A Keepsake

Jess brought me back a gift when she was in the Caribbean.  It is an angel made out of stone, and I love it.

Here is the back side of it.

There is a little story that goes along with the angel.  I will share it with you.

Jess took a day to go cascading
down waterfalls (there are 27
total, but she cascaded down 7).
After hiking up hill, they came to
the waterfalls and were able to
jump off the cliffs or slide down
the waterfalls (she slid down most
because she doesn't like heights).
The crevasses and aqua blue waters
looked like a secluded paradise,
and it was one of the most
beautiful natural sites she has seen.
After sliding down the waterfalls,
they could swim in the refreshing
pools of water to the next
waterfall.  The bottom of the pools
and streams were filled with stones
that were used to carve the angel.
On her way out, a man had a
table of sculptures for sale that
he had carved himself, and he
was actually in the process of
carving one.  They were all so
intricately designed, and he was
very talented.  When she saw the
table full of his hard work, and
the angel specifically, she
knew I would love it.

Thank you, Jess, for your gift.

Do you like angels as much as I do?

Who could not love angels? They are all around us we just have to know where! This is a beautiful gift and very lovely angel. How sweet for Jess to bring it home for you! And the story is wonderful too. I dont blame Jess for sliding down as I'm not found of height either. But, she was a lot braver than I would have been.
Enjoy the day,
~Shirley

Hi Sherri,

What a beautiful hand carved angel! I think the person who carved this is a very talented person.

Yes, I believe in angels. I once saw an apparition of an angel over my great niece after I had prayed that an angel would come and watch over her after her dad passed away. I've never seen another one since that day. I believe each of us have guardian angels who watched over us but this was the first and last time I ever saw one!

I do. And there's beauty in the sight of angels in the unexpected places - a garden, picking at a window.

And to know that she found this one waiting for her to pick him and bringing it back to you add another dimension to the thoughtfulness of her gesture.

Be Blessed, Sweet Jess! As

“The fragrance always remains on the hand that gives the rose. -Gandhi.”

Hi Sheri,
What a special gift from Jess. The workmanship on this piece is exquisie.. This is a true artist.
Can you tell me anything about the last image of this stunning angel?
Do you know who the artist is? It looks air brushed.

Thank you for visiting.. Truth be told, my roses are looking pretty sad from the heat, but they keep blooming. I hope the weather cools off for you so yours can start to bloom again.

I believe angels walk the earth daily..
Blessings,
Penny

Jess gave you a beautiful gift. Yes, I love angels too and your angel is gorgeous in it's simplicity. I've never seen one like it before. I know you will treasure this angel for many years. You are an earth angel and I'm so glad we are blogging friends. I haven't posted anything in weeks . Going through some live transitions (it 's all good but it doesn't always feel that way) Just laying low, going to work and spending time at home. I'll be back. Thanks so much for dropping by to say hello. Hugs, Sandy
