Colored Stained Glass Windows

Yesterday, before my son worked out, he asked me if I wanted to go to the church with him first.  Sometimes me and my kids go to the church just to sit, think, and pray.  I've been to many different Catholic churches around the area and while traveling, and this one is my favorite.  I think all the stained glass windows make it so beautiful.

The old statues standing in every corner of the church makes it a peaceful place to be.  I thought the light shining on this picture was a lovely sign.

This is the church that I got married in, and Jess wants to get married here too.  I hope she gets her wish someday.  Outside the church are rows of pretty roses just waiting for me to appreciate them.

All the ceremonies in my life took place in this church.  I love my church....and this guy's pretty ok too.

Heritage Dolls

I saw these heritage dolls
many years ago,
and bought four of them
to represent my
heritage.

The Greek doll

The Spanish doll

The Polish doll
(she reminds me of Jess)

The French doll
(I'm French Canadian)

I'm very interested
in my heritage,
and want to become
familiar with its customs,
traditions, and
 way of life.

This is one of my
favorite pictures of Nel
displaying her heritage.

What is your heritage?
I'd really love to know.

Having Fun With Jewelry

I met my brother and childhood friend at Starbucks last week.  We had a nice visit talking about what's going on in each other's lives.  This friend of ours goes way back to when our mothers were friends, so it is always special to hook up with her.

After awhile, she showed me some of the latest jewelry that she sells from the company she works for.  I really like this jewelry because it's good quality and not too expensive.  This is part of the set that I bought for Jess.  I can't show you the other half because it's a surprise for her.

For the turquoise lover.

I thought these pearls were very....

Mulberry and fuchsia are really in right now, and this is one of their radiant pieces.

I want to buy this for Nel for the holidays.  It's so her.

I am really into
bracelets and rings
lately.
Do you like
to wear jewelry?

Farewell Summer

Summer is coming
to an end,
and here are a few
pictures that me and
Jess took while
strolling through town.

My kids used to
play on this
bridge when they
were little.

This is one mermaid
that makes me
happy.

Doesn't this tree
trunk look like an
animal's face?

Enjoy the last
of your summer days.

August Art

Welcome to my new favorite museum, the Getty Villa.

Located in beautiful Malibu California, the Getty Villa offers stunning views...

"Summer is a great time to visit art museums, which offer the refreshing rinse of swimming pools--only instead of cool water, you immerse yourself in art."
~ Jerry Saltz ~

lush gardens...

and classical Greco-Roman art.

I visited the Getty Villa for the first time with my students this past week, and quickly fell in love.

Maybe it was the olive trees, which reminded me of a beautiful home my parents used to live in...

or the unique touch of elegance around every corner...

"In character, in manner, in style, in all things,
the supreme elegance is simplicity."
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ~

whatever the source of the magic, the Getty Villa took my love of art to new heights.
