Baby Shower For Jess

The baby shower turned out lovely.  It was at Jess' mother-in-law's house, and we all worked together to make it a special day for Jess.   The desserts were scrumptious.  She bought several different kinds of desserts at a new bakery in town.

Lots of tulle around the house,

and a cute hanging banner.

In the front room was a big vase of red roses.  They were beautiful, and a perfect shade of red.

We served tea sandwiches, 6 different salads, and champagne cider.

Nel doing last minute touches.

Jess' mother-in-law found the most darling Alice in Wonderland items at an antique shop, and later told Jess she could take them home with her.

In the back yard, some tables were set up, and there were two large pots of Mums gracing the doorway.

The tables outside were decorated with roses and children's books.

One of the games we played was so much fun.  We gave each guest three clumps of play dough, and they had to make a baby out of it.  After, Jess looked at them all, deciding on which one she liked the best, and that person received a gift.  My 90 year-old aunt even made one!

Prizes for the games, which I picked out myself.

Jess spent some time before the shower making the cutest favors.  She put a cupcake in each tea cup for all her guests.

She made these sweet tags and attached them to the tea cup with a tea bag and ribbon.

Me and Nel both wanted this tea cup.  We thought it was gorgeous.  I told Nel to take it.  ; )

Jess got so many special gifts.
A mount from mama.

There were tea cups everywhere!  Most of them were treasures that belonged to Jess' mother-in-law, and some of them belonged to a friend of the family who let us use them for the shower.

When the guests were leaving, we asked them to write a special message on a diaper, so Jess could read them later...maybe during the late night feedings when she's tired and needs encouragement the most.

And each guest got to pick a favor to take home.

It was such a nice shower, and I want to thank Nel for all her amazing ideas and hard work that went into making this day a memorable one for her sister.

YUM!

Great decor!

Kind of giggling at the late night notes...imagining my exhausted self with one eye barely open, fighting for an emergency diaper in the dead of night, only to inadvertantly grab an inspirational note instead...

So much planning and love went into all the details of the baby shower. It was fascinating to see the flowers, decorations, favors, tea cups, refreshments and gifts. Thank you for sharing the photos. I wish Jess, her husband and the baby all the best. And blessings to you as grandmother.

What a nice American tradition! We don't have that in Germany. But I remember that my American sister-in-laws did baby showers too. Unfortunately I wasn't there.
I'm a tea drinker. I would have liked the tea cups too and of course the desserts.
I hope everything goes well with Jess when her time comes!

First off- what a beautiful picture at the very end!

I love the Alice In Wonderland theme-what fun that is and I can see how much work everyone went to -ensuring the party was a big success.

Just think-soon you will be a grandmother. Make sure you pick out a name before the baby comes along to ensure that is what they will always call you. The first grandchild sets the precedent. I was Nana from baby #1...on the other "sides" we have a Gramma and a Grammy and one grandmother just has her grandchildren call her by her first name...lol

Hope everything goes smoothly for mom-to-be. I bet you all just can't wait. xo Diana

This is the best shower I've never been to! Every single detail is perfect. I loved Jess' party favors and the treats and beverages look so delish! The table decorations are wonderful -- very clever. The theme is such a wonderful one -- loads of ways you can go with everything from refreshments to decor and it could not have been done better.

You must have been so excited to see your little girl feted and treated as you expect your first Baby Grand. You'll love it!

My goodness, what a beautiful shower this was for Jess! And she did so much work herself by making the teacups with the cupcakes as favors for guests to take! Such fun it is to have an afternoon feeling pampered, drinking tea, and enjoying all the beautiful touches! Everything was just beautiful. Lovely family you have :) Hugs and blessings!
