The Old Couple

I was at Sprouts, and as I was going back to my car, an older couple was getting out of their car.  We were next to our cars at the same time.  I waited til the old man got comfortably out, and he said, "I didn't see you, I just heard the beep beep beep of your car" (my clicker).  I said, "I didn't see you either."  The old woman said to me, "thank you for your patience.  When you get to be my age, you're slower at things."  I replied back, "when you get to be your age, it's wonderful."  She smiled, and with a distant chuckle, she slowly walked away.

I wanted you to see all the Autumn color
around my neck of the woods.

Gorgeous autumn images!I guess it was a warm, sunny day :-). I adore roses in blossom along with those red and orange leaves. I think this combo of roses and picturesque leaves makes this season so beautiful. Here is raining all day, ha, ha, and in the night even wet snow is expecting. Although sometimes October looks alike to your pics, here in Poland. In general, we have flowers since February to December. This is not bad :-)

Your garden pictures are just wonderful. Oh how I love hummingbirds too. Cute story. I think some days I am the old, slow, elderly one.

Sheri, I am loving the beautiful colors around your area. It is hard to believe how quickly spring/ summer went by and now fall is going as fast. . I love that you were patient with the older couple. I try to be patient, because I know I will be there one day. Ted and I count our blessings everyday , especially when we see someone on a walker, cane or in a wheelchair. Blessings to you, hope your new week is wonderful. xoxo, love, Susie

Oh Sherri, your photos are really beautiful. Love all the leaves, they are stunning. We do not get leaves like that here. Only old ugly colorless leaves, so I really enjoyed seeing yours. Thanks...

Hugs,
Happy Halloween

Beautiful pictures and roses, Sheri. We have nothing blooming here anymore and had our first heavy frost/freeze last night. I am never ready for winter weather to move in.

I love the story about the older folks. I am always patient, too, remembering what it was like to have an elderly father that needed lots of time to move.

Have a wonderful week, Sheri. xo Diana

So beautiful your blooms, Sheri. Love the colors of autumn that you picked up for us, such beautiful colours reflecting contemplation and change. How nice of you to compliment the old lady with a few heartfelt words, truly ripples of kindness are endless. God bless all wonderful hearts like yours.

GOod morning sweet Sheri! Lovely colors! We had some sensation colors but a wind storm came and blew them off prematurely. Some trees whose green leaves had not yet turned lost all of their leaves. We also had a bit of snow last week, so we're quickly turning toward winter. Before we know it though, spring will be back!

You took some wonderful close ups...especially the white rose. And how nice you are to patiently wait on older people. We live in a retirement community and try to always be nice to others. Enjoy your day! Hugs!

I especially love the colours of maples in autumn.
How is the weather in California? I guess much warmer than in Germany.
And I wish you today a Happy Halloween!

loving this post.
the colors which you captured perfectly,
and the heartfelt sentiment in the story
of the elderly couple. i love how you
always look deeper ..
recently in traderjoe's i briefly
chatted with an elderly
couple who offered a hint to how my husband
and i will be and look in later years.

I love your story! I am going to use the phrase "When you get to be your age...it's wonderful." from now on whenever it is appropriate. :) Your fall colors are absolutely beautiful! We are missing a lot of the reds this year in my part of Ohio, our colors are a little dull. Have a great rest of your week!

What a precious story about the couple! In my mind, I can almost see them both, walking slowing, and taking each step with care. How sweet! Moments like these teach us all to slow down and truly appreciate our own physical and mental capabilities and count our blessings!

Thank you for sharing this and so many beautiful images of a Fall! I just love seeing how long our blooms can hold out once the cold weather comes! They certainly try to hold on as long as they can, but everything, unfortunately, has it season and time, like with that dear couple, moves us all forward, eventually, into a new one.

Blessings on your day! Net :)

Oh dear, I hope this comment goes thru or that it doesn't go thru several times. Blogger is making it very difficult to comment unless you have a Blogger blog or a Google account. I hope this will work.

It's been nice catching up here today, dear friend. I try to whenever I get a chance, sneak over to take a peek. You know I like to pace myself online otherwise I get overwhelmed and pull the plug and hide under the covers. teehee Don't you just love growing "young"? ;)
Roses will forever remind me of you.
Such an exciting time for all of you. I wouldn't miss it.

Ok, here goes. Fingers crossed.
