I love November, and I always remember and reflect on the first day of November, as it is All Saints' Day. I pause throughout the day and think about all the dear Saints that I have become familiar with on this earth through stories and writings, and appreciate them immensely. I was also pleasantly surprised that my Francesca was born on this day.
So, I went to the falls recently, but before that, me and my son drove to the lake. Here are some pictures of that nice sunny day. There is a road from the falls that takes you directly to the lake, and it isn't far at all. It was so charming with all the colors of Autumn.
I heard that there was already snow on Mount Shasta, so I had to take a look for myself.
When I saw this painting I had to get it. It will be so nice for the wintery season. You'll have to come back and see it soon when I put it on my mantel with twinkling lights for Christmas.
Do you like my new kitchen towels?
And speaking of hot cocoa, I saw the movie "A Hot Cocoa Christmas." It was a delightful film.
And as much as I'm looking forward to the Christmas season, I'm still enjoying Autumn.
Here's Charlotte painting her wee pumpkin.
And here's a story for you.
My internet has been going in and out for about a week, so I finally got the cable guy to come out and check on it. He made sure all the wires were connected and couldn't really find anything. Now, I'm on the large corner lot, and the utility pole is right in front of the house. He decided to go up high and take a look. He found nuts being stored inside the cable box that squirrels have buried - all kinds of nuts, not just acorns, but others. He said it looked like nuts from people feeding the squirrels. There were so many of them, and with the rains, it made them soggy and clogged up the lines! I would have never thought that the reason my internet service was not working properly was because of those squirrels invading my space! The worker told his mom, who lives close to me, to stop feeding the squirrels. And she told him that she feeds the birds, but the squirrels just get into it. I was talking with my neighbor about this, and he mentioned that the same thing happened to him before I moved in haha.
I thought these Lorikeets were so pretty, and such friendly birds.
Since this is the month of Thanksgiving, I'll leave you with a verse I came across recently.
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout our praises to our Protector who delivers us, let us enter His presence with Thanksgiving.
~Psalm 95
I hope you have beautiful November days.

Oh those squirrels can be so nutty! Maybe they know it's going to be a heavy winter, so they're using any available storage for their stash. It's good you called the cable guy to check. When the snow comes it might have been a longer wait. The pictures are so pretty of the area. I always enjoy that lake. My husband today is near your area today on a day hike. I'm sure he will have many pictures to share.
Was Charlotte afraid of the bird in that one photo? That winter painting is so pretty and will look so nice displayed on your mantle. Thank you for lovely Psalm today. Enjoy your week, dear friend.
Happy Belated Birthday to Francisca. Hope she had a wonderful day!! Sheri..these photos are so pretty and I love that the snow is already on Mt. Shasta. Fall in your area is really showing out in your area. I too am enjoying the Fall season (even with my tree up). I've got pumpkins and fall flowers out as well. Too funny I know. Gosh, who would imagine that the squirrels would store their food that way? They are certainly going to be disappointed when they come and find their winter stash is gone. I do love new kitchen towels, especially holiday designs. Lots of cuteness on your post today...made me smile.
Oh Sheri, that was a beautiful post. You had so many beautiful photos. The cloud one especially touched my heart. Of course, all photos of the grands make me happy. They are mega adorable. I love your new towel! And I am watching Christmas movies, too. Will have to check out the one you noted. I hope your week is totally blessed from start to finish, dear Sheri. Hugs. Susan
The lake looks magical in autumn. The way the autumnal trees are reflected in the water is simply beautiful.
I love these Christmas movies. I enjoy watching them during the Advent season. I also watched one over the weekend called "Write Before Christmas."
The story with the nuts and the squirrels is funny to read. I hope your internet is working again now.
Hi Sheri, Oh the story about the nuts and the squirrels is fun, but could be dangerous too. Who knows what could happen with all those nuts packed in a space. ;-)
We have a neighbor who feeds out peanuts, in the shell. I find tons of peanuts buried in my gardens.
Happy Birthday to your dear sweet Francesca.
I do like your new Christmas towels.
I LOVED all the photos today. :-) Autumn beauty, Mount Shasta and your sweet family.
Prayers to you,
Carla
Your photos of the lake and trees are GORGEOUS!! Also the sky and the Teasel. Both Mia and her tiny pumpkin are so full of JOY!!! I LOVE your story of the nuts!!!! Who'da thought? Is this the painting you found at Dollar General? I can't wait till they get the winter ones in! I love it!
Oh those naughty little squirrels. We fed rainbow lorikeets last year and they were so friendly and gentle.
I love your painting and your heart.
Hello! Happy All Saints, All Souls, and Happy November, my friend! Loved catching up with you and all the sweet littles. And the squirrel story is crazy!! Lol. I don't know why but squirrels stashing nuts gives me the creeps. It makes no sense, I know! But ick! Anyway, enjoy the beautiful seasons upon us!
That's pretty funny about the nuts -- and good to know, in case it happens to us! At least they aren't digging up your potted plants all summer. You picked the perfect day to do your road trip. I loved every single photo -- the falls, the tree and Mount Shasta. A lovely post, Sheri.
Your photos of the lake and area are spectacular and really show how beautiful fall is... I love your new kitchen towels and love watching Christmas movies. Weird story about the squirrels and your Internet- Who would have known???
If anyone can write an interesting post - it, is you. I LOVE November too! Happy Belated Birthday to Francisca. She makes a cute Barbie.
The lake area was so pretty and what is nice you had it alone. Who gets that these days? And I loved the trees, and the reflection of the trees in the lake. You even made a weed look pretty. There is snow at Mt. Shasta. That movie looked good, but I don't get GFC. I do like hot chocolate though. Love the meme. So, Charolotte looked a little scared with the birds - but they were pretty. Your daughter does some pretty wonderful things with the kids.
Glad you enjoyed your day!
Glad you got your Computer problem straightened out.. Who would have thought?
Nice pictures of the lake and the trees.... Mount Shasta as well. I love the picture that you bought. Lovely winter season.
A lovely post Sheri! Thank you so much for the stories and the always enjoyable photos. How about that? Those squirrels are such rascals and sadly can be destructive, hurray for the cable guy! The snow painting is beautiful and that photo of Mount Shasta is stunning! The photos of your granddaughters are adorable! What a great experience for them to get up close and personal to those pretty birds. Your new tear towel is lovely! I just ordered Christmas napkins with a Williamsburg scene on them. I am looking forward to using them and it will soon be time to get the trees decorated. Thank you for the lovely psalm. I haven’t watched any Christmas movies yet but soon. Happy November to you all!
I cannot believe we haven't had some snow yet where I live. Though I love fall too, it's all very nice. Interesting about the nuts. I kinda wonder if that's what's going on with ours. Thanks for telling us this story.
Oh those pesky squirrels. In a way it is funny where they are storing their nuts. What a nice verse to end your post. I have been thinking a lot about being thankful this month and always love singing for joy. What a beautiful picture of Mt.Shasta. I love seeing the mountains covered in snow. Your snowy picture will be greatly enjoyed this winter too.
Hi, I'm here from Ginny's blog. I read your comments all the time and thought it was about time I said hello. I am a fellow Northern Californian living in Rocklin. Loved the photo of Shasta and your darling grands.
Love the bible verse about entering His presence with Thanksgiving.
Sue
Wonderful post... Lovely pics too
I love nature walks in the fall - so colorful and the air smells different! Wonderful shots of the lake you went to. I'm enjoying the fall too and I'm not thinking about Christmas yet. There's still all of December for that. I also love light romantic Christmas movies.
