The Waterfalls In Winter

Well, I finally managed to see the majestic waterfalls in the snowy season.  I've seen them in all the other seasons, but never in winter, due to the obvious reasons.....snow and ice, tricky road conditions getting there, and more.  We had a big snow recently, and the last day when the sun was coming out, the area was sparkling, so I thought it was time to see the falls once again.  For those of you who didn't see my last posts, these waterfalls are on California's list of beautiful places to see.  It is a mesmerizing waterfall, and can you believe they are on the outskirts of my town, about 10-15 minutes away?  My son came along with me, and when we got there, everything was covered in snow.  I thought the waters might be frozen, but it was still flowing, and there was snow on the upper part of the falls in the landscaped area.  When you first start out, the stairways were covered in snow, and the trails were icy, so you had to be careful walking down.  The boulders were so pretty all covered in white.  The moss trees that are so apparent in summer, were replaced with clumps of snow.  There was a little cabin near the general store, and all the picnic benches were covered.  I talked with a couple who traveled an hour to see them.  There will be lots of pictures on here today, so come along and see the waterfalls that are so pretty in the heart of winter.

When I got home and since it was Friday, I picked up some fish and chips at the local eatery on main street.  They never disappoint.  It was such a wonderful day.

Look who else is enjoying a snow day!  Nel lives only about 20 minutes from the snow line.

So, now that I've seen the waterfalls in every season, my son asked me which was my favorite.  The falls in Autumn are brilliant with the orangish colors in the landscape, during spring and summer you will find it green and tropical looking, but the winter season there is magical, and I would have to say that would be my favorite season to visit.

The waterfalls in the winter landscape are very beautiful. The water, the snow... a winter wonderland. The cabin also looks lovely in winter with all the snow around it.
And I love the snowman that Nel photographed.

Wishing you a fabulous March!

You finally made it. The last time we went in winter was a Christmas day we drove up and the steps down to the Falls were ice. Looks like you took the trail up and behind the falls to see them from a different vantage point. Just beautiful, Sheri. Our county is so blessed with beauty, year round. Enjoy this first week of March! I know I will. 🌹

Thank you for the beautiful snow pictures. I can't believe I actually miss the snow; we didn't get any this winter. I know I should be jumping up and down in delight but somehow, I ended up feeling a little left out. There is something just mesmerizing about a waterfall, and you have a gorgeous one.

This is a powerful looking falls, and you got so many wonderful photos! I love the look of the curved stairs in the snow, kind of artistic. And the photo at the very top of the falls, where it is flat. that's a very good snowman, perfectly proportional. Did Nel make him?

Oh my !!! these pictures are stunning. I love them all and the clumps of snow on the bench and pristine snow is breathtaking.
Is this Burney? The falls sort of look like it.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Hello Friend,
Oh, I agree, winter waterfalls are magic. You did a great job capturing the beauty of the falls with your camera Sheri. You captured the water color so well, I just love blue of the river.
Well done my dear friend!

I lost my comment! lol
I was saying it was a surprise to see waterfalls I was expecting something else - but this did not disappoint. I wish I could see them in person and feel the breeze send me the mist off them.
What is the cabin for - was it used for something? On the 9th photo down, I thought I saw a white bird on the tree, and it was snow! Gosh that area is gorgeous. Love the snowman too. Those fish and chips looked good too!

The falls and surrounding area are just plain gorgeous! The walk looks a little slippery though; but still I would have to see them in every season too. Oh to picnic there in nice weather. Now that would be fun. The fish and chips look delicious!

It really is so pretty this time of year! It also looked very peaceful with all the snow-covered trees and landscape. Beautiful photos! So nice that you live so close to be able to visit in every season. The little cabin is so sweet. What a beautiful place to live so long ago. Fish-n-chips is a perfect meal for a chilly day, too.
Looks like your little grand-girl had some fun, too. Love the snowman :) We didn't have any snow this year. I think it is a first.
Sending hugs x K

What a fantastic day! And what an intrepid walk you had! I'll bet you were holding onto that railing. But every step would be worth it once you reached the top and the perfect view of those falls. I can see why they are a favorite thing for California to promote as a "must see" and I'm so glad you and your son could enjoy them together. (Cute Mia too!)

Ah Sheri - the waterfalls are gorgeous. It did look like it had to be challenging to get where you were going to see them. Every photo is breathtaking and to think they are only about 10-15 minutes away. When the weather is nice do you go there to sit and enjoy them. Maybe because of their beauty and popularity it gets rather crowded. Well thank you sweet friend for sharing this beautiful creation of God. Hugs!

Very beautiful waterfalls and great photos, I would love to see them in person, but I'm a little too far away.
And the white snowman is also beautiful.
