Big Storm Headed Our Way

There's a big storm headed our way as I write this.  Friday and Saturday we got lots of rain, and Sunday and Monday we're supposed to get heavy rain.  They are calling it a 'flash flood watch.'  But I think it's God cleansing the woods.  Do you know how many fires we had up here this Summer?

I did get some rain seeping in my back porch area, and the cardboard box which holds my photo albums got wet underneath.  I immediately went to the store, and bought a big plastic bin to put them in.  There are 26 albums from when my kids were growing up, and I still hold on to them.  There were three albums that didn't fit in the bin, so I have to get another one soon.  Now they are all organized for my children.  If you're wondering why she keeps all those albums.......Oh, my friends, I was a stay-at-home mom with three children for many many years, and that was my life!  I have so many memories in those pictures.  I was with those little ones every day and all day, and I had lots of sweet moments with them. Doesn't Jess look like Francesca here?  I remember putting pink make-up on her cheeks to make them rosy.

I looked out the window one day,

and saw this.....eeeeek!  I took a picture from inside cause they still scare me haha.  I know, it's kind of crazy living in the mountains and being afraid of squirrels........but I am.

My poor pink rose drenched with rain.

I have some Halloween candy in case any kids stop by.

I love this picture of Mia looking through the Halloween goodies.  I gave the kids that witch on top.  She twirls and cackles when you press her arm.

And her witchy fingers on Zoom.

I'll leave you with a couple pictures of the storm.

Oh, I wish you could see Fall here when the rain had stopped.  Its so pretty.  But we'll have two more days of heavy rain.

Have a fun Halloween week.

Lovely memories. Good thing it rained there. The land is getting wet, and hopefully the wildfires won’t be there anymore. Squirrels are wonderful, -))

You really got a downpour but the leaves on the trees look so pretty when they are washed clean. I have lot of albums of photos of my 4 boys growing up! I love getting them out and looking at them! Enjoy your week!

We have tons of squirrels. Sometimes they come sit on our deck and watch us eat breakfast.. they go nuts at the bird feeders..
We have deer in our backyard as well.. it was so wonderous in the beginning.. the joys of living nears woods. It's the bugs that come with all the nature that I don't like.
Yay that you got some much needed rain.

Keep those photos - they are so precious. They grandchildren will surely cherish them. My son really dislikes squirrels, yet he is an animal advocate. But squirrels, he cannot stand, they give him the heebie jeebies. He says they eat baby birds etc. That they are not sweet little animals! We did have one that used to try to pick fights without our huge labs! It was such an aggressive little beast! Stay safe in the storms, please! These bomb cyclones are frightening, especially in areas that can flood or have hillsides shifting.

Hello, my friend. And yes. Those days of littles at home are wonderful. I am blessed to have one left, but she is growing up quickly. Stay safe and cozy during your rainstorm. And squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons? All give me the creeps!!!!

The pics of your kids are so precious, and should always be kept! They say that with all this rain, there should be no more fires the rest of the year. I was a stay at home Mom as well.

I don't know why but I do love Halloween - I love the colors and the fun. The kids look like that are going to have a great time.
Gosh in Chicago we had those red leaves - we don't get that color here in GA that I see. I think they are the prettiest color.
So how did you box get wet? Those old albums might be worth some money some day. I gave mine to my son - I had the original Beatles and Herman Hermits - and The Monkees. Kind of wish I had kept them. When the kids were little we played some albums by Hap Palmer - don't know if you remember him or not.
Glad you are getting rain tho - those fires were bad.
Love, sandie

I'm so glad you could save your precious photos of your children through the years! I have so many albumns downstairs with the same, my friend. I've told my children that I could never get rid of them! Seeing your children through the years are just darling! It's wonderful you got rain, but I'm sorry it got into your photos. Have a happy week!

I was a stay-at-home mom as well and then opened up a daycare in my home so I was still at home. I didn't leave the house for gainful employment until Navy was 15 or 16. Then I was a Nanny. I've spent my whole life working with children. I miss it and at times I still dream I am with some of my past kiddos who are now adults with children of their own.

Yeah, it rained here but it wasn't as fierce as hyped. I enjoyed it.

Sheri,
I am so glad you had a lot of rain. It will end fire season for sure. More on the way tonight here and tomorrow. I also have albums full of photos. I also keep them. I enjoy looking back over the years. I scan some at times to post, but it there are a lot of memories in the albums. I was also a stay at home Mom. Happy Halloween Week to you!

I've heard about the crazy weather, especially on the West Coast. You are so smart to keep your photos in plastic bins now. My daughter has a basement that floods sometimes and she keeps everything in plastic bins as she has no other storage space. In the Midwest we are having wind, rain and gloom, so no complaints.

Take care, Sheri!

Ooh, what a storm you had Sheri. You took a great photo of the squirrel, and I think it a good idea to be cautious around those little guys. Once we were walking around in a park in London, and one suddenly leapt onto my husband's leg and starting climbing up! We do not have squirrels here, and were so shocked and had to chase it away. Mia is growing up such a pretty little girl. I bet she really enjoys Halloween these days. I had the same life as you, and as many albums to show for it too. Lately I have been scanning some of the old photos including our wedding and my early life. I have scanned the best ones of the kids too, but the albums are so precious. They live in a cupboard near the front door so I can always take them out in case of fire!

Dear Sheri, good morning! I was just thinking of you right after I read my morning news. One of the stories was about the weather you are all having in California and the entire Pacific Northwest. I worried about you immediately. Please stay clear of any trees....I know your house may be surrounded by many of them. Trees can come down so just keep watch and listen to the news so you can know what to do in case the winds get too strong! AND that squirrel...hehehehehehehe they are PEEPING TOMS! I told you I was sitting by my window one day reading and I looked and saw a squirrel right at my window, peering in! Talk about spooky...hehehe

I'm glad you are getting rain but I hope it stays dry in the house. I'm glad you were able to rescue the photo albums. I've been going through every one of mine, tossing all the bad photos or duplicates, scanning ones I want to keep and sending the original photos to the friends or family who are in them. It takes a long time. But I knew they'd never get to the people "they belonged to" if I waited to send them off! I'm glad you have room for them.

The other day when they were showing the rain moving in in your area, I wondered how it was where you were. Photos are the most precious of things. I would save them before I saved other items.

Love the pics of your kids when they were young.

Sheri hoping you didn't get washed away in all the rain. I know though the west has been so dry. Your photos are precious. Certainly, they are a treasure to be kept safe. Your squirrel is so cute. They always make me smile. In the winter they eat with the birds at the feeder on the deck. I don't mind😊! Have a lovely weekend. Hugs!

Hello Dear Sheri. Oh, your kids are totally adorable....from yesterday as well as today! Just darling. And the grands! Yes, they resemble their Mamas, for sure. I saw where the weather there was quite rainy and windy and thought of you. Glad you are doing okay. You are a faithful blog friend and I love your visits dearly. Hope your weekend is super, too, Sheri. Hugs. Susan

It seems the whole west coast is getting a lot of rain this fall. It is much needed, but sometimes doesn't behave itself and stay where it belongs. So glad you got some plastic bins now. Sweet memories to treasure.
