He is like a gentle brook flowing free,
and strong and robust at the same time.
When he was a little boy, I gave him some money to buy something at one of the neighborhood garage sales. He came home with a figurine of a cottage and said it was for me. I wonder if he knows I kept it all these years?
Is there someone in your life that lets you be you, and who makes your day a little bit brighter just by being in it?

Aww, so sweet, Sheri. I'm glad you and your son enjoyed this special time together. I too love having one on one time with my sons. Nothing like it.
I smiled when I read about your little cottage. In my bookcase are two ceramic angels. To most people they just look like ordinary angels, but when I look at them I remember the day my little boy rode his bike to the neighborhood garage sale and bought them for me. He'll soon be 28! I guess I'm just a sentimental fool :).
Sheri, I love this post about your son. So sweet too. He can be strong and be sweet, we love that. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Just lovely. I hope I will be able to write the same about my own gorgeous boy when he is older and we have a day out ...

Oh to have a son as such would be a dream, but i have a husband who lets me be me and vice versa. Now that is a reality that i can live with and love all of my life. Hello dear friend!
Both my children let me be me. Which is nice because I was never allowed to - when growing up people had so much expectations in me that one day I realised I didn't "made" or had a real me.
Since they were born I didn't have that problem. Even as babies they'd just let me be (she as a alpha phemale wanted to put me in the "righ (her!) path" but soon gave up ahaha but he not even tried), then they grew up and are still suprised that I'm not The Mum (or at least not their idea of) but that sometimes crazy, always thoughtful and kind, sometimes childish friend they have on the side.
It is funny that they understand me better than I do and they are also less judgemental ahahah so they're my best friends. Though I don't put the pressure on it.
They don't have to be so that makes more awesome that they are...
I feel so blessed. And reading this lovely post I feel my heart overloaded with Love for that Amazing Guy who makes my Friend so Happy.
Love you and thank you for sharing this - it is so important to read happy moments of loving people.

You must be a proud mom.....and your son is so because you are so....like his mom....love Ria...x !
Beautiful, Sheri. Only mothers of both sons and daughters know how unique each of these relationships is, and how very special the bond between mother and son is.
Love that you saved that cottage all these years. Do you ever picture yourself living there? ;)
As for your question, I'm having quite a challenge these days finding someone who lets me be me, but I'm not giving up yet.

Sheri, that is so sweet. I'm sure that your son learned from you and that is what makes him the way he is. I love that he bought you that little cottage , and that you've kept it all these years, obviously , you are both very special…Have a wonderful day.
XOXO Mary
Sheri, che meraviglia....complimenti
I'm so happy you have such a great relationship with you son. That's special. And it sounds like he's special! Just reading about him made me smile.
Your son sounds lovely and so thoughtful and it's so nice to be able to spend time togehter, just the two of you. I'm sentimental too and the memories flood back when you look at something you have kept from the past.

The cottage story brought tears to my eyes. So sweet. Such a wonderful young man.
Oh Sherri, how special. I have a son like that also. I only have the 1 son and so we are really close. He knows that I love roosters and Christmas, so every Birthday it's generally a rooseter and at Christmas he always gives me a special ornament, mostly of birds, and hummers. He is now a farther to a 11 year old daughter and he is so special to her from the moment he brought her home from the hospital. When I go for a visit he waits on my hand and foot and won't let me do anything.
So I know exactly how you feel. Treasure your wonderful memories.
Thanks for sharing.
Mary

What a blessing you have in your son. I'm sure he would say many wonderful things about you too.
Hi Sheri: You have a treasure for a son! How very special that as a young boy he thought of you first at the local garage sale. Your photos are beautiful, but what is even more beautiful is your son and your special relationship with him.
My husband lets me be me, and I am very thankful for him.
Your post dedicated to your son is simply wonderful Sheri!I think I can share your feelings for a boy like him!I don't have a son but I would be proud to have one like yours.
Oh, boys are the best! I have four sons...all grown...but they can sure brighten my day with a phone call. They talk a little softer and sweeter when they're on the phone with Mom! I'm glad you had fun! Enjoy your afternoon!
You can be so proud, Sheri, you have wonderful children! But I am sure you are a wonderful mother as well!!
This is a very nice post and it is so nice to hear and feel the love between you all!

I would have to say, my son is that special person to me too. He allows me to be myself and we have the best times together too.
It really is a blessing.

Hello sweet friend! I am here at night just enjoying my favorite blogs, and I see you came by- that cottage is adorable, and to think that your son thought of YOU. That is a treasure, most priceless! I hope you get settled in soon to your new home...pictures, please!
Oh- yeah- My youngest son is just like that- a "child of the heart"...my other kids are great, too, but he GETS me-through and through. I am glad you have someone like that in your life, too- xo Diana
I found sons don't expect much from mum but daughters have higher expectations but I only have one of each so maybe they are not all like that.
Merle.............
As a mother of boys I can relate Sheri, they are special . So glad your son makes you feel like you. But remember that is the gift that you have given him. Shell - A Darlings Nest
So nice.
Like that figurine of a cottage :-)
How beautifully written Sheri, and I found your post right after getting off the phone from my elder son. Sweet man who rang to see I was OK. He gave me little gifts too, just like your son, and I always keep them near. Such gestures are irreplacable! xx
What a heartwarming post!! I loved this. I had lunch with my mother Wednesday and I always cherish those moments.
Hello my deaf Sheri, how sweet of your son. Boys are completely different than, they're not the superficial sort unlike girls, although I don't have a son but lots of nephews. Awww..and you still have that cottage from the garage sale. He'll be pleased to know that you kept his little present for you. Thank you dear for visiting.
Hope you have a good weekend,
Hugs,
Aida

Hi Sheri,
How lovely that you had a fun time out with your Son.
The bond between a Mother and Son is beautiful - I too enjoy my special times with our Son.
How sweet the little cottage is he came home with - you would treasure this. I love the pretty yellow rose.
Many thanks for visiting me - the writing I did do.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
hugs
Carolyn

Sheri dear-what a lovely post. You have such a special connection with your son and it shines through. That gift for you is simply touching. What a thoughtful guy. I feel that kind of unconditional connection with my best friend from 4th grade who visited me last weekend. Love this post.....xx, Heather
Our children are our heart. My son is my baby boy but he is so strong willed and so much like me that sometimes we still go head to head in discussions, but he's a strong man of faith and makes me proud. My daughter is the one who lets me be me and loves me anyway. I love them both with all my heart. They are one thing I got right.
