I'm not saying we shouldn't discipline. Nel and Jess will tell you that I was the first to discipline them. I'm just saying that kids will be kids.
They are carefree.
And they get scared, just like us.
They make us laugh.
They are curious.
And they are real.
Let us not forget what it's like to be young, and be more patient with the kids around us.
Children....they are God's special people.
They are to be appreciated
They are to be taught
They are to be protected
They are to be heard
They are to be loved
Thank you for listening.
~Sheri

A great number of parents should think like that but unfortunately they don't.
Your words are very true Sheri, thanks for this nice post!
I totally agree..a good reminder for us all. We're still learning and growing even as adults :)
Great post..cute photos!

Great post! It breaks my heart to see children mistreated by being yelled at and talked to like they were animals. I have to put blinders on sometimes in the grocery. I will pray for them and their lives as I see them out and about, stays on my mind for days.
I totally agree...what a beautiful post.....love Ria....xxx...
I love me kids, too! Many many more dangers today, of every kind.
Well said Sheri,
I so believe a child needs to be carefree and only at times need to be told what is right or what is wrong. I came very close once in getting into a real hassle with a dad or the mothers boy friend..he grabbed the child by the back of the neck for no good reason..If my sister was not there I would have had words with him. My family always stops me from speaking out! Poor little boy! Grrrr!!! Children are special and need to be loved..
I'm crazy when it comes to protecting the young, the old, and animals..
I had to remember this EVERY DAY as I taught. It was hard because I didn't mind them skipping in the hallways but the administration demanded they walk quietly and in a straight line. I loved when they made me laugh with their silly stories, but I had DEADLINES TO MEET to present the curriculum. I loved to once in a while go off the path and just play with them, but others didn't agree with me.
I DID IT ANYWAY because
kids are just kids
and they need to know someone cares.
Lovely post my friend! Anita
Oh this is such a sweet post..I agree, kids are kids and the parents should remember that..They do live in a different world than we did.. we made up our own fun..Thanks for sharing..Susie
This is such a sweet post, and so true! (And that picture with the spider is PRICELESS!!!)
How True...I realize this all the more the older my kids get .That some of what I thought was important at the time really isn't. Loving them and letting them be children is key.
I agree with you so much. I just had a talk yesterday and told a guy to make issues of the BIG THINGS and no get into a wrestling match over the little piddly things- xo Diana
ps...where is that last image from, do you know? Is it one of N.A.Noel's prints? It is just BEAUTIFUL....xo Diana
What an absolutely adorable post. Children truly are precious. If I could tell all moms with young children just one thing, it would be to CHERISH EVERY MOMENT.
Before you know it, they will be all grown up and gone. They might move far away from you and then childhood memories become even more special.
The housework doesn't matter that much, nor does getting everything done on the "to do" list.
What matters is that smile, that hug, that encouragement, that "one more story" and love. Susan
I love this. SO true....thanks for this. XoXo
HI!!
SO SO TRUE!!!
I have far more patience with my grands then I did with my kids....I think as the saying goes.....we slow down and put things in perspective....I also can send them home and clean later...dinner is not what it was when kids were here....for hubby and I a salad is dinner....no fighting for kids to eat your veggies....homework....bath.....it is alot of WORK.....but SO WORTH IT!!!!I would not trade Mommyhood....or MIMI time for anything....even a Trip to Paris....
hugs,
jamie
Ciao ragazze,
ci "rivediamo" a settembre.
Un abbraccio.

So true.
And the same aplies to the generous and old hearts too.
That's what Life is made of and we should show respect, love and enjoyement through and through.
Love and wishes of a glorious weekend,
T
I couldn't agree with you more. It is so difficult being a child these days with so many distractions. We used to romp around in woods, ride bikes on the roads, and play without having to set up a play date. We were out the door first thing in the morning telling mom that we were going over to so and so's house to play. You didn't have to worry about abductions, and other sordid things happening to your kids.
Everything is so fixed now...schedules dot calendars with every activity imaginable to keep kids entertained. It makes me happy to see kids who use their imagination and form interests based on it. :)
Ohhhh, ik hou hier van en het is zo waar...Bedankt hier voor !!!!
lieve groet...ELLY.
It's a wonderful post and you are so right! We have to protect our childen so that they can enjoy their childhood. A wonderful childhood is so important for becoming an own personality.

Thanks for this gentle reminder. I find myself getting impatient at times and expecting Maximus to not spit out water on the floor and all over his shirt...
Sometimes I need to be a little easier on him...not that I "discipline" him at this age. But, I feel like I say NO a lot! It's a learning thing for him and I alike. :)
With that being said...he brings me so much joy. And I want to treasure each moment.
Have a lovely weekend!
Heidi
Dear Sheri,
How wonderful of you to make this post for all the loving children in this world. Its so lovely.
True words. So many parents dont have time for their children today, including my own.
They need to be around us and feel our love and learn from us and grow happily.
great post
thank you
val ..
Beautifully stated, a great reminder for summertime when kid are out and about. Love the images you selected…… Laura
Good morning Sheri! I love this post and this is something that is a constant reminder while raising Children in this hectic World. Have a lovely Sunday! Xo, Ashley
Hi Sheri, You are so right. Times were so different when we were kids playing and outside all the time.
What a wonderful post and so very true. Kids are just little people full of hope and curiosity. If we watch and listen we can learn so much from them. I know you were and are a wonderful mother to your girls little and grown.
Love the pics you share. As always they are perfect for your post.
Great post this time of the season when the kiddos are out of school and all about the neighborhoods playing and being kids.
Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment on my studio. Hope you enjoy a wonderful week and blessings always.
XO Celestina Marie
Hi Sheri,
Lovely post and I agree kids need to be kids and they are so precious. Growing up life was much more carefree when we were children.
Love, hugs, caring and kindness is needed to help our kids grow up happy and healthy.
Have a great new week
Hugs
Carolyn

Dear Sheri,
Thanks for your sweet comment.
The wine I bought at the local supermarket. It was a special edition.
Perhaps you through their headquarters could still order this wine. (Headquartered: Albertheyn.nl in Zaandam, Netherlands).
With this special target their service might help.
I wish you every succes.
Lovely greetings,
Elly
What a sweet post, and so true what you say : ) I sent you some sunshine in my last post : )
Sweet friend!
Sheri dear, thank you so much for visiting with me yesterday. I am going today to the airport to pick up my girlfriend and so the entire week will be a computerless week! Here on the home front, we have finally completed the painting of my studio and the building of a new covered deck...all in TWO WEEKS TIME, in sweltering heat!
I wish you a fantastic week; I will be back in blogland on Sunday. LOVE TO YOU! Anita

Hi Sheri,
I totally agree with you! I love that picture with the little baby eating that melon. Hilarious! So much reflecting the state of being of children, so pure in their heart. I wish all people could stay pure as children and wouldn't play so many egogames and wouldn't be so much into egomatters these days. It's a wrong example for our children. I hardly meet people who act from their heart anymore. Your post is such a wonderful plee for making people realize how much influence they can have on the future.
Happy summer to you!
Blessings,
Ingeborg
A great big amen to this! Love it...how true this is! Beautiful post.
