I'm Just Thinking About Her Lately

Jess' wedding is right around the corner, and I've been thinking about her a lot lately.  She is my youngest daughter, and I can recall her days as a child.  Some memories are so vivid in my mind.

I remember taking her to school on the first day of Kindergarten.  She was only 4, turning 5, one of the youngest in her class.  She just bravely walked in the class room.  She was always brave even if she was terrified inside.

Then, it was time for junior high (6th through 8th).  She had to ride the school bus, which was a long way from our home.  I worried that first year.  One day there was a terrible storm, and the school was in chaos with the bus drivers and the parents picking up their kids.   I drove all the way to the school in the storm to pick her up cause I wanted her safe with me.

This one never got into trouble.  She got good grades, was respectful to her teachers, and always participated in school activities, even though she was a bit shy.

She always honors me and asks first before putting any pictures of me on facebook.  I'm not the most photogenic person, and some pics just should not be shared haha.

Somehow she manages to make her parents worry less; well, you moms know what that's like. (a dove just flew on my fence while I'm writing this).  : )  I want to thank her at this moment  for being such a gracious daughter.  I am so pleased with her in every way.

My youngest daughter is getting married, and I'm just thinking about her lately.......silly me.

Wow. You are so poetic, and life is full of poetry. Your musings are honest and fresh, feelings that every mother must feel. As a childless teacher, I too reflect on students and think about them, what they will become, what many of them are doing now that they are in college and even out of college.

Sheri, I wish her THE HAPPIEST of lives.

Sheri, You are a true mommy..I bet you've even cried while thinking of some of those times when Jess was a little girl. I sure would be. :) What a cute picture. Thank you and your husband for raising a beautiful person. Everything she learned from you, she passes on. Blessings, love you girl, xoxo, Susie

And, that is a powerful painting. The child in the mirror in blue, the mom in blue. Fascinating.

It seems you've raised a wonderful daughter. Kudos to you!
It's very natural to think of and review the way she and you have gone so far.
May Jess be blessed in her new life as a married woman!

What great memories of Jess. I can identify with those feelings. My kids are in their 30's and 40's now, and I still wish I could keep them from all harm. Two of them are driving long distances this weekend. I'll be glad when they are back here safe and sound. Blessings to you, and to Jess and her groom and their life together.

Hi Sheri, what a beautiful post of your love for your youngest daughter. What a darling she was when little and I am sure a great beauty now too. She was raised to be amazing just like her dear mother. You have such special memories to cherish forever.
Love the pics you shared and the last one is incredible. Thanks for sharing your heart. I think it was a sign that the dove flew on your fence while writing this.
Have a wonderful weekend. Love to you!!

She is a blessing to you my friend. Do you remember that scene in Mama Mia when she is helping her daughter get ready for her wedding? This reminded me of that scene. It always makes me cry...a mixture of happy tears though. Sweet hugs, Diane

She was a precious child - one of those that the light shines from within - that became a wonderfully amazing Woman.
She's growing from your wings but she'll never grow beyond your heart. She can't. She wouldn't if she could. What better heart she could have wished for as a Mom?!
You are both blessed as God made you complement and fulfill each other in a way that only Angels can.
Blessings to both of you. May her new Flights be as amazing as the ones you taught her and may you now see what a terrific work you did in caring and loving beyond measure.
Thinking of you both. Constantly and Lovingly.
All my Love,
Teresa

As mommy's we can't help but remember those precious times and hold them close to our hearts. Our children will always be little in our minds even after they're grown. Hugs to you today and everyday dear friend. xo

Dear Sheri,
This is a beautiful, heart felt post. I so resonate your feelings and words as I have been missing my daughter and thinking about her when she was little.
And that last image Sheri....LOVE it!!
I have it framed somewhere. (It used to hang in my daughter's room) Does it not just say it all? They will always be our little girls.
Love and blessings...as all the wedding plans get closer..

What sweet memories. They grow up so fast and we ask ourselves how did that happen. She will be a beautiful bride and you an equally beautiful MOMMA.

So precious Sheri. She was an adorable child, and has grown to be a thoughtful and beautiful young woman. With you as her mom, I'd say the deck was stacked in her favor.

They grow up so quickly don't they? Then those Mothering thoughts come tumbling all around us and we fill up with such emotion.
She is a darling daughter and you are a wonderful Mother.

Oh, such a touching post, Sheri. Sweet, sweet remembrance and memories. It is always so hard, but gratifying to see our children move forward into lives of their own, but we will always have those tender moments and many more to come. Childhood is a precious time and you have lucky daughters who call you Mom. Hugs xo Karen
