It's All Greek to Us!

May seems to be the month when a lot of Greek Festivals take place. Our family loves to celebrate our Greek heritage with the delicious food...

festive dancing...

and religious art.

This year, my brother treated my mom to festival tickets and a hearty sampling of homemade dishes.

In addition to the baklava and powdered sugar cookies (my mom's favorite), there was a scrumptious new chocolate dessert, which went perfectly with the rich coffee.

My mom and brother admired the beautiful brick buildings, ornate lanterns, and paintings of two very special saints.

I wasn't able to make the festival myself this year, but the pictures made me feel like I was there. Hope you enjoyed this little taste of Greece yourself!

I used to live in a town (Richmond, VA) that had a Greek festival every year. I miss it!

Greek Festivals are like no others! My son enjoys the one in Richmond, VA like Sandy above stated. I love seeing all the good times and wonderful dancing. I'm so glad Sheri and her son had such a good time. Thank you for sharing Nel. ♥

Greek festivals are one of my favorite things to attend, all that delicious food, Greek icons and jewelry for sale, live Greek music, etc. The festival you show has all the fabulous foods. In my town the festival is held on the Greek church property.

Sheri thank you for visiting and commenting,
however that yellow post of mine was not yet finished when
I hit the published button,
it lacked one more quote at the end and I just thought
this might inspire you...

"His mercies are new every morning..."

in image form of course.

Have a great day!

I didn't realize your family was of Greek heritage! Ohhh how I love the food! I was never an okra fan... until I went to Greece. We have a favorite restaurant we go to in Nafplion which is just a Take Out place in the New Town so charm is not part of the experience. But they make a half roasted chicken with sliced potatoes covered in a thick lemon sauce and it is To Die For. And of course the Greek salad and cabbage salad and boiled greens and... oh, don't get me started. You frequently see women roaming the hills for those wild greens. Missing it so!

We once went to the Greek festival in Monterey which we enjoyed. We miss Greek food here - back in Germany there was no shortage of Greek food since so many Greek people live in Germany, but here it is difficult to find.

Hey Sheri, thanks for jumping over to visit me at the blog. Miss you and girls blogging but I know life gets in the way at times.

Recently so many tasks that I did not have time to look at what is happening to my online friends ... And another time you said, dear Sheri for your Greek roots. It's nice to celebrate these holidays. Your blog is not for food, but now I see the typical delicious dishes of Greek cuisine! Our kitchen is very close, yet we are neighboring countries. Thank you!
