One Of A Kind

I have never been into the latest fads or trends.  When something new and big comes around, I turn the other way and run.  I've always wanted to be an original, with my own expressive style and taste.

From Fashion

To Jewelry

To Home Décor

To Music

I saw this cup when I was out shopping, and just had to buy it.

It's not easy to turn away from the crowd that's luring us in, but when we do, a whole new change awaits us.  We are able to say,
Here I am,
I am real,
I am different,
I am special.

Picture of Nel when she dressed as a Flapper girl.

May your day be filled with all that is different and good.

Greetings from the UK again Sheri - looks like you have all been having a fun summer x

Thanks for popping over to Dolliedaydream - yes I am loving being back in the countryside and feel very lucky that Luca and little Alfie can have a little freedom to run around and enjoy being out of doors.

I totally agree with your post - embrace being unique and beautiful in your own way. Nel makes a fabulous flapper girl - do you know having watched the Great Gatsby earlier this year I have been thinking about having a 1920's inspired party for my 40th (eek!) birthday this October :-) x

Sheri- Years ago I used to follow fads and trends but anymore I just do what I love and love what I do. I will stick with what I love and let the winds of change whirl around me. It is so easy to get sucked into doing things just because someone else is doing it---or copying something that you just "have to have". xo Diana

I feel the same, as I get older I feel less constrained to fit the mold and follow the crowd. Yeah, us! Each one beautiful and strong.

Great post Sheri - totally agree with you, I love the unique, the something different, and have fun mixing up the fashions with old bits I've had to years. Much more fun than being the same as everyone else! Great sandals!! x

Hi Sheri~ I love that quote and have wrote in calligraphy and put it in a frame recently. It is so true-being our 'own kind of beautiful' makes it truly authentic. Clearly-you know exactly how to make it happen.

Atta Girl!
It takes courage. But then you get to be rewarded not only by using and wearing and feeling what you like, but also what you're entitled and deserving. In your own right. Without living vicariously (I don't know how to write this word... no time to check... sorry)) through others and what THEY feel.
Atta Girl! The result couldn't have been more perfect, in my humble opinion.
Love,
Teresa

Hi Sheri thank you for your comments on my winter blog. As I write my husband has gone a trip to the snow which is only a couple of hours from where we live in Canberra,Aust. To answer your question we celebrate Christmas in Summer and we enjoy lots of Summer inspired parties leading up to it. Lots of evenings spent outdoors. So our Christmas lunch can be a mix of hot and cold depending on the heat. We love to enjoy seafood and cocktails and last year we spent our Christmas holidays at the coast . It is very different to the northern hemisphere Christmas and we try to adapt some of your cosy traditions . Happy weekend Sheri xox

I love this sentiment! We try to teach our children to stand up for what they believe in and not follow the crowd just to be popular. Now, to practice what we preach - there's the thing! I'm with you on this - I don't want to be a cookie cutter! BTW, I love Louis Armstrong too. :-)
Have a lovely weekend and thanks for stopping by!

We should know that instinctively but as you say, the pressure to conform that comes from society and our education (well, mine anyway !)often crushes our true personality. Love the cup !xx

I love this and appreciate people that don't have to follow the crowd or trends just to "fit" in.

What a fun flapper girl photo of Nel!

Stay original, just how God made you TO BE!
