Hello, and how is your January going so far? I had planned to drive to the city one day, but that meant waking up very early to avoid traffic, and it was so cold that morning, so I snuggled back into bed, and decided to make it a day of shopping in town. I'm glad I did, cause I bought myself a little surprise. I picked up a few Valentine goodies from the store, had a corn dog for lunch, and my next stop was to A's Home Shop. I got to visit with my friend, A, for about an hour.
There, standing in the corner was a little hutch - the same white hutch I admire every time and always want to buy. (It's actually a light cream color). But today I decided to treat myself and get that charming hutch. A. had her husband deliver it to my house. And it fits perfectly in one corner near the kitchen. I'd like to decorate it with seasonal stuff, so I will call it my "holiday hutch."
It has small drawers for notes and such, and spacious room below for storing things.
Come by next week if you'd like and see it all decorated for Valentine's Day. 💖
Have you ever tried these? They are soooo good.
We come across some beautiful things when we are in the process of cleaning and clearing.
My son treated me to an extra large pizza, while we watched a movie. You know, one of the best pizzas I've ever had comes from this little mountain town. It's so delicious that I had a couple slices before taking a picture.
We watched Under the Tuscan Sun. I've seen this movie a dozen times, but I never tire of it. It's a good show to watch in the new year. Have I ever told you the story about Jess in the little region of Italy? Jess traveled through Europe when she was younger for three months all by herself. Brave girl. She met up with a cousin and her sister for a short time, but most of the time it was just her. She saw so many wonderful places. One of them was Tuscany. When she was in Tuscany, she e-mailed me telling me to watch Under the Tuscan Sun, and that way it would be like us being there together. I did, and thought about her the whole time.
A blog friend sent this to me, and I loved it.
I baked some gingerbread scones with lemon icing. Oh my, they were the best scones I've ever had.
Francesca lost her white bear about a year ago. Uncle b. gave it to her when she was a baby, and it's her favorite. She's been missing her bear friend for a very long time. Jess and Francesca whispered words to Saint Anthony many times during that period. Saint Anthony is the Patron Saint of lost things. This weekend, Francesca visited her other grandma's house, and under one of the beds was her beloved white bear! She was thrilled, as it's been about a year since she lost it. *thank you, Lord. *thank you, Saint Anthony. You made a little girl very happy.
That's about it, my friends. My sister's birthday is this week, and I wish her a very special day. 🎂

I did love watching Under the Tuscan Sun and have read the book too. I once attended a reading with Frances Mayes after her book came out.
What a cute hutch for celebrating holidays. And the pizza looks so delicious. The brooch is gorgeous. Finally so glad the little bear was found.
That's such a lovely photo of you and your sister.
The Hutch is great, I'm so glad you treated yourself to it. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of it decorated.
It's especially wonderful that Francesca found her bear again.

Happy birthday to your Sis. You two look like twins.
Happy Gift to Yourself. I love that hutch. Wish I had a place for one like it in my house.

I am so glad that she found her teddy bear!
Your sister looks like you by the way.
I just love your hutch - it is beautiful and elegant looking. I am so happy for you.
Have you ever had the pretzels - from Trader Joe's? The Oreo? Yum!
That pizza looked so good as well.
I think that is so cool Jess went to Europe for 3 months.
I loved that movie Under the Tuscan Sun. She found herself.
Ald lastly gingerbread and orange scones sound great.
Lucky discovery, the white hutch. Wow, I can see it with your great decor in my mind. Glad that the bear was under the bed, she'll remember that for a long time.
The bear looks in such good shape, considering how old it is. she must have taken very good care of it. The hutch!!!! I adore it. It has everything. Display areas, storage. I would buy one just like it if we had any room in our kitchen. And you know how much I love when you post your decorations. I cannot WAIT to see it all decorated!!! I will be posting my Valentine's decorations at some point as well. I want a special place to put all my seasonal decorations. But for now they are all over the house. Is this movie the one with Richard Gere?
How wonderful that the bear was found. Happy birthday to your sister. That is a great picture of the two of you.
That is a perfect little white hutch, Sheri. I will be back to see it in full display!
I'm late commenting today....What a very special blessing for Francesca to find her white bear. I know she had a lot of tears throughout the time it was missing.. Happy she found it. This white hutch is perfect Sheri.. I love the idea that you are going to use it to decorate for the seasons/holidays. I'll be back for sure next week to see what you have done. I watched Under the Tuscan Sun several years ago and enjoyed this movie.. Wow, I can't imagine touring Europe by myself...glad Jen had the opportunity to do this. This pizza looks so good and so does your scones.. As well as the covered pretzels. My kind of foods.. I would love to have been able to join you in your day out on the town..sounds fun. Sending hugs your way!!
I love hearing about your little adventures in town, and that hutch is just perfect.
Can’t wait to see it decorated for Valentine’s Day!
I’ve added Under the Tuscan Sun to my watch list now too!
And how wonderful that Francesca finally found her white bear—what a happy ending!
Have a wonderful day, Sheri .🌹
Oh, Sheri. That was an adorable post. I am SO HAPPY little white bear was found. I always pray to St. Anthony when something is missing. He's helped me countless times! And the hutch is DARLING. Oh, I'd buy that in a hot minute! Can't wait to see it all decked out for Valentine's Day! Have a really great week! Hugs. Susan
I love your new hutch, Sheri, and I can't wait to see it decorated for Valentine's Day (and Easter, and Christmas!). It looks in wonderful condition, too. You lucked out on that one. That pizza looks fantastic and oh my! Those scones. The orange icing sounds wonderful. Do you have a link to the recipe?
Sheri wishing your sister a Happy Birthday. You both have the same sweet smile. What a special miracle for Francesca...so happy the Lord answered her precious prayer. The scones look absolutely fabulous...I can smell them baking. There is nothing that matches a good piece of pizza and this one looks delicious. I have never seen Under the Tuscan Sun...think I started to watch it and for some reason didn't get to finish it...sounds like one I need to see. Well last but not least...so excited to see what you do with this lovely hutch. I know you will put your special touch on it and Valentine's day will be special. Thank you always for your lovely posts and stopping to visit me. Your comments always pick up my spirits. Hugs!
I love the hutch, what a wonderful place to have special decor items. I really caught the sentence you get up early to avoid traffic, that is so me!
Your hutch is gorgeous Sheri. I have one too, which I brought to our new house. It is stained wood, but I have always thought I'd like it white. I can't wait to see what you put on it. That is lovely about the white bear, I am so happy it was found. I always pray to St Anthony when things go missing, and it often works for me too. Happy birthday to your sister. You look very alike.
Your posts are always like a hug. And I need them these days.
There are times when snuggling back into bed is the right thing to do, especially on a chilly morning. I love your hutch, and am looking forward to seeing how you decorate it with the changing seasons. I’ve never seen those white fudge pretzels. A lovely find during your downsizing. The pizza looks delicious, as do your scones. I am going to have to watch Under the Tuscan Sun, a lovely connection to Jess’ trip to Europe. So glad for the happy ending on Francesca’s lost bear, and a lovely saying on your friend's card. Happy birthday to your dear sister, sweet photo of you both. I hope January will continue to be a good one for you Sheri. Thanks for another lovely read.
Just wanted to say hi this weekend - are you going to get blasted with snow and cold weather? We are under a state of emergency starting tomorrow at noon. For ICE!
Your home must be lovely during holidays! the hutch will be useful.
Gingerbread lemon sounds like heaven. Two things I really love, ginger and lemon. YUUUUMY.
That hutch rocks. It's just so stinkin' cute. Really a nice treat for sure.
Movie times are the best. Just the best.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of your weekend. Cheers, Ivy.
Your hutch is perfect for your holiday decorations, Sheri! I think that little hutch was just waiting for you to take it home and give it some love. x
Your pin is so pretty - it would look lovely on a little pillow, I think.
I love that movie and read the book, too. Your daughter was so brave to travel alone, but what a great place to go and explore!
Sweet photo of you and your sister - two cutie-pies! Happy Birthday to her. Hope you have a nice week ahead with maybe some leftover pizza, too! Hugs xo K

I am not sure I have seen the movie. I am going to look for it. And Thank you to St. Anthony. He has helped me a few times. Too. I am sure your granddaughter was thrilled. I know how much those favorite stuffys mean to them.
