Happy
Fourth of July!
Jess and Nel used to love these Troll dolls when they were little. I guess they take after me, because I remember spending so many days playing with them with my friend, Linda, who lived down the street.
Their funny faces and colored hair warms our hearts, so when I came across this Fourth of July Troll, I had to share this patriotic little fellow. His shirt says All American, but through the years it has faded and you can hardly tell.
Do you remember those summer days playing with friends from your neighborhood and staying out all day until your mom called you home? A very different time back then.
What were your
favorites things to do
when you were
a kid?

Happy fourth of july!
These Troll I remember...I have one when I was little, orange hair on mine:)
Greeting Norway:))
I loved troll dolls! My favorite one had orange hair and a gem in his belly button! I had a classmate who loved them too so I would give her mine for a sleepover and then the next day she would give me hers, so our trolls would hang out every day. Hahahaha! :)
Happy 4th of July!
Sheri, No toys at our house...well rarely. So we played tag, hide&seek, and climbed trees. Miss those days. My daughters played Barbie dolls hours on end almost everyday. I used to make them clothes for their dolls. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
I remember Trolls but they belonged to the kids. Dear Daughter being a non-Barbie girl always loved different looking dolls and toys. So Trolls were a favorite. No mess clothes, no mess hair, not fragile looking...
I played house. For Real. My aunts drafted me to help them around the house (cleaning, washing etc) but they made it sound like we were playing. Sometimes it was.
I (only) had my first doll when I was already 12 or 13. I asked one for Christmas and my parents - I was living with them by that time - bought one in Spain. She cried when you removed the pacifier. So you had to put the pacifier back or the bottle.
I loved so much that I slept with her. Problem? Mother (me) already slept like the dead and the pacifier would jump and she'd cry until one of my parents came to my room and replaced it ahahahah.
I still remember my first doll with fondness but I didn't have play dates for her. Me and friends were entering adolescence and wouldn't be caught dead playing with them when there was Tom Cruise and Christopher Atkins to gush about ahahahaha.
I took revenge when I had kids with only dear husband being the adult when we were playing. I still keep some of their toys as a memory of the best play friends ever.
I love the way you kept it and that you used it to celebrate today.
Happy 4th, Sheri. Enjoy the fires. Stay Safe and HAPPY!
Ha ha, the troll made me smile…. I used to love them and I remember having lots of them… we have the same sorts of memories Sheri…Have a wonderful 4th.
XOXO Mary
Oh Sheri, this decidedly started some conversations here...
Childhood memories for hubby included looking for shrapnel whilst I jumped from barge to barge on the canal...(biscuits and lemonade always to be had from canal boaters).
Daughter however remembers our reluctance to set her brother and herself free to roam in the neighbourhood once we moved here. We were perhaps too cautious but never sorry as they grew safe and none the less happy!
The little troll (along with a Cabbage Kid) was amongst our daughter's toys as well. Son was either taking something or other apart and reading...
Yes, times were simpler!
God bless Dear,
HAHAHAHA Love the little troll dude….he's all ready for the Fourth! I needed to visit with him today. Love it!
How funny you should mention playing outside all day. I would tear out of the house after my chores were done to my friends to play. I knew to be home for lunch and then back out to play. Home for dinner, do the dishes and back out until dusk. We had no play dates - I would ride my bike all over, walk 2 blocks to Lake Erie and go swimming - play dolls under the weeping willow tree or play dress up. Oh what fun times. I feel that our children are missing so many wonderful experiences, but we have to be careful because of bad people. My son got to experience all of the above things, but not his daughter - what a shame.
Have a wonderful 4th of July.
Mary
You win....this is the cutest 4th of July post I've seen today! We loved playing hide and go seek in the evenings! We stayed outside ALL of the time in the summers! Happy 4th my friend! Hugs, Diane
Oh my goodness this brings back so many memories. My mother collected Troll Dolls. She got one from everybody in the family at one time or another. My Dad hated them, said they were ugly. lol She paid him no mind and kept on collecting. I love yours and it's so patriotic. I got a couple of dolls when I was little but we mostly played outside and built playhouses in the woods and loved to play hide and seek, especially after dark in the summer. We were always doing something if it meant making it up as we went along. Your post brings back alot of memories and it seems we share some of the same ones. Thanks for the sweet post and Happy 4th. Hugs, xo
happy 4th of july =) when I saw that troll ,that reminded me of my childhood :)
I remember the trolls, but I liked the kewpie dolls.
Hi Sheri,
I remember little trolls and playing out all day until it got dark and our Mum called us in.
Shame that today kids can not have that same carefree life.
Happy Independence day to you and your family.
Thanks for all the kind visits to my blog.
hugs
Carolyn
Oh Sheri, you are so right about this. It seems as these days, you hardly see any kids out in the street playing! When I was growing up in Southern California, my favorite thing to do was to dance in the street with the neighbor kids. Someone would have a transistor radio and we'd listen to Motown and dance, dance, dance. Later in my teens, my favorite thing to do was to jump on a bus with my high school pals and ride all the way down Lakewood Blvd to Huntington Beach...those were the days.
HAPPY JULY! Anita

Hi Sheri...Oh yes, I remember the troll dolls and I remember the carefree, happy days.
We used to play One, Two, Three Redlight and Statue on our front lawn, wait for the jingle of the ice cream man's truck and watch for lightning bugs once the sun went down. Happy days then. Susan
♥ :) :) ♥♥

Hey Sheri,
These brought a smile to my face. I loved my troll dolls too..
One of my favorite summer pastimes was running into our house after being outside all morning and asking..Can we have a picnic?? It always consisted of quickly made pineapple sandwiches and just us kids taking them outside for our picnic.. To this day, I still love pineapple sandwiches for lunch in the summer.. I can remember so well the rush of sold air conditioned air as we ran inside to make our sandwiches..
Oh, summertime.. the ones of my young life were magical..
Love, Mona
