Listen

A Prayer For You

We do not really listen to each other, God, at least not all the time.  Instead of true dialogue, we carry on two monologues.  I talk.  My companion talks.  But what we are really concentrating on is how to sound good, how to make our points strongly, how to out shine the person who we are talking.  Teach us to listen as your son listened to everyone who spoke with him.  Remind us that somehow you are trying to reach us through our partner in conversation.  When our words are harsh, hostile, angry we convey the very opposite of those qualities.  Teach us to be still, Lord, that we may truly hear our brothers and sisters and in them, you.

Let us try to
listen more.  We
may be missing
something very
special
that someone
is telling us.

Sheri- There is so much truth in this post! I try to talk less and listen more and to really hear what is behind the words that are being spoken. I don't always succeed and my humanness gets in the way sometimes. GREAT post- xo Diana

Hi Sheri, First of all your daughter is just lovely. Rick liked the old phone booth. I wanted to thank you for thinking of me and guess what getting ready to come back. Have enjoyed so much my time with Rick, he has been taking pics inside the house as you will see when I post them. Thank you again and very meaningful words in your post.

HOW VERY TRUE. I think I keep learning the same lesson over and over especially as I GROW UP; LISTEN MORE, SPEAK LESS.

What lovely photos of your girls sweet Sheri. Imagine if we listened more...what would the world sound like, look like? Less bombings maybe, more unity perhaps. We only have one life to try it out and see.

BLESS YOU MY FRIEND! Anita

WAUW Sheri ....
There is a true message in your post
For me that part was always so hard when I was a teacher .
To deal with so many people each day
All the children in my class , wanted to be there for each of them .
than the parents ....and the colleagues .... and also my own life with family and friends
TOO much ......most of the time
anyway ....for ME too much .....
Because I wanted to do all well .
Now .....not working anymore I have found myself again liking the peace and quiet at home .
My granddaughter shows me all !
She is the most beautiful and precious gift of life to me .
Together with her in my garden is the best !
Wish you a wonderful weekend

God is indeed listening and shouting thousand of beautiful and blessed messages through your children. Their happy and hopeful stances tell me that they also listen and live accordingly.
Too too lovely this post, Sweet Friend!

Hello there lovely sister! CRAFT SHOW TODAY? How FUN! We just had another fantastic rain shower; it has been raining almost daily here and it is so lush! Come by when you can because I decided to post on my home (not too many great pictures, though!) so you can see where I live.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND! Anita

Hello there precious Sheri,

Where do I even begin to thank you for your kind words on my post today? I wish you could visit me. You would love the William Baffin climbing roses that many of the neighbors are planting, the yellow tea roses my neighbor up the street has, and all the lush greenery here. We have a duck that lives in that hillside garden of ours, and the enchantment really never stops.

Many hugs to you and "THANKS", for seeing the magic that I wish to share. LOVE! Anita

A lovely prayer, Sheri.
I think we could all benefit from hearing these words and trying harder to become good listeners. I think there are so many people who just want a chance to be heard.

Amazing prayer! I fully agree, we talked about praying from the heart at a Bible class, many of us focus on how to make a prayer beautiful instead of focusing of sincerely pouring out our hearts to God and be honest with Him.
Beautiful post and a great reminder, Sheri!

Hi Sheri! You have such a sweet family :-) thank you for visiting me, I have missed you in the last few weeks and it is so nice to hear from you. My peonies are called peony sorbet and they are a pink with a creamy vanilla color. I actually want more in my yard but I don't have room for them right now. Have a wonderful week sweet friend!
