and charming at the same time...
Me and my husband's first kiss was in an alley. I was 16 years old, and he was 18. While walking in the alley, we stopped, walked up a few steps, and started talking. I was leaning up against the brick wall, and he leaned over and kissed me. The first kiss was kind of awkward, but the second wasn't, and I fell in love with him instantly.
We were so drawn to eachother, that I didn't even see the sign haha.
Do you have any special
stories about an alley?
Please do tell.
I'd love to hear.

I wish I did! HA But, there is something very romantic about a kiss shared in an alley. This brings to mind the dark cobblestone alley ways and streets of Paris that curve up and around... two people leaning up against a brick wall wrapped in a kiss Very romantic indeed!
Such a sweet post! So romantic!

Hi Sheri,
What a sweet story! For some reason I don't associate alley's with anything good but I think that's because the one's I've seen here in Florida do not look like the ones in your photos. Reading your post though I can see why you would love them.
Have a great weekend!

ahhh... now i understand the name "red rose alley" a little better... such a lovely story.
my favorite alley was the one that i traveled to go from my grandparent's home to see my grandfather at his corner store. i especially loved it when the lilacs were in highly-scented bloom. thanks for the memory!
have a wonderful weekend.
-xok.
No wonder you are attracted to alleys! Your first experience was so romantic. I loved hearing this story and it brought back memories of my younger days. It brings a smile! The only experience I've had with an alley was when I younger son was around 12 or 13 years old. (he's now 20) He and his friends use to like to run through the alleys behind our neighborhood homes, running and hiding, as children do. My son was rather tall and looked older than he was. When I found out what they were doing, I confronted my son with the fact I was not happy with that. Even though we know he is innocent with his playing another person may not think so and it could cause a lot of trouble and could possibly even get him hurt. I was so thankful that he obeyed and stopped doing this. I was scared for him! Other than that, alleys can be pretty cool.
SMILE,
Brenda
That's a lovely romantic post. It really made me smile when you mentioned the second kiss - so cute!

Dare I share my first kiss in my back alley with you Sheri ! Ohh ..it was long long ago. My dream was to be an aspiring singer and dancer on the stage.
My mother always told me that she would introduce me to Mrs Worthington! never happened!
I must have been around 7.. the boy from the end of our street Peter.. called me one day to him and said..would you like to kiss me? There was a regulation to this kiss.. I had to kiss him "Holywood style".. i remember him telling me.. you must rock your head side to side. So eyes closed and lips pouched our lips barely touching..we rocked our heads side to side and that was my first kiss.
My mother found out..she told me that the birds had told her..I was banned from playing with Peter again.
I never kissed in the Alley again.
Now I know why you call your blog Red rose Alley..absolutely fantastic Sheri..
super post.
wishing you many kisses this weekend.

What a romantic share, Sheri. No, Mother made sure we didn't venture into alleys for fear something bad might happen. We had a strange man that lived down our alley in an apt.
Have a beautiful holiday ... please pray for our troops that serve us, & those that have gone before us.
TTFN ~
Hugs,
Marydon
Awww what a great story :) When my husband and I first met (at 15, now 28), we did NOT like one another hahahaha but now, married and three kids later, I wouldn't change it for the world, that shows me proof that God has a sense of humor haha =) Have a lovely weekend! xo ~Ashley
awwwe...how romantic!
That is sooo romantic!!and yes the name of your blog...how perfect!!
I'm afraid I haven't had too much excitement in an alley..I always hurry through.I think I might have watched too many suspense movies with my hubby.:)
Your story is enchanting. My garndmother's house backed up to an alley- an nice, old neighborhood type of gravel alley. An old Polish woman (well, they were all Polish in that neighborhood) lived across the alley from her and had these HUGE lilac bushes in white and lavendar that just spilled out all over the alley in the spring and I would pick them by the armload and no one ever chastised me for doing it. I loved every spring. Those were the biggest lilac blooms I have ever seen in my life, to this day. Almost as big as a delphinium bloom.
LOVE your story! Alleys ... I think because they're narrow, private and provide that mystery/excitement. It would make a great series of paintings/drawings!!! The only experience with alleys I've had was a kid running through them to get from our house out to the main street of our small town. Thanks for your great inspiration today. x
What a romantic story - and I love the roses! sandie
Oh how lovely. I knew we had a lot in common. I have ventured down and up many alley's..I even have a path in my back yard garden that I call the Alley Way. My first real kiss was not in an alley but under a band concert pavillion! Oh how sweet it was..(didnt marry him but it was a very romantic moment) Love your photo's..soooo romantic..
Sheri this little story is darling. I had to walk to catholic school through an alley, no problems then. I played the piano and this lady friend of mom would be watching for me, as soon as she saw me she would run out and invite me in so I could play the piano for her, sweet lady. Also going home from school would get walked home through that same alley. Love the story of your first kiss, thanks for inviting me. Hugs...Lu
What a cute story, Sheri! I guess I don't have an alley story..but now I wish I did! xo Diana
Awe, such a sweet story!
I remember always riding my bike as a child with my sister, down the alleyways in our town..we always had a fun time exploring :)
That is such a lovely story and yes I am attracted to alley ways, it's like there is a magnetic pull and I have to go down or up and explore! x
GOOD MORNING DEAR HEART!
Well, in France, there are some fabulous alleys and I have the most beautiful picture of my Ruben standing in a very narrow alley of STONE in the ancient Provençal village of EZE. No special story other than it was a magical day of discovery for him since that was HIS first trip to France.
SENDING YOU LOVE ON THIS WONDERFUL DAY! Anita
Hi Sheri,
I agree, alleyways can be very alluring. You never know what you're going to find. A secret doorway,a discarded 'treasure' in need of a little TLC, Love...
You were lucky.
Have a very kissy weekend.
Joasia x

Thank you for inviting me to stop by and get to know you a little better, my friend. That is an invitation I cannot refuse. :)
MUAH!!

Aw! How sweet! Love your story!
Sheri,
Love this story! How sweet. Yes, alleys do have their charm. There is an alley in Ann Arbor, Michigan where a guy dresses up and dances to Michael Jackson music. He's really good! I love your story because it's very sweet and the sign made me laugh. Have a wonderful weekend!
What a sweet story about you and your husband. I love alley's too. when I was little we played in the alley behind my aunt's house. The pool took up the whole yard, so that's where we'd go. I'ved also used them for shortcuts to somewhere i needed to be.
Dear Sheri , Jess and Nel

The perfect post. Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day! Hugs,
Sweet one!
Sheri dearest, I am so happy to see your comments come my way, all the time. I am so glad you enjoyed our Roman Holiday; I adore that movie and the SWEETNESS and DECENCY that Audrey Hepburn promoted not only in her roles but in her real life are virtues that unfortunately are not captured often these days. I have spent more than half of my instructional time at school just trying to teach my students how to be kind. The caption on that photo on my blog is a timeless message, is it not?
I GOT THE AQUA TULLE! I will be sewing today since I have the day off!!!!
SENDING YOU MUCH LOVE, Anita
No!
Until THIS right moment I shudered with the word ahahahaha
Loved your Love Story sharing, the alley, the kiss with the cradle robber ;)... Sheri at 16 in an alley is a lovely and heart-warming image
The only idea that came to my mind when I listened to the word ALLEY was murder and mayhem and now romance thrown in it... Now I'll be able to walk through one and enjoy what you suggest: mystery, charm, intrigue...
Thank you for sharing. This put a smile into my face. Needed it and you never fail to do so. He was right to not let you go :).
Love,
Teresa
What an awesome first kiss story!
I am glad to hear that story is still going :)
I wish I had a great alley story, maybe I'll have to make one!
