The Magic of Travel

Jess and I had a little international adventure last weekend, and we didn't even have to leave our sunny southern California area...

It's a celebration of Greece at Disneyland!

As two girls who just love our Greek heritage passed down to us from our mom, we had to join in all the magical fun! There was lively Greek dancing...

...and classical decor...

...even Mickey was all decked out in traditional fustanella attire!

Afterwards we treated ourselves to a decadent dessert at California Adventure's Golden Vine Winery.

Hopefully one day we will all visit beautiful Greece together...

...but until then we can enjoy the magic of travel at the happiest place on earth.

Where have YOU "traveled" to lately, friends?

I travel every single day to France, England, California, The Netherlands, ANYWHERE my blog friends live. Oh what a great time you must have had! I remember visiting Disneyland in Anaheim as a child. THANK YOU NEL! Anita

This is awesome, Nel!

And what a great idea from Disney; I'm sure many people did appreciate the playful atmosphere while being (re)connected with their ancestries and the pulls of their Culture.

How do you, and Jess, feel about your Cultural Heritage? Is there a pull or a kind of recognition? Or is it "just" something that was transmited by Sherri and you play along?

I'm asking this because I was raised on a different region from where I live. I was raised there until I was around 10. And though being on the same Country it is, was, an entire different "world": with different ways and culture. And now, as an adult, when I return there, I feel my all being recognising where I belong... there's even a different way of talking (accent) that I automatically assume as soon as I enter the boundaries and meet "my" people.

Thank you for sharing the cheerfulness and happy feelings of your outing.

Blessings,

Teresa

Beautiful even and photos! My sister lived in Greece for 7 years, she was the one who influenced me to fall in love with Greece and Greek food! I would have loved to attend this event myself!

Nel, I would join you in a heartbeat. LOVE everything about Greece. Our daughter dreams of traveling there when she marries. I have never visited but have worked with great folks from there and the food, well, no need for words. Okay, one word, YUMMO! ;)

What fun, Nel. We have Disney World-not Disney Land and the Epcot Center gives you a tour of different "worlds". Nobody does it like Disney! I bet you loved every moment of it! xo Diana

How fun is that? I had no idea Disneyland had these types of events! Love it! Today is my first day of vacation and the only place I've gone is The Land of Nod....just woke up from a nap. For now that's the only place I needed to go! Hope you all make to Greece.

Wow! Looks like you had an awesome day.
Greece was on our minds on Monday too. It was my dd's birthday and I made us all a lunch of roast lamb with tzatziki and a feta salad.
All washed down with a very English Pimm's ;-)
