Grade School Friend

I met my friend, Mireya, for coffee yesterday.

I've known Mireya since our grade school days, and we've been friends ever since.  We kind of went our separate ways in high school and met new friends along the way, but we've always remained friends.  Here we are in eighth grade.

She was the first one to introduce me to the fascinating world of jewelry.

When we were young girls, she used to go to the local bead shop and buy all kinds of beads and jewels and make her own bracelets, necklaces, etc.

She is taking care of her mom and dad right now, which I admire so much.  Her dad is very ill, and this has been a difficult time for her.  She's a pretty knowledgeable business woman.  She ran her parent's business for years and is sharp with finances.

I have been meeting up with her frequently so we can have some girl time  while she's taking care of her parents.   I enjoy it so much; she always has funny and interesting stories to tell.  She's a good friend, and she has been on my mind lately.

Sheri, I wonder if you have any idea how much your friendship means to Mireya....especially now when she needs a true understanding friend. You are a gift... friendship is a gift we give ourselves too. A good strong girl-friendship is so important in our lives. Thank you for being there for Mireya. Blessings to you both, love, xoxo, Susie

I know your friend must really enjoy her breaks with you, Sheri. Taking care of a loved one is a hard and emotional job. You two were such cuties. I'm so glad you have a long time friend. That's priceless! ♥

There is nothing like having a friend that you share so much history with. I am still connected with a couple of my friends from when I was a girl. I love it that you made jewelry together. I am sure you are a true blessing to Mireya as well! Sweet post!

Those old friends from our youth....they are special. I had the pleasure about 3 years ago now, to have one of my best friends from high school find me, contact me and then come to Minnesota to stay with me. It was surreal, we shed tears, we were grateful to see each other after 38 years. Then this year, a childhood friend found me via Instagram. I had been wondering about here for at least 40 years. Technology has made so much of this possible.

Dearest Sheri, how are you?

Yes Sheri you should definitely have an Etsy with photography. Sorry it took me awhile to visit, you know how it is with little people and school days. What lovely jewerly pieces. I'm glad you can visit with your friend, all my real good ones from back in the day are in different states. Have a great weekend. Side note, there were not any naked surfers in Bolinas, it was someones sticker sign humor :)

So precious. I know it was good for you both and I'm sure it helped her to get away a little from the responsibilities of being a caretaker. Believe me I know. I have a forever friend from high school. What a blessing.

There are few things as satisfying as being with an old friend, one who 'gets' you and knew you when. It's truly one of life's blessings. I'm so glad for both of you that you have each other.
