Piles

Meet my nemesis...

the random stack of junk mail and bills.

I have been spending some time organizing the house in order to make the approaching school year a little easier for me.

And this stack definitely needed some attention. It drives me crazy!

I spent the afternoon recycling and filing papers until...the pile was no more!

My plan is to control my stack of mail and documents so that it will fit (only) in this kitchen shutter "organizer."

How do you organize your mail and miscellaneous papers?

Congratulations!!! You are a Super Hero!!!!

Yes, piles are 'the pits'... No doubt about it. They mess with my peace of mind. :-0

Here, I allow NO piles, of incoming mail.

The just-junk mail, can go right into the all-recycling bin, before coming in the house. (We mostly use the "back door," which goes out to the garage/work shop, so the bin is right there!)

I grab bills and put them on calendar, and into a bill folder.

Appointment stuff, goes on calendar too.

If something comes for him, like concerning Rotary, etc., they go to their spot.

Yes, I am ruthless!!!!!! ,-)))))))))))))

"Down with piles" hugs,
Tessa

HA! How do I organize the junk mail? I put it immediately into the recycling. HA!

Now as school approaches, just get your mail, look it over quickly but carefully and do the same! It makes school a lot easier!

I love this idea...very cute! I am glad to say that we stopped getting the newspaper, most of the bills are online, subscribe to only one magazine and just really don't get a lot of mail...so my paper piles don't overwhelm me like they used to. BUT I have drawers in my home office that need to be purged and shredded big time!

You'll be battling this for years to come...I'm afraid! It's never ending. Taking care of some when it first comes to you helps. Love your pretty ways to organize! Hugs!

Jess, this is a great shutter organizer. You know, I just have my little desk which has slots for bills and a drawer for calender, but this organizer is cool. I'll have to look into getting one of these.

So glad I stopped by! Your blog is going great! I'm going to start again. Wish me luck.
I throw everything in a basket. Then pray I will get to it before it overflows! I do throw lots in the recycling bin. I also have a cool stamp that I use to block out my address. But I honestly have to say. I don't like spending time going through it. Pretty or not ;)

It's an never ending battle isn't it? I try to toss in the recycling but all those Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons get saved for a visit there and bills get paid and filed. Catalogues tossed after viewing and then within days I'm back to the same, kind of like toss and repeat, toss and repeat. Cute post amd you've organized beautifully!

Good for you! I love the shutter idea--very clever. I try to sort mail over the trash can or recyling bin as I receive it. If I do that, I can then take the bills to the office drawer and invites, etc go in a file we have for them. Lovely meeting you and your mom. ♥

Congrats on eliminating some of the clutter, Jess. I am horrible at it. Horrible. I put things into boxes, close them and forget them. Then, when it's time to go through the boxes to eliminate, it's easier. Ha ha Good luck. Susan

Wonderfully well done. Your shutter organiser is the best - I have never seen one but I'd love it. This week I did the same thing - I know, twins - and also found when I got rid of the excess and found homes for many things, suddenly there was only a little bit left. Long may the decluttering continue:)

Hi Jess,
You are really organized! Great idea. My junk mail goes from the mail box to the trash.. Bills are kept in one place.. Clutter drives me absolutely nuts, so I try my best to avoid it.
Have a great day.
blessings,
Penny

What a creative shutter re-use, I love it. I usually sort right then and there when it comes in bills in a folder, junk mail in recycling, and coupons clipped on a clipboard. If the clip board is too thick , I need to go through and use coupons!

Bills on the fridge all other paperwork checked out then in the bin.

You're so funny.
You have to organize the adult stuff but first you play around with Tinkerbell postcard ahahahah
I'm very organised and don't let the "junk" mail and all lay on top or visible. My method is portfolios in a drawer which is allowed to run havoc for limited time before I swipe in and organize it further. But I always tend to cut what I need to save immediately after receiving it. You really don't need to keep this and that. There's everything in the internet so I don't keep brochures or propaganda of any kind. Postcards are most often than not turned into bookmarks... so it's basically invoices and they go into the secretary-in-me folders in that drawer. I REALLY like your way best but I know I would stress to see the stuff...
Have an amazing return to school, Lovely Girl!

Ugh Jess lol! Having worked from home and moved numerous times over the past few years I am also suffering from ... piles :-)

We have Luca staring school in two weeks, no doubt with more new paper work so I need to get organised!

Have you ever read the Marie Kondo book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up? It's on my Amazon wish-list! Keri xxx

Junk mail in the re-cycling bin!

Important mail top drawer.
Less important mail second drawer.
Then it gets dealt with as time allows and priority.

All the best Jan
