A Not So Fancy Dinner

Every week, I go out to dinner with my son so we can catch up with the happenings of the family and spend some time together.  Instead of going to a fancy restaurant, this time we just went to the park.  I picked up some burritos and drinks at our favorite place, and we sat and ate them at the park.

I noticed a trail around the park, so I told him to walk with me for awhile.

This park is in an older neighborhood.  It's one of my favorites, where houses are painted in mint green,

squirrels scatter about, and birds come right up to you.

On the way home, a song came on the radio, Red Red Wine by Bob Marley.  We listened to it, and I thought of my son, who is my best friend.  He's the coolest young man I know, and he's always there with a smile, giving me a laugh or two, and bringing me peace every day.

My dear Sheri, what a precious relationship you have with your son. You inspire me, my friend, because I have a son {who is still quite young}. Thank you for blessing my life.

Love and hugs to you!

Sheri,
You and I have both have one son and then you have two daughters and I have three. We are blessed with loving and strong relationships with all of them, aren't we? I am thankful you had this opportunity to spend such a lovely evening with him. This past weekend I was able to spend some extra time with my son too and it meant the world to me.
Have a beautiful day, Sheri,

This struck such a chord with me because as much as I love having the whole family together, I also adore time alone with each of them. Your park setting, and the menu, sounds better to me than the fanciest restaurant, and there was privacy for heart to heart talk and a way to walk off a few calories.

We have the one daughter and 3 sons. One son's birthday is this week and I won't get to see him on it. He will be having a wonderful time with his own dear little family and many friends, and I'll spend my day remembering his birth, his toddler cuteness, and the dear man he became--and missing him so much. Come fall, we'll get to go visit and I'm counting the days.

Your weekly meal with your son is such a gift, but then I know you know that.

What a wonderful way to spend time with your son, Sheri! I have two and it is so hard to find that 'one on one' time with them now that they are married and starting families. I know that you treasure these moments - your son sounds like a very thoughtful young man! Of course he is - he was raised by you!!! Hugs xo Karen

Good morning dear one.

I had internet problems early this morning, but I'm glad to be back on-line to see your post.

In this day of troubles, when we can find trust in those we love, that is the greatest comfort. Your son must be an exceptional young man, meeting his mother regularly. What a dream....
