The Princess Lives On

Are you enjoying the first days of March?  It's always been a very long month for me, so I take it one day at a time.

Mia sent me a little card, and inside the card was a drawing of grandma, and along with it came some of her own words that I will keep forever. 💌

March is my best friend's birthday month, so that's always nice, and I will see her and others soon when I visit my hometown.

We had sunny days all last week, but I don't count my chickens before they hatch, as winter is not quite over here, and we may get more rain and snow.  We got hail last week, and it's so interesting to hear hail and see it come down on your front porch.

I have been hearing the coooing of the doves in my neighborhood, which is one of my favorite sounds.   But along with them, comes the woodpecker, who is already pecking away at my house.  A beauty of a bird, but one of the most annoying ones living in the mountains. *acorn woodpecker

My son made a roasted chicken - it's a French dish called Poulet Franchard.  Oh my, was it delicious.  I had it over the course of three days.  Ingredients:  whole chicken, chicken stock, mushrooms, lemon, parsley, tarragon, garlic, carrots.

I went to the Chinese Restaurant with my brother-in-law, and had a good time.  I usually get take-out, but it was nice to go inside this time and have a bowl of soup before the meal, and just sit and talk and listen to stories.  I ordered the combination lunch plate - kung pow chicken, chow mein, fried rice, egg roll, crab & cream cheese won ton, soup, and pepsi. 🍚

Even though it's still winter, I saw these beautiful looking strawberries at the grocery store that I had to bring home.  California grows some of the best fruits and veggies.

I went into town to do some shopping, and had a nice chat with P. for a while.  I have met about four ladies since I moved here whom I can call friends.  These are like-minded women with perseverance, who have shared their stories with me from time to time.  While in town, I bought a few things.  Isn't this the cutest bunny for Charlotte?  My family loves the color mint.

Best breakfast burrito ever.  I asked for a veggie burrito, no meat, maybe with some bell peppers and onions.  He always makes special ones for me. 😊

For my new blog friends, you may or may not know that I used to love Princess Diana.  I used to follow her life, her fashion, and her charity work back in the day.  Nel and Jess were born around the same time as her sons, so I also had that in common with her.  I used to look at magazines of her fashion choices, and she was always so elegant and put together.  I loved her.  So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when Jess told me that Francesca was doing a biography report in school.

I am pleased to see that the children take an interest in her too, and that the Princess lives on in the hearts of many. 👑👒👠👑👒

My blog friend sent me a card in the mail, just because.  We have known each other for 10 years, and she wrote some very special words inside the card.  Thank you, Carla.  I appreciate your friendship too.  Carla is a salt of the earth woman, and whose blog, The River, I've enjoyed reading for many years.

A wonderful March week to you.

I do count you as my new friend, there was something magical about Princess Diana, she was a true Princess.
Now I want some Chinese food, wonder where that thought came from?

Carla is such a wonderful person! The chicken looks so good. I have not heard of this kind of woodpecker. We had one who would come every morning in the fall and peck on our bedroom window.

Sheri, this is such a delightful post today. The love of Life just oozes from it.
Love your little "Love Letter" from Mia. Those are always so special.
Ummm, yumm, those strawberries look delish. I think I need some of those too.
Have a great week.
hugs
Sue

Thank you for the sweet words my dear friend.
We have been friends, side by side, watching our kids grow up, move from one state to the next, have children and more.
You have helped me stay strong in my faith, when I feel weak. You make me smile when I am sad. Your blog posts uplift my heart when it is heavy.

Beautiful bird, I read somewhere that the holes they drill in trees are also used as nesting sites for other birds that cannot drill holes large enough for their own nests.

Hello! I am coming by from Billie Jo's blog. Oh, what a beautiful post. I loved Princess Diana. I love still following all the royals. Well, most of them. :) How neat she is doing a report on her!!!
I am looking forward to looking around your blog. Blessings.
Oh, and how sweet to get a card from a blogging friend. The blog world is such a blessing.

Hi Sheri! I love meals that last for three eats. That's wonderful. Birds in the morning are one my most fave things to hear. But like you, we'll get more snow still. It will be heat on, heat off, windows open, windows shut. I don't mind though. Very nice day today. Soooo pretty out. Wishing you a wonderful week. Happy Birthday to your best friend.

Your photos are wonderful, Sheri. The food photos make me hungry. Oh, that burrito looked so yummy. I loved that Francesca is doing a project about Princess Diane. Great post, dear Sheri. Hugs. Susan

Wow so much to say. March is a long month probably because it follows such a short one.
I love the meme where she is sitting outside having a cup of coffee. I wish I had a place like that - I have a porch, but it is out in the sun.
That card Mia made you was precious.
We had woodpeckers at our house - and the noise would drive me nuts! I love the color mint - would you say aqua? My favorite color. Strawberries looked yummy. Still no pecan pies here.
I always looked at the articles about Princess Diana. She was beautiful yet so sad. They sure didn't treat her right. I think the new princess would make her proud!

Hey Sheri! Thanks for your great comment about redecluttering. I did this back in 2016 when I got rid of 90 percent of my stuff. It was LOVELY. So a decade later, I'm doing a re-declutter and doing it the same way as I always do. By category. It is sooo nice. Get a category done, do a little boogie dance and then onto the next category. Wishing you lots of fun in your decluttering as well. Just so nice to do this. Cheers, Ivy.

Sheri, how I loved this post! I understand the "don't get excited about spring" as we have the same "springter" weather here. You just never know, one day it might be snow, the next thundershowers! Always so fun to do a little shopping, and glad to hear you've made some friends! I love Carla, she is such a dear friend of mine too. Praying hard for her boys and all our dear loved ones in harm's way. Princess Diana - oh yes. I was definitely her follower. In fact, she and Prince Charles came to my island and I was hoping to shake her hand. They walked down the area where we waited, and sadly, she shook hands on the other side. However, Prince Charles did shake my hand. It's my one "claim to fame" lol! She was a good woman caught up in a difficult web of deceit, so sad. Many March blessings to you dear friend!

A good friend is a big library where you can read your memories and find unimaginable new words which will support you to walk into the unknown future.

I get what you are saying about March. Luckily ours has been warmer than usual so it feels more like April than March. The cooing of doves is so peaceful and relaxing, never get tired of hearing them.

What a wonderful time you have had, Sheri. Good times with friends, with your son and brother-in-law -- you can't beat that. (Your son's cooking -- I always swoon!). We were in the 60s yesterday but snow predicted for the weekend. I hope they are wrong. I, too, followed Diana and was lucky to see several exhibitions of her life and her wonderful gowns. There are many books about her in my royal library, too. It looks like your world is splendid these days!
