A poem for you in the new year.
Two frogs fell into a deep cream bowl,
One was an optimistic soul,
But the other took a gloomy view,
"I shall drown," he said "and so will you."
So with a last despairing cry,
He closed his eyes and said "Good-bye."
But the other frog with a merry grin,
Said "I can't get out, but I won't give in.
I'll swim around til my strength is spent.
For bravely trying, I'll die content."
So on he swam until it would seem,
His struggles began to churn the cream.
On top of the butter at last he stopped,
And out of the bowl he happily hopped.
What's the message here. It's easily found.
If you can't get out - keep swimming around.

On my father's desk at the place he worked, there was a green glass frog. When I would visit him, I would see the frog and appreciate it every time. There was just something about it. When he passed away, I kept that frog that was on his desk for so many years.
Years later, I found a baby glass frog that looked just like the frog that belonged to my dad.
I still have both of those frogs, and am reminded that if things ever get tough in life, am I going to be like the frog who lost hope or the other little fellow who always had hope and kept swimming around til he got out of that deep cream bowl. I want to be like him. ; )

What a great poem! How creative you are!
Green is my favorite color, so I am rather enamored of those 2 frogs.
Lovely frog;-)
I hadn't heard that story before.. but it's a great new take on the never give up theme.
Sweet that you kept your fathers frog.
My Mom liked frogs. She had several frog planters and small figurines. I have them now.
Oh Sheri - your poem was great - just what I needed to hear today. Love love your frogs. I am sure that one from your Dad's desk holds dear memories. Take care and have a blessed day. Hugs!
I absolutely love this! It's good advice and very clever!
WHAT A MOVING STORY ABOUT THE FROGS, THEY LOOK NICE ON THAT TRAY
i loved this poem and your sweet frogs. what a wonderful story they tell. i had a pet toad when i was young. always wanted a frog, instead. because they were green. your post put a big smile on my face today. thank you.
Love it.

Sending prayers to you,my sweet friend..."...For when I am weak, then I am strong".(2 Co 12:9-10).Blessings.Love the frogs and the story!
What a great poem...and it does make one think! I love frogs...
That's so sweet Sheri! I love the poem and its sentiments. I must remember this the next time I see a frog. As you know I love gardening, but when I see a frog they frighten me. I think it's because they startle me while working. I'm so glad you have your Dad's frog--so sweet, my friend.
It is NO coincidence that I should read this poem this morning dearest Sheri. Last night we got a positive confirmation on my husband's recent biopsy. We held one another bravely and decided that we are going to keep going, keep going, no matter what because this is what we do. We keep "swimming" to live a life bravely.
What a precious memory and good lesson to learn. We all feel discouraged from time to time and it's nice to have things to help us move on. I have my Dad's green coffee cup to hold on to! Hugs!
What a great post Sheri. The two glass frogs are beautiful, I have never seen such figures. Frogs seem to be disappearing here these days. When I was a kid we often saw a nice green frog, but it has been years and years since I even heard one croaking. Just another sign of what is happening to our planet. Thank you for the sweet poem, very wise indeed.
Sheri,
I loved this post. The poem is so true.. we just have to keep trying no matter how hard it gets.
I do love that you have the frogs and the memories.

Sheri,
Lovely poem and sweet reminder of your Father's love and perseverance. Life throws us curve balls all of the time. We have had our share too. It has not been an easy Winter for us as my husband has had health woes. Seems Colorado may not be conducive to his health. But we shall continue to pray, be optimistic and to what we have to do.
Love,
Jemma
this is really lovely sharing dear Sheri!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you for UPLIFTING poem dear Sheri ,i share your will power for never ending struggle for successful survival :)))
wishing you a blessed happy new year filled with grace of Lord, love of family and health and peace of mind and soul!,amen!
Cute little frogs. I always love to hear the frogs in the summer, such a wonderful sound.
That frog is so cute. I also have a green frog that I put atop some books.
They say it is supposed to bring luck. I remembered the movie 'Catch Me If You Can', Leo DiCaprio said that poem when asked to pray/say grace before dinner.
And I love it because it is inspiring and does not get out of your memory once you heard it. Have a wonderful year ahead ♥

I love the poem and the green frogs. What a special dad you must have had.
Ah Sheri, I love that. I love that you kept the frog and that you shared that story and poem.
This is a beautiful story, but it makes me think of frog germs in my butter.
'Frog' and 'return' have a same pronunciation 'kaeru' in Japanese. Some people put a frog ornament in their houses to pray their family member's safe return from commuting.
Sheri, This is such a sweet post. I am glad you saved your father's frog. The story is a good reminder to never give up. Blessings to you sweet girl,, love , xoxo, Susie
