The Sear's Tower was the world's tallest building when I was growing up. Between that and the promise of bright lights in a big city, what else could a small-town girl with an adventurous spirit ask for?
Well, I finally had a chance to visit America's "Windy City." It made my heart swell. Traveling Teddy's too.

Here's one of the city's oldest and most iconic skyscrapers, the Wrigley Building.
And here's the view from the 96th floor of
the Hancock Center.
The lighting in the lobby was truly stunning. This sculpture with 3,115 lights mirrors the number of stars you can see with the naked eye.
I was only in town for the weekend (and just for work), so I didn't get to do a lot of the things I wanted to do (like eat a huge slice of deep-dish pizza while strolling around Millennium Park before a visit to the American Writers' Museum...), but that's just an excuse to plan a second trip, right?
So you want to know my favorite part of the weekend...? Even though it was so freezing I was still refusing to unwrap my layers 20 minutes into dinner...
...I was absolutely enchanted waking up to snow!

Nel, Your story sounds like mine....I wanted to see that city for years before I actually go to go there. If you go back, please go to the art museum. You will love it. Hope you sent the pictures of snow to your sweet mother. :) You are a beauty even in 20 layers of wraps. LOL. Bless your heart. Nel, I have been there once. My graduated from basic for the Navy in Great Lakes Ill. and we went walking in downtown Chicago. It was a WHOLE 21 degrees but coming off that lake it was the coldest 21 I ever felt. I felt the water in my eyes freezing up...haha

I've never been there, and here we are in Minneapolis, not that far away. But I love a big city and the Field Museum is one of my dream locations!
You get to visit all the places I've thought about Nel! The Purple lighting on top of the buildings is cool, and the light sculpture is amazing. Aahh, Teddy gets to see it all too. I wish you would have tried the Chicago Hot Dog. I heard they are delicious. Love this picture of you at the restaurant. : )
