The Women In My Family

Me and Nel were talking recently, and she said to me, "all the women in our family have had really difficult times in life."  The only words I could respond back to her were, "you're right."  The women in my family have had to overcome tragedies, hardships, and personal trials.  The 90 year old woman you see here is my aunt, the matriarch of the family, and she lost her daughter and two of her grandchildren in a tragic automobile accident many years ago.  My niece, Katie, lost her father and brother in the course of a year, yet she still manages to crack a joke, and makes her aunt laugh from time to time.  She has been a light in my world.  The women in my family are pioneers, who received this gift of perseverance from their own mothers.  The women in my family are amazing.....and I'm glad to be a part of them.

"She loved too much,
and you could see it in her eyes:
where she kept all
the hearts she put ahead of hers."

Each of these women have had their own personal life struggles, and we may be different in the way we deal and handle each bitter moment that is thrown our way, but the one way we are alike, and far greater than all the ways we are different........is that we still smile.  : )

You saw the oldest woman in my family,
and this is the youngest.  ; )

Oh Sheri.....she is ADORABLE! Sweet and so beautiful. Oh...I ache to hold. Life is not easy for sure, it hands out struggles to each of us and then we show how strong we are in how we overcome it all. Been there, done that, had a bunch of struggles myself. Proud to say I am a survivor! That little one will be a survivor also, she has strong women in her life to follow!

Sorry....meant to say earlier, I am glad to know that part of Calif have color in the fall. Down in San Diego Calif. my son don't get to see a fall....hence the reason I sent fall leaves to him one yr. He misses the fall colors of TN. You see the cool temps and snows too don't you?

Sheri, That sweet soft baby...I want a snuggle. :) I love this tribute to the women of your family. My mother raised me to be strong and tough...to handle hard situations. I honestly just got a text from my oldest granddaughter , last night. She was thanking me for being strong and teaching her what matters in life, family and the love for each other. It truly touched my heart. Even though we are strong, we can weep. Our spirits are tough, our hearts are caring. I am so happy to know you are my soul sister. LOL Blessings to you and all your women, xoxo, love, Susie

Well, women are considered to be the tough gender when it comes to overcome hardships. And yet, it's always a wonder how they manage to deal with their tragedies in life , especially the ones that involve losing a child or a sibling. It seems the struggles in your women's life make them better not bitter.

Love this post Sheri! I like to think that I get my strength from my mama. She is the strongest person that I know. I like to live by the example she set for me and one day I want to instill those values of courage, strength, and love with my own children. The baby is absoultely adorable! She has a lot of strong women to teach her strength etc! I hope you're feeling better!

Oh Sheri, what a lovely post. And that little one is enough to fill anybody's heart with love. Such a beauty! How admirable that all of your family sticks together, through heart-breaking times and through happy times. Hearing of your auntie who lost her daughter and two grands in the accident touched my soul. How can anyone survive such tragedy, such sorrow? Bless each of you, dear Sheri. You and your sweet family are to be celebrated! Hugs. Susan

Such a gorgeous post, Sheri! Francesca is so sweet :-))
Women are very strong in some spiritual sense. My Grandma escaped from the train during WWII in Warsaw. It was during Warsaw Uprising - Germans nazi soldiers kidnapped her and managed she has to join the train to some German concentration camp. And she escaped from the window while the train was in the slower motion... She survived German gunfire, because they saw she is running!
