He is a brave bird, and stands tall observing what's around him.
He fascinates me. He flies free, yet stands his ground when he has to.
I don't go to him, he always seems to come to me.
A small bird, yet big in so many ways.

Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights."
I copied the above from the UK RSPB site ...... i've always loved robins and they are territorial. When digging or weeding the gardenn I would quite often be visited by what we called our feathered friend the robin, and he or perhaps it was a she always looked at me with an almost quizzical look. Amazing bird.

Oh yes we have a few Robins, but I must say there were many more in my beloved Idaho and they would build nests very close to our home. I was fortunate enough to see their tiny blue eggs and even watch them hatch into fine and handsome birds!

We have Robins here in France, but they look different to yours, smaller and more round. A very cheeky bird. You showed some fantastic photos. I never to seem to ba able to catch them they are so flitting about so quickly, and the Blue tits & Great tits chase them away. I;m hoping they will stay and nest. Your new header showing a bouquet of pink roses is lovely. I'm hoping to be able to dry the delicate pink roses my daughter gave me. Do you have any tips on successful drying?
I love Robins, but have only seen them once or twice. I took photos of one in London, in Green Park near Buckingham Palace, and I remember the robin more than the palace! What a lovely bird, and your pictures are a delight, Sheri.

As for Mrs. Robinson (my name for any robin that comes to our yard) is a favorite here on Rabbit Hill. We once had the pleasure of watching Mrs. Robinson build her next right on one of the beams on the overhang entrance out front. We have a speak-easy window on our cottage door, so we would stand there and watch. My husband complained and said, "This is not a very good place for a nest. The wind is going to blow it away." Well, Mrs. Robinson retorted and said, "YOU JUST WATCH MR. MAN!" And lo and behold, she came back with MUD and packed that baby in so tightly; she raised two families of babies there, and the next stayed glued on for about 6 years until last year, a squirrel pryed it off. Silly questions about Mrs. Robinson and her building skills HAD CEASED! teeeheheheeee - she often comes to visit our moist and worm-laden garden. I LOVE THESE BIRDS! Anita

No. I have black birds with orange beaks, turtle doves and those tiny and savages ones. They seem to rule my garden!
The black ones are very much like your robin. They let me take pictures and sometimes when I'm in the garden they are very close in the garden doing their own errands in it ahahahah
I feel like you with those that allow us to take pictures and enjoy their movements. It's a mix of pride and trust that humbles and marvels you, isn't it?!
I wish I had robins but I don't think they fly as far as this side of Atlantic.

Oh yes, just this morning, I was watching 2 robins, in my back yard.
And I thought, they must have already sorted-out the mating process. Since lots of other birds are flying around and "jousting" for females, etc.
But these 2 robins, where simply going about their business, together.
Perhaps they mate for life???

Sheri, the robins are just making there way up north here again. They must winter in the south somewhere. I love seeing them hopping around the yard and calling.
These are such pretty photos!
I never see robins around here, and we get a lot of different species of birds at my house. I've always but have always loved robins though. They always make me think of the book, "A Secret Garden."
