It was just an ordinary March week last week, and sometimes those are the most comforting and pleasurable ones. It's getting warmer, and it's starting to feel like spring is on its way with all the sunny days we've been having. No flowers sprouting up yet, but the deer have been coming around frequently, and I am always so amazed when they do. There were a few on my back porch area, and I could almost touch them as I looked out my window. Then, they walked over to my front yard, and I was surprised to see this family of four just resting on my lawn, unafraid, and being the gentle creatures that they are.
We have what are called "controlled burns" up here in the mountains. They take place on scheduled days of the month, and are low-intensity planned fires to manage land and dead brush. They improve wildlife habitats, and manage agricultural land. I don't really like when they have these controlled burns, as smoke fills the air in the neighborhood, and I never step outside when they are going on. But if they help protect the community by clearing away materials, that's a good thing.
I will see the girls soon, and I have been gathering things that belong to them that I've had for years, like certificates, school documents, and more. I found these cute pink bags to put their things in. I am slowly, but surely, giving their stuff to them, along with anything I think they would like, so they aren't overwhelmed when the time comes for them to go through my things one day. ; )
My brother-in-law came for a visit, and I made him a pizza. It was just a store bought pizza, but oh, so good. We talked about many things, and then, politic-related conversation came up. 😮 I don't like to talk politics because almost every time someone disagrees on something. But he voiced his views, and I voiced mine, and we went on talking about other things. We both, however, agreed on the importance of humanity in the world.
I have been enjoying the candle Jess gave me, and I love to light candles all through the house. I also ordered some white lights for the mantel because I like seeing them not only for the holidays, but all year long. They should come next week.
I absolutely love these school projects that the kids are working on. Mia recently did a project about Betsy Ross. Here is the doll she made, along with the second page of her report.
I had a lot of fun decorating my new hutch for Easter, and I will show you soon.
I'll leave you with this....
Have a beautiful week. Don't forget to wear the green! 🍀

Lovely and adorable doll, so sweet.
Deer are beautiful creatures. On the Internet, I’ve seen videos of literally herds of deers at people’s houses after the owners fed one or two deer. Same with foxes.

Sheri,
What a lovely read. I enjoyed my visit so much. I can't wait to see your hutch. I love the idea of having bags to put items you come across to give back to the adult kids. I need to do that. Great idea. I love the Betsy Ross doll, how absolutely talented.
Have a super week.
Sheri, I look forward to your posts, just like a visit over the backyard fence. Mia's project is super; I love history and passing it on our kids. The deer have found a safe place to hang out!.
Wow, I'm so impressed with Mia's Betsy Ross figure. Very clever . It was a terrific report too.
Love the quote and I think it is right on..
I'm looking forward to seeing your hutch and its Easter finery.
Love the idea of the bags for the "treasures"
The controlled burns are good for reclamation of the land but I agree on the smoke and its getting into the air.
Enjoy your time with the girls and have a great week.

Love Mia's darling Betsy Ross doll and a lovely report too. I actually saw the house where she sowed the Stars and Stripes in Philadelphia several years ago. Wonderful photos of the deer, such beautiful animals. The smoke from the burn must have been very uncomfortable. That's a great gift you are putting together for your girls. It's so nice that your brother-in-law visited. I liked this sentence, "We both, however, agreed on the importance of humanity in the world." I agree 100 percent with that. What's going on makes me very sad. But I'll end on a happier note. Have a wonderful visit with your girls and please send that pizza over to me, lol! I will be off to Trader Joe's soon. Take good care of yourself and have a wonderful week.
Hi Sheri,
Oh, I really appreciated what you shared here, about visiting with your brother-in-law. "We both, however, agreed on the importance of humanity in the world." I am also happy you did not fight. I know too many people who have let politics destroy friendships. So sad.
Thank you for sharing Betsy Ross with us. I love, love the doll and report.

Oh I would love to have deer in my yard! You captured some nice photos of them, Sheri. My son lives fairly close to the Sacramento river and in the summertime, they come and lay in his yard - 2 years now. He feeds them and they bring their babies.
All I get around my house are turkeys, Ravens - mostly birds. Or the occasional horse with a rider, trotting down the street.
Oh I'm so happy the school is teaching them American history. Very cute Betsey Ross doll. I want to order a Betsy Ross flag for July. I still haven't done that yet!
Nice post today and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
Beautiful and sweet photos. Cute doll, congrats to Mia!
The Betsy Ross project was well done. the doll is adorable, as is her creator. Great information.
Betsy Ross is so adorable!! The pizza looks so good, was it frozen? I bet it was one of those made in the grocery store.
I always love the visits of deer, except when they try to munch too much on my plants, lol! But they are such magnificent creatures. Your sweet Mia is absolutely precious, and I loved reading her report on Betty Ross, and the doll she created! What a great job, please tell her that for me! Her handwriting is beautiful! I understand politics discussion, difficult. So much is difficult these days. Thankful for your good visit together! We will definitely be wearing green tomorrow :) Blessings to you!
Talking politics may have been once considered distasteful but now it has become essential. It is no longer about a difference of opinion but a question of morality. Nice that you both were able to say your piece and move on it has unfortunately ripped so many families apart. Enjoy your time with your girls.. I am sure they will love every moment.
Yes, we do need humanity in bucket fulls. I love Mia's Betsy Ross doll. She did an amazing job. What fun to see the deer just outside of your window. Thanks for the reminder to wear green.
You and I have so much in common. I know exactly what you mean by saying a cabin is much better than a hungry castle. I would rather be in a cabin than a castle!!!
Mia did a GREAT job on her Betsy Ross doll and report. I was always interested in Betsy Ross.
I love how you see deer.
I think an ordinary week is a wonderful week.
I think having controlled burns is a necessary evil (for asthma sufferes) but you sure need to get rid of the brush on the ground to be safe.
I do the same thing for the kids - I get a cute bag and whenever I go out and see something I buy it and put it in the bag. Then I bring it the next time I see them, and it looks like a great gift. I understand about giving things to the girls now - I do that too.
Well, I enjoyed reading today. Love cancels and supreme pizza's too.
Such a lovely post--it really captured the beauty of everyday moments.
I can just picture those deer resting in your yard, what a gift to witness.
Mia’s Betsy Ross doll is adorable, and I love how you’re keeping family memories organized with such thoughtfulness.
Blessings, Sheri 🌹
Hi Sheri, I have been wearing my green shamrock earrings from Dublin! Mia's doll is beautiful, and she is growing up such a clever girl. I enjoyed reading her report: we visited Betsy Ross house in Philadelphia back in 2002! It was all so interesting. Your photos of the deer are gorgeous, and they are such gentle animals and a joy to see. We have controlled burns around here sometimes too, and like you I don't like the smoke even though it is a good thing to keep us safe. Have a great week.
It's so lovely to see you have deer in your garden.
Giving these keepsake bags to your granddaughters is a wonderful idea.
The doll Mia made herself is adorable.
Have a wonderful week!
Coming here is a true joy.
The doll and report is wonderful. I don't like the control fires either. It has been warm here. I have been so busy getting yard work done. I am almost caught up. I am so happy about that. 3 weeks until Easter! Time goes so fast! I hope you have a great week!
You're right about how sometimes the ordinary weeks are some of the best and most comfortable ones. And it sounded like many good things for you -- preparing for your trip, admiring the deer, welcoming your brother-in-law. That pizza looked great! I like Mia's doll!
Dear Sheri, the doll is lovely. Your photos of the deer are precious.
I miss seeing the wildlife! So beautiful.
I love that she made the doll. Very, very cool. Interested to see your new lights as well. Sounds fun. Deer are so cute. We have them here too. Love seeing them out back. I get that about not going outside on fire day. But also, like you mentioned, nice that it helps rid of things too. Wishing you a fun rest of your St Paddy's Day!
