La Vie en Rose en Paris

And just like that, our honeymoon in Paris was at an end.

My husband and I spent our last day strolling hand-in-hand down the Champs-Élysées, savoring the beauty and the charm of a city we had come to love. More than once we remarked to one another that truly la vie en Paris is la vie en rose.

Hold me close and hold me fast,
the magic spell you cast--
this is la vie en rose.

When you kiss me, heaven sighs,
and though I close my eyes,
I see la vie en rose.

When you press me to your heart,
I'm in a world apart,
a world where roses bloom.

And when you speak, angels sing from above.
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs.

Give your heart and soul to me,
and life will always be
la vie en rose.

La Vie en Rose lyrics by Louis Armstrong

Thank you, friends, for sharing this magical week in Paris with my husband and I.

I hope you enjoyed the romance,

the city sights,

and the enchanting art

that makes for the rosy life in Paris.

Until next time--adieu, la Paris de mes rêves.

Backward,
turn backward,
O time in
your flight,
Make me a
child again
just for
tonight!
Mother, come
back from the
echoless shore,
Take me again
to your heart
as of yore.

A Surprise Package

I got a package in the mail the other day.  It was from a special blog friend, Kim, at Imagery by Kimberly.  She was having a giveaway, and I was so surprised when I won the gift, which is a framed picture of cute little ducklings.

Many of you know Kim from her former blog, Dear Daisy Cottage.  This blog was the main inspiration for me and the girls to start a blog of our own.

Along with the package, came two lovely cards, which were photos she took herself.

I am grateful to have this framed pictured by a very special person.  Kim sends goodness in everything she writes and every picture she takes.  Every time I look at these sweet ducklings, I will think of her.  She is our sunbeam in life, and we want her to know how much we appreciate that.

The Art of Living

Welcome back, dear friends! I hope you all had a blessed Easter weekend with the ones you love.

This is the third in our four-part Paris series, and I can't think of a better way to start the new week than with a tour through the Louvre.

This medieval fortress turned Neo-baroque palace is now home to some of the world's finest treasures.

Let's start in the Denon wing so we can beat the crowds to one of the museum's most heavily visited attractions--Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Snap a quick picture while she smiles for the camera!

Now we're ready to stroll through the sprawling galleries of classical French and Spanish paintings,

and hear the stories told by ancient Greek and Roman sculptures.

As we head over to the Near Eastern Antiques in the Richelieu wing, let's pause to take in the exquisite interior designs.

We'll admire the craftsmanship of the ancient Mesopotamians,

and turn the corner to discover the code of Hammurabi.

Entering the atrium we'll witness ancient dramas unfold,

and in the Sully wing we'll marvel at the mysteries of antiquity.

The treasures we'll discover

will make our hearts dance,

and remind us to celebrate the art of living every chance we get.

Thank you for joining me on this tour of the Louvre! I'll see you next week for the forth and final look into "la vie en rose" in Paris!

Sights of the City

Oh, the grandness...

the charm...

the creativity...

 of this enchanting City!

Husband and I encountered breathtaking beauty around every turn as we explored Paris on our honeymoon.

The majesty of the Notre Dame is unparalleled.

The Arc de Triumph rises into the blue sky as a powerful symbol of French liberty.

Climbing the hundreds of steps that lead the way to the Sacre Coeur Basilica, the tired traveler is invigorated by a divine sight.

Constructed during the 11th century, the adjacent église Saint-Pierre de Montmartre is the oldest church in Paris.

The treasures of Les Invalides include medieval French armor,

exquisite interior spaces,

and Napoleon's monumental tomb.

Whether world-renowned,

or privately discovered,

these city sights will live happily in our memories until my husband and I have the good fortune to return to sweet Paris again.

Thank you for joining me for this second tour in our honeymoon series. I can't wait to meet you again next week in the Louvre where we'll enjoy "The Art of Living"!

Bisous!
