It's The Little Things

I'm getting settled in my new surroundings in the mountains, and with the workers coming and going and unpacking, it's been hectic, to say the least.  But I'm loving it just the same.  Here's a few pictures of this and that, and it's the little things that have made this journey a pleasant one.

I thought this was a wolf at first, but I think it's just my neighbor's dog.  Look at those eyes!

This reminded me of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

It's been cloudy lately, but one day the sun came out and warmed my face as I looked to the sky.

There is a trail right next to my house, and my son goes on it every other day.  So peaceful he says.

We had a foggy morning one day.  Foggy days are beautiful to me.

My boots bring in the dirt with this mountain living, and I have to mop every day!  My brother is going to order some sand and gravel for the front yard that will help with that.

With all the unpacking and organizing, I don't know how I found the time to cook.  But it sure was good.

Remember my beautiful bedroom dresser?  It didn't fit in this house, so I asked my neighbor, Lisa, if she wanted it.  She thought it was gorgeous, and said, "Yes!"  She came right over after that and brought me some homemade tamales.

Have you ever had mountain water?  Oh, it's amazing.  The first day I got here, I was dehydrated, and all the glasses were still packed up, so I cupped my hands and took a drink.  I couldn't stop drinking, it was so good.  And it's strange.....I have been finding pennies outside here and there in the most random places.

Laurie, where the spruce trees grow

Although, will I ever get used to these?....I don't think so.   I guess as long as they don't come in the house.  (this rascal was right in my front yard, eeeeek).  ; )

Beautiful photos! I've read in numerology that pennies represent new beginnings, the start of a new chapter and a fresh start. Sounds legit to me!

Sheri,
What beauty you have surrounding you!
I think you fit in perfectly with the mountain life.
I always think of my father when I find a penny.
I like to think he is reaching across eternity and letting me know he is with me. Enjoy your new home and life, my friend!

hehehehehehhehe we have plenty of these overstuffed tree burritos but they're harmless...except that one of them started to eat the wood on the overhang of our front entrance!

Sheri, you will love this. You are enveloped in nature and I can't wait to see your photos, read your thoughts from all the inspiration you are going to receive. LOVE!

Oh my Sheri - this would be somewhere I would love to live. The road/lane looks great...makes you want to wander to the turn in the road and see what lies ahead. I think you are just going to love living there. Can look forward to many more pictures like the squirrel and the neighbor's dog and the Charlie Brown Christmas tree - which by the way made me smile. I am sure with spring and summer and fall - each season will give your artist's heart a reason to get that camera out and about. Hugs!

Sounds like you are getting use to the new home and you have a new friend too. We feed our squirrels sunflower seeds here. They have quite the personalities. We enjoy watching them run up and down the trees and around the yard.

What a beautiful area to live in! We have lived in Colorado for eight years after living our entire lives in NYC, and I love the newness of everything and all the nearby nature. I think you will also love living on your mountain.

Wonderful to hear you are loving your surroundings so much. Squirrels are sneaky little fellows, try not to feed them.

Your mountain surroundings look beautiful, Sheri! You sound so at ease and peaceful. The trail your son goes on sounds great. Maybe one day you will go with him on his walk. The squirrel is so cute. I'm sure he will keep his distance! Enjoy it all, my friend.

Yes, I have tried mountain water, and it is so fresh and sweet! Also mountain air, which is also sweet and good, as long as you are away from a city. Your new location is very appealing, especially the trees along the trail. Your cooking looks delicious, as do the tamales. Yum! Even the squirrel looks cute to me - enjoy your beautiful new place, dear Sheri.

It truly is the little things that do it for me. Everyday is a gift and we must look for the sunshine.

Thank goodness for mountains, cute doggies, Charlie Brown Christmas trees, tamales, neighbors, friends who post nice things, sunny days, foggy days, and such. I enjoyed this post and find it nice to be reminded of the treasure that there is to be found in the little things.

Your home-cooked meal looks quite delicious, and such a treat to enjoy after a day of unpacking. Sending many blessings to you!

So glad you are enjoying being a mountain girl. We have tons of the "rascals" in our yard every day. They love getting into our bird feeders. What a nice trail. I hope you can enjoy it when it warms up a bit. The meatloaf looked delicious! And yes! there is always "space for the little things."

I am so glad you are lving where you are. The eyes of the neighbor's dog are intense!

I have a new squirrel that will sometimes eat from my hand. I am thrilled. She is not here everyday. But she knows my voice. I am hoping she raises a litter of babies in the trees next door. But they can be destructive. I have known two people that had the squirrels get in their vehicles and chew up their wiring.

Glad you are getting settled in. Such beautiful photos. We have squirrels all over around here. When I was a teenager at my parents' house, we had one that would let us hand feed him. He'd come to the back door begging for a treat!

How fun to have these new experiences in your mountain home. I love walking in the woods on trails any time of the year. You will enjoy the birds, too. I moved to the Georgia mountains about four years ago and it has been fun to explore new to me places. I look forward to you sharing. Mildred💕
