For The Barbie Lover

I had the most wonderful Christmas.  But first, I want to tell you about the incident on the night before Christmas Eve.  It had been very windy that day with some rain.  I heard a loud crash in the middle of the night.  I checked the porch area, and nothing.  Early in the morning around 7:00 (it was still dark out), I heard a chain saw and a couple men talking.  I went outside, and a BIG tree in my yard fell over and landed on the mailbox and into the street.  There were limbs and branches everywhere!  Two of my neighbors were cutting the wood and clearing out the road, so it was safe to drive.  One of the mailboxes (where the packages are delivered) busted open, and some packages fell to the ground.  My neighbor covered the packages with a big plastic bag so they wouldn't get damaged.  There were piles of wood everywhere, and it was a mess!  If the tree had fallen in the opposite direction, windows might have been broken, and damage might have occurred to my car and house.  Thank the Lord.  Oh, and shortly after, the postman came to the house - those packages that fell to the ground were mine!  They were torn open a little, but they were just clothes, nothing breakable, and secure in plastic bags.  My neighbor chopped some of the wood from the fallen tree, and will use it for firewood this winter.

My brother-in-law came over right before Christmas and brought me lots of goodies.  My sister-in-law baked and baked this year, and I got to sample it all.  When my in-laws send me surprises, it's like Santa came!  There was peanut brittle, brownies, rocky road, and Ghirardelli chocolate peppermint bark.  Brother-in-law made raisin oatmeal cookies and homemade chili.  His chili is the best, and it taste even better with a little cheese on top, and some corn chips.

Me and my son had appetizers on Christmas Eve, and he made a nice ham dinner.  I didn't get pics of it, but it was a delicious glazed ham, with the meat just falling off the bone.

Jess gave me the most thoughtful gifts - white towels, plates and bowls, a school photo of Francesca, peppermint pretzels, See's candy.  Nel's will be coming soon, and it will be fun getting a surprise in January.  This Mickey's coffee was delightful.  Jess is always visiting Disney, and it's her happy place.  This cup was a gift from my son.

And Jess gave me this white soft, furry, sweater/jacket.

During the week, my son made tamales, and although this was a process and it was his first time, they turned out really good.

Charlotte was sick at Christmas, but here are a few pics at their house the days before.

And there is always the tradition of seeing the Nutcracker production every year.

I packed up Christmas and put it all away until next year.  I did keep some wintery things out, as winter just started and will linger on for another four months here.

We have a huge interest and love of Bigfoot around these parts up here, and there have even been sightings in northern California of people claiming to have seen him.  Jess placed this stuffie in with all her gifts.

Isn't this the most delightful Barbie?  It's a Self-Care Barbie.  Jess got it for Christmas, and it's a reminder to take time out just for herself.

And I just got these pics back from Jess.  It's the French Cafe we went to when I visited.  It had such a magical atmosphere.

Here's to a splendid new year!  May it bring many good things to you and me.

Sheri, WOW - So glad that tree took a opposite direction. I have a huge incense cedar tree in my yard my dad planted. We check it all the time but the wind sure blows it around, the top swaying back and forth.
We have the outside lights and nativity packed away in anticipation for the next storm. Can you believe, we still have piles of fall leaves? I'll be packing away the decorations inside and as you did, keeping out the generic winter decor till the end if Jan.
The pictures of the family is always a delight. Enjoy this last week of 2025.

WOW, that was a big tree!! What a blessing that it did not do any damage to any of the homes or vehicles.
I love all the photos you shared. And I think it is special that Jess got the Barbie, that is so true, self care is so important.
Happy New Year my dear friend.
Love, Carla

Having wood for the winter, not too shabby. Glad the clothes were okay and safe.

All the food looks wonderful. Love me some peppermint bark. Been making a version of that here along with chocolate peppermint cookies.

So fun.

Your mug with the candy cane handle is SOOOOO CUTE.

I just got Tim Mothman and Big Foot stuff for Christmas. We're in to that too. That doll is very cute.

Sorry to hear about Charlotte being sick. Here's to a healthy and happy 2026.

Cheers, Ivy.

Beautiful, happy faces throughout your post, Sheri...so sweet. Wow, what a Blessing that this big tree did not fall in the direction toward you car and home. Thankful you have good people around you to help with the tree. So much sickness going on around here as well...lots of flu. Hope your little one is on the mend and that no one else gets sick. Big Foot... Is he real? When Sam went to Alaska a few years ago, he shared a condo with a man who was part of his fishing party. This man totally believes in Big foot. and he even told Sam some stories that would definitely make one want to believe. Enjoy your day Sheri..Been praying that your area is not in the flooding area that we've been hearing about in California. Big hugs..

What a dramatic story with the tree! It's lucky your house wasn't hit.

Such lovely pictures of Charlotte and your family. They enjoyed Christmas.
The fountain in the second-to-last picture is magical, a wonderful photo.

I wish you all the best for the new year, good health, joy, and happiness.

I love all of these photos of your beautiful family. So sorry Charlotte is sick. There seems to be a lot of that going around now.
I'm so thankful your house was spared and the neighbors were so helpful in taking care of that huge tree.
Love all of the gifts and the Christmas mug is delightful. Having Mickey Morning Roast makes it even better.
I sure wish we could get back to our "Happy Place" Disneyland. Not going to happen at those prices though.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.

That tree was huge! So, who was responsible for it and the cost of repairs? You were blessed.
You hit the lottery with the food from your BIL. How nice he remembers you like that.
And your sons' snacks - and dinner - and tamales are great.
I need to take my Christmas down this weekend.
Sorry Charlotte was sick - but it was cute with daddy helping on the cookies.
I loved your gifts - my favorite was that white jacket - very pretty.
The Nutcracker Ballet and Self Care Barbie - such girl things.
I do love the winter scene you put up.
Well Happy New Year - if I were there, I'd have a glass of champagne with you.

You were really lucky with how that tree fell.
Good neighbors make all the difference.
Everything else sounds so cozy and comforting, especially all the homemade food.
And that Self-Care Barbie is just perfect - such a sweet reminder.
Wishing you a calm, happy new year ahead, Sheri 🌹

Oh Sheri, so glad the tree went the other way. The angels were looking after you at Christmas. I am glad your parcels were saved too, in time for Christmas. What a beautiful time you had, and such lovely pictures. I love your gingerbread cup, so cute at Christmas and the white jacket is beautiful. Little Charlotte is all grown up (how time flies!). I love her baking cookies. Bigfoot is interesting; I have seen some of the old movies taken long ago. The stuffie is so cute and benevolent. Happy New Year to you Sheri, and may it bring peace to our world and health and happiness to you.

So thankful you survived that tree falling, and had such wonderful helpful neighbors! Glad that "alls well that ended well" as Pa Ingalls used to say. What a lovely Christmas you had, so thankful to hear of all the wonderful things you got to enjoy with your family! Happy New Year to you!

That was surely divine intervention with the tree, Sheri! So glad nobody was hurt, and your home wasn't damaged! How nice of your neighbors to clean it all up for you, too.
Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas with your son and in-laws. So many sweet gifts and delicious things. Love seeing all the photos of your dear family, too.
We have the Bigfoot legend going strong here, too. My husband swears he saw it once, early one morning on his way to work. He's not one to believe in things like that either! Lol!
Happy New Year, dear Sheri! x
