This is Halloween

It's Halloween!

I have lots of leftover decorations from the wedding, so I decided to use them in my Halloween decor.

This weekend, I'm planning on making caramel apples and my Halloween costume

Are you planning any festive activities?

Happy Owl-O-Ween!

Hot air balloons...

Halloween costumes...

and spooky spectacles!

Welcome to Atlanta's Owl-O-Ween Festival!

I've been looking forward to this Halloween party since I heard about it over the summer, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Husband and I wandered from stage to stage, sampling southern favorites from the food trucks, like andouille sausage po' boys and spicy craft beers. We were spellbound by the fire-throwers and acrobats, and we loved watching all the party-goers in costume strut their stuff on the runway for the "costume showdown."

The best were the hot air balloon though! So many colors and creative designs, and it was amazing to watch the fires flare up and lift the balloons into the air.

This was definitely a night to remember, and we can't wait to go back next year. Wishing you a Happy Owl-O-Ween!

Autumn Blessings

The Autumn is so pretty here in Northern California.  I have been making it a point to notice all the colors and changes that the season brings us here.  We have the golds and the reds, but I see mostly the oranges around this time of year.  Here are a few pictures of Autumn at its best around my neck of the woods.

Blue Tea Pot

I'm decorating my
new place,
and here's a few pictures.

I think the tea pot
is a main item in the
kitchen.
I loved this blue one.

This framed picture
reminded me of the girls.
I've never replaced
it with another one.  ; )

This little angel
rests on my computer desk.

Jess got me this purse
as a gift for
her wedding, and I loved
the peacock design.
It sits on my vanity table.

I have white in the bathroom.

Decorating is fun,
and I'm putting a few things
out for Halloween
this weekend.

When The Rain Washes You Clean

It rained this weekend,
actually poured!
Got my coffee,
and went to the trail.

The trail looked dreary
and spooky,

with only one light
beaming in the distance.

Heart-shaped Autumn leaves,

and a family taking a stroll.

The pine trees dripped
with rain water,
and looked like Christmas trees.

I love the rain,
and as Stevie Nicks sings,
'when the rain washes you clean,
you'll know.'

Changes

So, this week I have been up to my neck in boxes.  I moved again, and you know how exhausting that can be.  It's only a temporary move until I settle.  Remember the place I told you about with the rolling hills?  Well, that's where I moved to.

There are always things that I like more and things that I like less when moving to a new place.  Here are a few.

Well, for one, I had to leave my roses behind.  Hopefully they will appreciate and care for them as much as I did.   Also, there is a rose garden in this town if I ever have a yearning to see roses.  : )

I just moved to the next town over.  It's peaceful with lots of trees and a better place for me to take pictures.

I'm closer to great shops now.  Well, that might not be such a good thing.  ; )

My home is even smaller than the last one, but I don't mind.  I'm all about simplicity as I get older.  I used to have grey countertops, which were a bit too dark for me.  Now, everything is white, which is a clean and fresh look.

I've always loved blue in the home, and since I now have white countertops, I thought blue accents would be pretty for Fall and Winter.  I found this teapot at Home Goods and just had to get it.

I thought that I would not hear the sound of the train any more when I moved, but my first night here when I was lying in bed, I heard that wonderful sound of the train whistle blowing.  I had no idea it was that close to us.   The train runs through both towns, and when I hear it, it's like music to my ears.

I have lived in small homes, medium sized homes, a big home with a large pool, and I've always made each place a comfortable and safe haven for my family.

Every house where love abides
and friendship is a guest,
Is surely home,
and home sweet home
for there the heart can rest.
~Henry Van Dyke

Here is the first Halloween decoration I put out.  I saw this porcelain figurine at Michaels, and since Jess just got married, I thought it was so funny.

I didn't have internet access for a few days and really missed you.  Just a few days makes a difference in this caring and sharing world of blog land.
