A week ago, I went to the city with my son. I had to get some bath towels. I had ordered some on-line, and they were pretty nice ones (so I thought), but they just gradually fell apart in the wash. I was so disappointed, so off to the city I went to get some new towels. I thought it was going to be a nice Fall day ahead, but instead it was 97 degrees. But I made the most of it, cause it's such a treat going to the city now that I live in the mountains. It gave me a chance to get some of the much needed items I've been wanting. We first stopped at Starbuck's, and I ordered a pumpkin spice latte, and this time a chocolate croissant. Warmed up, they never disappoint.
We then headed over to Target. I bought a glass measuring cup, and I found this peppermint tea. It's so tasty, and very calming. Peppermint has many good health benefits too.
Hobby Lobby was next, and I've always loved this little wooden block (Nel has the same one), so as I was browsing through all the isles looking for it, I was surprised to see it pop up on one of the shelves.
My son wanted to see a movie, so we went over to the cinema, and the only matinee playing was Downton Abbey. Well, I'll be nice and just say....no thank you, not for me.
We went to Kohl's and I found some nice bath towels. And I also couldn't resist this sweatshirt for those casual and comfy days at home.
We went to a favorite restaurant and ordered a combination pizza and a big salad. It was one of the best pizzas I've had.
We hit all the shops that day...Target, Hobby Lobby, Kohl's, Home Goods, Sprouts, Michaels, Trader Joes, Barnes and Noble, and
My feet were sore at day's end, but I put some arch inserts in my shoes for extra support. It was the best day, even though it was scorching hot haha. I'll go back sometime this winter for a cooler outing. There is always traffic driving down the mountain into the city. And there is always less traffic traveling back up the mountain cause, well, who would want to live in an area surrounded with pines, where it snows six months out of the year, where you find neighbor helping neighbor, where the water is fresh, and the smell of the mountains fills your senses? I would. ; )
And as always, it's a must to bring home lots of goodies after a day in the city.
I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies - I really like baking in the Fall, especially when it can get so cold up here during the fall and winter seasons. Warms the kitchen up a bit.
Picked up some Gala apples at the store, as they are one of my favorites, along with red delicious. I made some stewed apples with them.
A Tuscan herb pork roast. Oh man, was it good.

Another tree in town starting to show its golden color.
I welcome October. It is my Jess' birth month, 👱 and a pleasant month all around. Here is my calendar page for October. The page features the word "confidence." I've always had a lot of confidence - don't know when I got it or how, but it's always been there. I wonder if it's something that the youngest child often acquires? The girl on the page kind of looks like a Native American, doesn't she?
Speaking of that, I'll leave you with an ~Apache Spiritual Teaching~ I came across recently.
"All of creation is related. And the hurt of one is the hurt of all. And the honor of one is the honor of all. And whatever we do affects everything in the universe."
May October bring you little joys and big wonders.

Good morning Sheri... What a super great sport your son is to travel with you to all of these fine stores. Living in the mountain area sounds so good to me. I can just imagine the freshness of the air and then to be surrounded by the trees and the rivers. Ahhh...my kind of life. I did see Downton Abby and was a little disappointed in the movie. Goodness...that pizza does look delicious along with all the other good things you posted for us to drool over. A fresh pastry and a cup of hot tea makes for a great day. Your sweat shirt looks fun!!! It is truly those little joys that makes life good... We are in the 90's here and I just keep my fingers crossed that a cool front will swing on down to Texas... Have a good one today..
Good Monday Morning to you Sheri. What a gorgeous Fall day. Gosh I loved your post - so much to see. First off, love that mug of yours! You did quite a bit of shopping at all the same places I tend it hit except for Barnes and Nobles. I haven’t been in since they changed locations. It can be a very dangerous place for my wallet! 😬
With that much walking in the stores, a good arch support sure helps. The trees in my yards haven’t turned yet but I’ll be keeping an eye out for when they do. There are some places in town that are starting. I’m so glad for cooler temperatures this week and the 95% chance for rain today. ❤️
I always look forward to your Monday posts! I hope you enjoy a week filled with pumpkin spice, fall color, cozy evening and cookies in the oven!
Hellloooooo Sheri! What fun stores. Many I love to go to as well. I've always, always wanted to go into a Sprouts. I love the name. It's just so dang cute. Love Snoopy in our house too. What a fun pup. And you made cookies, that's on my list this week. Over the weekend we hit Target and we like their dark chocolate chunks. Haven't put them in a cookie yet (that I can recall, will have to check notes to be sure), but have baked with them in other bakes.
Sounds like you had a rippin' good trip. Sorry the movie wasn't the best. Here's the the next one.
PS: The flash used for my photos isn't the flash that comes with the camera - I used in those photos a speedlight. Godox V350 that fits on many brands. I use it on the camera and then also with a trigger, off camera.
Great, great, great fun!
Cheers to you and Happy Fall! 🎃👻🤍🍂
You had a lovely day in the city.
I start every morning with peppermint tea, and I haven't had a stomachache since.
The sweatshirt with Snoopy is adorable. A lovely photo of you, we wear our hair very similarly. :)
Charlotte looks so funny in the photo, both girls are adorable.
I wish you a wonderful new week
Hi, I enjoy that same brand of peppermint tea. :-) I now know my dear friend Sheri is enjoying the same tea as me.
:-)
I loved all the photos.
What is all in Jess's snack mix, looks good. And those girls are so cute!!!

Hello! Ok, I am sitting down and sipping my water. Exciting, I know! I have to remind myself to drink water throughout the day because I often forget to do so. Tea was my mom's favorite, and now it is Madison's and Flynn's, too. They are currently loving an elderberry one. Your day sounds lovely, and I am so glad you had such a good time, despite the heat. You know we share a love of Snoopy, and coffee mugs too! Love seeing the pretty picture of you!!! Happy almost October, my friend.
I love peppermint tea!
Your blog has made me rethink California. Mountains? Travel into city? Of course. I tend to picture LA and highways. I forget there are trees.
Un día muy ocupada, con multitud de ocupaciones. Al llegar el final del día habrás terminado algo cansada.
Saludos.
The tree is gorgeous! I love the Apache quote, and it is so true. wow, you really had an awesome time with your son! You left no store unturned! These are all stores I love! Your food looks so good. And most of all, I love seeing YOU! You are so cute!
I don't know what happened to my computer - I think someone deleted my cache but I had to work to leave a comment on here.
Well, I do like the Apache saying and I think it is true.
You look very good in pink. I hope your new towels hold up better than the last. When I go to Starbucks I have found two new things - Iced Peach Green Tea and Strawberry Refresher with lemonade. So good. Did you find your creams at Target? Love the Snoopy sweatshirt too. The pizza looked good. I would have loved to go see Downton Abbey. No one will go with me here. The mini carrot cake I recognize from Trader Joes. The cookies looked good and so did the apples. What or how did you stew the apples? The trees are not turning here yet - I long for fall. The girls were cute making and eating their treat. And I am glad it is September!
Me dio ganas de la pizza y de los panes, Ten una buena semana.
Dear Sheri, I love the Celestial Seasonings teas, they are amazing. Bengal Spice is a good Autumn 🍂 and Winter one if you haven't tried it. The girls are precious. Your photos are beautiful. The pizza looks great. I love roast pork.
Ah Sheri - I so enjoyed hearing about your trip to the city. Like you I am living in the country and so a trip to town/city is a treat from time to time. Is not Hobby Lobby the best place? Our closest one is about 35 miles away. Most likely that is not a bad thing - it helps me save money :)! I like Paul Newman's teas also. Adore the Apache Spiritual Teaching. Would it not be nice if everyone took this message to heart? Well enjoy the month of October friend...hope it brings you lots of joy - Hugs!
It sounds like despite the heat and your feet, it was a wonderful and productive day. I love that peppermint tea too! I loved the Downton movie, but then I loved the series too -- just wish it had closed captions! But hopefully the aircon in the theatre helped with the heat! That pizza looks great. And I especiallylove it that you did this trip with your son!
Looks like a day well spent.
Such fun! Precious time with your dear son. Adorable post! Happy October my dear friend.
I'm sure your Snoopy will bring you Happy October.
My goodness, what a busy day for you! But I understand. We do the same thing, about once every couple of months. You save up your errands and try to get them done all on the same day. All the food you shared looked so good! I love peppermint tea - grow my own peppermint, and then dry it, so I enjoy my own tea all winter long. Sweet picture of your grandbabies! And of you too!! Precious memories with your son. Glad that you spent the day together! Happy October blessings to you!
This is just so joyful.
97 degrees. Oh wow! Lovely finds while out and about, love all the goodies and the yummies. Great that spend time with your son too. I am one of the few people who wasn’t a Downton Abbey fan and will not be going to see the new movie. However, I love Snoopy and Woodstock and that shirt would have made it into my shopping basket. An adorable photo of your granddaughters, I shall once again leave smiling. Thank you for another splendid read Sheri. Have a great October!
Wow! You really accomplished a lot in the city and brought home some really good stuff. Living in the mountains does sound clean and wonderful but I get that it is not for everyone.- probably not for me- especially I don't like snow.I don't live in the city, but I do live in the burbs in a development with houses all around. I guess that's what I'm use to and I would find it difficult to live so far from the stores. But I'm sure your quality of life is better than ours.I don't even know most of my neighbors. Have a good week.
Hi Sheri,
Your city trip was a success! So many fun stores to look through. I seem to only go to Walmart these days. I need to get out more often. I never seem to have time or energy.
Enjoy your fall days! We had a big storm a couple nights ago it was crazy. I am enjoying cooler temperatures.
I love the J.R.R. Tolkien quote, especially when paired with a cheerful photo of your darling granddaughters.

God bless.
Your photo of Tuscan pork roast makes me want to buy and cook one. Your city visit was very productive.
