, on Tuesday.  It was a note card with a red rose on the cover and a few humorous and special words written from her to me.

An old woman sat in the pew at church right next to me.  She said that another lady had asked for her seat because she had a stroller and needed an end seat.  We talked for a bit and told me she'd say a prayer for me.

These expressions of kindness remind me of graceful people who shine their light in a sometimes troubling world.  They bring us a few smiles and a little laughter to brighten our days.

The planet does not need more
successful people.
The planet desperately needs
more peacemakers,
healers,
restorers,
story tellers,
and lovers of all kinds.
~Dalai Lama

Maybe we can express kindness
towards someone today.

Sheri, Ted and I will be out in the stores today. I will call the clerks honey or by their name if I see a name tag...I think it's something so small but it cane help make someone feel the customer cares about them. I always thank them. It is so nice to get an unexpected kindness isn't it? Blessings to you, love you, Susie

So nice to hear of kindness being shared , it's not very often the French do things like you have just experienced. At the supermarkets they are worse., the customers will push in their trolley to get to the check out before you, even if they can see you only have a few items in your basket. Then to top it the cashier on the till will never, and I mean never help you pack your bag, even if they can see you're struggling. Maybe they should shop where you get your coffee and pick up a few tips.

Sheri,
What I've discovered about random acts of kindness is that when one is received it gets passed on like waves of kindness in a sea of love. The Dali Lama quote was a perfect choice for your lovely post. I always enjoy visiting your heartfelt posts.

Awwwww, Sheri. That was a sweetheart of a post. Thanks for mentioning the rose card. You deserve a humongous bouquet of red roses but, alas, that would cost me a fortune from Massachusetts. ha haha You know what? There really are lovely people in the world, and you are one of them! Hugs. Susan

When I first saw this quote a few weeks ago, I felt validated. In this RAT RACE of a world, I often feel out of place because I am a poet, an artist, a romantic and yes, KIND. But the world isn't interested in that...unfortunately. But who IS interested in this is GOD, our creator and thank you dear Sheri, for reminding me. LOVE!

Sheri, I agree. You know, it takes such little effort to smile at a stranger or to hold a door open for someone or say good morning to people you see. This was a great post.

Mmmm, Pumpkin Loaf sounds so nice. I love the idea of gifting back to the next person. I remember Oprah talking about that many years ago. Let us hope kindness spreads over the world - too many sad things happening these days. Happy week Sheri. xx

Kindness...so effortless, isn't it? Top of the list for me. The simplest act of kindness is like a ray of sunshine. Even something as simple as a blog comment seems to me like a little spec of light.
I'm so thankful for you, Huckleberry friend. Thank you for stopping by with your kind words. I'd gladly pay your Starbucks too. :)

I agree with you. Kindness is so important. That is one thing I dislike about American politics, it seems to be all hate.
Have a blessed weekend,

You got such appropriate pictures to illustrate your post, Sheri. I'm sure that you draw kindness to you because you radiate kindness yourself. A post like this helps it to spread.

I am a firm believer in bringing a little kindness to my part of the world, and the people who surround me, and hope others do to. Kindness costs nothing but the rewards can be enormous.

Have a lovely weekend

All the best Jan

Oh Sheri, this is so very true and a beautiful post to share this thought of what we really need in our world.
We will never remember the material things in life as much as the way kind folks make us feel.
Thank you for sharing and the beautiful photos.
Blessings to you dear one!! xo

The other day I watched in youtube that Ellen DeGeneres received an Award. A Kindness Award. I loved when in her speech she said something
like this "it's a little strange to actually get an award for being nice and generous and kind" but she proceeded to say it was "so deserved" ahahahahah
And the kindness surrounding you - in the form of a card from a distant friend or that lady next to you in church - is so so well deserved. You're one of the Kindest Persons so I guess Universe is watching and getting it back to you.
A lovely thought for the day:

"Deep down we all love one another, and we need to get back to that." — Ellen DeGeneres

Love,
Teresa

Sometimes we all forget how much goodness there is in the world.
It circles all around us and you- with your sweet and sunny nature attract all of that goodness, kindness and tenderness.
Thank you for sharing this goodness with us.
