It's Thanksgiving time, and I wanted to show you the gravy boat that belonged to my mom. She used it for every Thanksgiving, and now I do the same. It has been passed down since 1944, and belonged to her mother as well. I love that I have something that's 70 years old, and it has become part of our Thanksgiving table every year.
My gravy boat will always be in this family, and someday it will be given to one of my kids.
Gobble Gobble.
Happy Thanksgiving to you,
my dear friends.

Hello Sheri!
Such a pretty gravy boat and sweet Thanksgiving tradition. It was nice dancing the "turkey trot" with you and the birds this morning! I am not certain that the gobblers know whats ahead!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jess, Nel and the rest of your lovely family!

How wonderful to have a family heirloom to use each Thanksgiving. Something breakable wouldn't last 70 years in my family. :) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh what a treasure! I'd love the gravy bowl even without the sentiments. Much better that it has been passed on from generation to generation.
so tolle bilder, das porzellan ist wunderschön und die bunten vögel auch!!!!! danke für die tollen bilder und inspirationen!!! einen schönen dienstag wünscht angie aus deutschland
Love your gravy boat Sheri. What family history comes before and will come after with that sentimental piece. We have the turkeys trotting around here too. They seem to be running a bit scared this time of year. ;)
xx
First time in your blog and I read that you are a mother and 2 daughters the authors of this blog! It is so awesome! I wish I will still write with my daughters when they will be older! And this passing from generation to generation is so lovely!

Hi Sheri...Glad you have your Mom's gravy boat. Isn't it amazing that Thanksgiving is right around the corner? Hope yours is blessed. Susan
It could be hideous looking and I'd still go in AWE. But it isn't it's a very exquisite, beautiful and elegant piece.
Good Taste run in your lovely Family!
I also like to have things - one day I'll tell you why tables and knick-knacks were my family heritage, instead of money and other valuables - that I know are in my family since... ever.
You sit for Thanksgiving and their souls and lovely thoughts and feeling embrace you.
Is there a more sweet, respectful and loving way to be Thankful for those who "made" us?!
Love you,
Teresa
Surrounding ourselves with these mementos of past lives is a wonderful treasure! That gravy boat has seen many happy occasions I am certain!
Great post Sheri and thanks for sharing the memories,
That gravy boat makes me really excited for Thanksgiving dinner!! Yummy! :)
How special, dear friend, and this year it will be a part of your very first Thanksgiving in your new home. How special indeed.

Sheri, I love your lovely gravy boat. It has such a beautiful shape… and the fact that has been in the family makes it so special…
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
XOXO Mary
How wonderful...happy week.....love Ria...x!
Sheri, I love your pictures. That is a treasure, the gravy boat. I think of all the mixed/matched dishes my mother owned thru out the years. It sure did not matter to us kids when it came time to eat. LOL I gave my mother's meat platter to my granddaughter. She loves to cook, so I thought she would love something of her grandmother's. Bless her heart, she was so happy with it. Hope you are enjoying your wonderful weather. We are almost freezing , here in the Midwest. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
So nice that you have such a beautiful heirloom that will remain in your family.
It's nice to have bits that have been in the family for agers and you can hand down to your children so much gets lost along the way.
Merle............
Maybe your girls could share it alternating years when you pass it on. What a lovely tradition you have. happy Thanksgiving to you too.
How nice to have a gravy boat in your family for 70 years, and more in the future. The turkeys look tame.
Oh dear Sheri, I had the same gravy boat, but sold it when I first moved away to Massachusetts from California.....and those turkeys! We have a posse of turkeys here too that roam the neighborhoods! They best hide with Thanksgiving around the corner!
Enjoy the season my friend! Anita
What a marvelous gravy boat to use every year...filled with memories as well as gravy!
My mother had two pair of Santa salt and pepper shakers and I adore them. So cute. Use them every year!
Hi sweet Sheri! I am so thankful for you, dear friend :)
Your gravy boat is beautiful and I loved reading about the family history behind it.
Love to you!
Dearest Sheri,
Oh, your gravy boat is such a splendid heirloom and treasure, and I know just how you feel about these sentimental keepsakes. She is a beauty and I can tell handled with much love. Isn't it reassuring to know that these family keepsakes will continue on when we aren't able to.
I am so thankful to know you Sheri, and for the friendship you so richly give.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Love,
Jemma

Wow! To the history of this boat,so cool.
It is always nice to be celebrating something that has been a family tradition for as long as you remember and it becomes extra special with simple and lovely things that has been with the family for so long.
Regarding my latest post,
yes it is my latest post as of now
because I had eye strain and was advised to take a rest from my computer however I intend to make a new post after our family's road trip this coming weekend.

Happy thanks giving my dear friend. That gravy boat is so special, embedded with love and history passed down from generation to generation. I'm sure your lovely kids will treasure it.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, my daughter and I will be in NY during the thanksgiving. I'm excited to see what it is like in that big city during this celebration.
Have a good week dear
I have my grandmother's also! It has an old English cottage scene. I rarely use it but think of her every time it comes out. Happy Holidays to you!
