Getting Back To Red

When we downsized and moved into our new home a year ago, I knew that some of the rooms in the house would be small, but to my surprise, the kitchen was BIG!  It suited me because I've always loved large kitchens.  I've been seeing a lot of red in kitchens lately, and it made me long for my old one, so I added bits of red and white in my kitchen, and here's a few pictures to show you.

Dinner time.....do you know that spaghetti is one of my favorite dishes?  I don't know how bloggers take pictures of their yummy dishes after they prepare them.  I just want to dig in after I make it.  (that's why you don't see pictures of food that often on here).  ; )

I think I'll always like a bit of red in the kitchen.  I may change it again in the spring, but for now, I'll stick to what I love.

Jess moved into a charming townhouse, so she will be making the Thanksgiving dinner at her house in a couple weeks.  Are you ready, Jess?  Of course, I'll help her with a few side dishes, but her and fiancĂ© will be doing most of it themselves.  All I can say is........."start cooking, Jess!"

Hi Sheri, I love the white pitchers !! I like your spots of red. You could do red all winter long, especially at Christmas. We are doing Thanksgiving at my oldest daughters and Christmas at one of the twin's homes. (Liz's)...be cause come Christmas she will have two grandkids. We are all so excited about that. I will be thinking of jess cooking now. I love spaghetti...now I do one pan or baked spaghetti. . Blessings, love, Susie

Red in kitchens is such a classic that I'm sure it will always be popular. Red is a favorite of mine. I've had a red and white living room for years now and it makes me happy still. After bringing some orange pumpkins into my kitchen for fall, I've fallen in love with orange all over again and am already thinking about what I can do to keep some orange there after Thanksgiving. Maybe a bowl of tangerines?

Sheri, I realized once that I had shown spaghetti for supper twice on my blogs so haven't again, but oh the many times we have that for supper! I've noticed that we sleep better on nights when we've had pasta, always a good reason to have it, don't you think?

It's kind of exciting to be passing the torch to your daughters for Thanksgiving, Sheri! I haven't hosted it in several years but this year our youngest son and his family--including 2 little granddaughters--are coming home for Thanksgiving for the first time in 9 years so I'll be cooking and asking for lots of help doing it.

Love to you, sweet Sheri,
Dewena

Sheri your pops of Red add warmth and a vibrancy to your kitchen. I love your sweet bird plate and the White pitcher. When we updated our kitchen this past Spring I realized pops of Orange were fun for us. Love your baby boos on the window sill and in my mind's eye I see faux Red apples for Christmas. Your pies have made me hungry! YUM!
I look forward to your post on your Thanksgiving dinner at your daughters new townhouse. i feel the happiness and energy of the day already.
Me too with a weakness and lifelong love affair with pasta. I smiled about your comment about posting photos of food. On one of my posts I invited viewers into my kitchen reveal and made a Tuscan meal. OMGosh was that time consuming to take photos while the food was still warm and to get the lighting just right to spotlight the plate and the food to look tasty,

Vera

Red is such a great accent color in a kitchen … especially with the upcoming holidays including Valentines day. Your pictures look great, and pasta, well, what can I say… we eat lots of it around here, in all shapes and done with lots of different sauces. How fun to have Thanksgiving in Jess' new town home.
Have a wonderful day Sheri…
XOXO Mary

Hello Sheri. Loved having a look at your kitchen , how fabulous and how tidy it is. I dare not show mine, I love cooking, but Mr France tells everyone , I'm so messy, and I can't deny it, he's right. Keep with the red touches, I like it. Isn't it great when a celebration is hosted by one of your children. For me, family celebrations are always the best, the most important, is just all being together. Enjoy your thanks giving.

You know how I love my red Christmas, and a white too.
Your little teapot is so cheerful, just waiting to make you some warm brew. The little birdie plate is perfect and makes me happy because I love cardinals so much.
Wishing you a lovely day,

Hi Sheri :)

The touches of red are very cheerful!

Good luck to Jess. I remember how nerve wracking it was to make my first Thanksgiving dinner. One word of advice for her... don't defrost the turkey in the cold oven with the plastic on, but if you do, make sure to check the oven before you preheat it. Not that I would know anything about that ;)

LOVE the bits and pieces of red in your house, Sheri. I always think of red as being a "happy" color. I had it in the houses we lived in on Lake MI a few years ago and loved it. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your girls!!! xo Diana

Good morning dearest Sheri! Your kitchen is GORGEOUS! I think that is any room in the house should be large, I think these days, it should be the kitchen. Yours is light and open and that's what is necessary for these times of rushing, quick family gatherings. I also am learning the art of adding pops of color to my muted gray and white environment that I love and it feels so good. Love your red! How are you dear one?

I think it is always nice to add a splash of colour, and if you have a neutral template it is so much easier to do this. Red at this time of year is just perfect and I do like all your touches Sheri ... well done.

Hope your week is going well - the days seem to rush by so quickly!

All the best Jan

If you're going to have a large room, it should be your kitchen, and yours is lovely! Red is classic, always has been and always will be, and because red is a stimulant it's a great choice for kitchens. Or maybe not ;).

I had to smile about the photos of food. There are so many times I make something and think 'this looks pretty darn good, maybe I should take a picture?' By the time I get the camera, stage it, etc., it's cold and I'm way too hungry! Lol

Oh I love red in the kitchen. In my house the kitchen is the heart; kids for years did their homework in its big table while I cooked, everyone would hang around when they arrive home chatting and picking this and that.
And red add to the happy and vibrant feeling you want for such a place. I love your red spots. Happy but also so so elegant.
Looking forward to learn you had a glorious Thanksgiving and Jess!
Love,
Teresa

I love your kitchen, Sheri, and the sweet touches of red are wonderful! I especially love that little plate on the stand :) Of course, this means you will have to keep that beautiful white pitcher full of RED roses!!!! A good excuse to treat yourself <3 I love a little red in the kitchen, too - especially during the holiday season. My daughter's favorite dish is spaghetti - so we have it whenever she comes to visit. It's one of those dishes that is perfect for any occasion. Well, except maybe Thanksgiving! So nice of your daughter and fiance' to host this year. Just thinking about those pies makes me so hungry. Hope you have a lovely weekend, my Dear. Hugs xo Karen
